(TW: mention of sexual assault)

Apologies if this has already been shared on here, but I just saw it myself on Twitter. Courtesy of producer, writer, and director Dre Boulet:

She posts more in her thread, with descriptions of his alleged predatory behaviour at parties, and clearly states that she's ready for him to come at her, implying she has receipts if he does so.

It seems to be developing, and at this point it's all alleged, with more people sharing horrible comments from Roth made in interviews about exploiting girls on his sets and some accusations of homophobia too.

This was shared by April Wolfe, co-writer of last year's Black Christmas Remake:

The guy who wrote such notable lines as "fuckin fag fest" and a character who shot at squirrels "cuz they're gay" is a homophobic douchebag?!

And those were from the PROTAGONISTS! I bailed out on this dude's work a looooooong time ago when he proved to me that he was nothing but a douche

I remember on the Cabin Fever audio commentary he gets mad at one of the girls in the cast that she wouldnt do a nude scene in Cabin Fever but did a nude scene for a different movie. Felt really sleazy.

I don't like to look at a director's work and think "I bet the director is a real scumbag".
Yet Eli Roth always had that air about him in his movies (especially from the Hostel movies). It doesn't surprise me he would do this kind of shit.

I hate to say it, but the reason I've disliked Eli Roth since the beginning is because he comes off as the guy you find out sexually assaulted women at parties and got away with it. He seriously gives me the creepy pick up artist type.

For all the 'gore porn' that the Hostel movies were apparently meant to bring about, apart from SAW (which on its worst day wouldn't be put in the same category as Hostel) were there many movies that tried to ride on this guy's coat-tails?

They were abhorrent movies, and was glad the genre seemed to move on from what they were trying to push rather quickly.

Probably secretly crying on the inside when he was shooting those nazis in that scene from Inglourious Basterds.

Which I'm never gonna watch now, after this revelation. Fuck this piece of shit.

Each and every person that is continuing to out all these motherfuckers is a goddamn hero. And I hope and pray it never ends, until every last rapist, predator, groomer, abuser, pedophile, etc, is unmasked. EVERY. LAST. ONE.

Roth's movies tend to all be "Fratboy Douchebag" horror flicks. Not surprising he writes what he knows.

Roth was hands down the worst of the 'Splat Pack' directors crew & the only one who wasn't able to anything of merit outside his 1st 2 films, even that is generous. He seemed to use the famous friends card for everything it was worth to stay relevant.

I've heard that from quite a few people in the horror community that have either worked on some of his movies, or have had the misfortune of meeting him. The guy is a douchebag fratboy wannabe that refuses to grow up. His immature personality goes hand in hand with his horribly immature movies.

Roth's films have always been very difficult to watch for me and it never had anything to do with the comically overdone gore. His penchant for gratuitous exploitative nudity, homophobic "jokes" and scatological humor has always repulsed me.

Roth is nothing but miss after miss for me and it's unfortunately not hard to imagine that a lot of the juvenile, toxic energy that runs through his entire filmography comes from the on-set environment he fosters and his apparent off-set behaviors.

I hope that anybody affected by him is able to find peace.

Being a huge horror fan I never got his movies? Not a fan and don't get his popularity in the horror genre.

Cabin Fever II and Green Inferno are prime examples of the unfunny gross-out jokes.

Green Inferno is one of three movies that I have ever walked out of in my life. I don't know if it was the 9/11 conspiracy "jokes" or the secondary and tertiary characters having explosive diarrhea and vomiting while somebody was having their eyeball plucked out and eaten that finally sealed the deal for me but I strode right out and never looked back.

I remember him making a movie where Keanu Reeves is raped and in the end is left to die. That always kind of tinted my view of him.

This something you would see in an episode of Family Guy.

He lost pretty much all of his mojo in terms of folks being excited for his films after Hostel Part II, which repulsed even hardened fans of the genre, and has since managed to either get films barely released or turn in easy studio hack work, or a combination of the two when he decided that 13 years was enough time to take another stab at Cabin Fever. I'm honestly more baffled by how often he's trotted out as some kind of knowledgeable expert for more serious looks into horror, since everything he writes always comes off as someone who really wishes that he'd get back to talking about how gnarly that one kill was, rather than anything insightful about any subject. The section of the liner notes he wrote for Cannibal Holocaust is some especially vapid nonsense.

But yeah, he's always projected big "frat boy date rapist" vibes from day one, so little of this is surprising, even as it is deeply traumatizing for those he preyed upon.

Don't forget the other frat bro joke by including a scene with the character masturbating in his cell with a dead body in front of him because he's trying to relieve the tension.... smh

Eli Roth has always been a gross piece of shit.

It just turns out he was an even grosser piece of shit than I realized.

I know it's trite to come into one of these threads and say the person always seemed like the type... but Eli Roth really always seemed like the type.

Honestly, I've never seen any of his movies.

The only thing I've seen him in acting wise was Inglorious Basterds.

Glad I've never seen his work. Piece of shit human is piece of shit. No surprises his works seemingly reflect that from what I'm seeing in the comments here. Fuck this guy. Hope he goes down because of this. This shit needs to be rammed home that's not acceptable behavior.

Wow, this really is the least surprising news isn't it? I figured I had Roth down pat just from seeing a few flicks and hearing him talk about movies, and it turns out I did. He always seemed like the biggest stereotypical dudebro that watched horror movies because theys gots tits in em. Always seemed like a phony as well and got his break out of sheer luck. The man couldn't find the forest for the trees if he was asked a semi intelligent question about the genre. I imagine for him it would always boil down to, "yeah I don't know about that, but did you see when he cut her head off? That chick looked so fucking hot. I wonder why I didn't see her naked?"

I am admittedly not the biggest horror genre fan and I find over the top gore to be needless but nothing offensive most of the time, yet in the case of Riki-Oh fucking hilarious. A lot of the horror movies I've been coerced into watching are thinly veiled torture porn with cardboard cutout characterization and a vacuum of narrative logic.

But nothing really made me feel like the director could actually be a sociopathic violent offender like when I watched Green Inferno. I shut that shit off after 25 or so minutes and never turned back. Roth is a sick fuck and hearing he's a predator really isn't much of a surprise. His homophobia, racism and sexism are in full display in his movies. Fuck Eli Roth.

Hostel was just trying to emulate the feel of the New French Extremety and was probably the first contact americans had with it. But he forgot that a big part of the moviment was also the engaging stories that complemented the gore shock.

"Knock, Knock" is a very different film now. It was already a really fucked up movie, but especially now. Didn't know his wife left him. Very curious if she's got stories about the set of Knock Knock considering the subject matter.

Totally unsurprising, Eli Roth was a horror director without a lot of the brains that made the exploitation horror cinema that he loves so much interesting. So all you ended up with is problematic horror films without a lot of the clumsy substance.

This is the guy who thought it was a good idea to remake Death Wish, with a lot of inspiration from Death Wish 3, in the year of our lord 2018. Death Wish was already a super half assed character study that devolved into straight white panic fascist propaganda by the third movie...and that's the one that Eli Roth apparently was inspired by the most. And you think it's a good time to release a movie like that when a school in Florida got shot up, Las Vegas got shot up and police brutality against minorities is running rampant? Spam for brains at the bare minimum.

The first Cabin Fever and Hostel were good for their time. I've not seen him develop or show growth as his filmography continued and a bit surprised to be honest thst he is still on the radar.

Same. Any time I've seen him referred to (largely in marketing of course) as "Master of Horror" or some such, it's absolutely boggled my mind.

Eli Roth sounds like he is an asshole

But jesus, the way people fling around the term nazi these days is not good. That is a pretty big thing to suggest that someone might be associated with and you just post it without giving it a 2nd thought

I saw both in their time. Always thought Cabin Fever was .. not good. I remember back then friends touting the non sequitur pancake scene as being worth the price of admissions and I didn't get it.
