Orient Cable, a regional cable provider in Dipolog City in the Zamboanga del Norte district of the Philippines, aired a badly pirated version of Endgame, according to the Philippine News Agency.
Teatro de Dapitan, a local movie theater chain in the region, is suing Orient Cable for the obvious piracy, according to the Philippine News Agency.
The cable provider hasn’t issued a statement about its decision to run the pirated version of Endgame. Was it a prank, or perhaps a chance to hop on the most-talked about movie of the year? Orient Cable also hasn’t commented on or acknowledged that, by airing Endgame, it broke about three different federal Philippine laws, including the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, the Anti-Camcording Act, and the Cybercrime Prevention Act, according to Vice.

Deciding to run a badly pirated copy of a new movie on your local channel is fucking bad ass and they also deserve to be sued. But it's still amazing.

This is actually quite common in Asian countries but has changed in recent years. I remember seeing pirated copies of new film releases quite often when I've traveled to India for example.

I would be pretty amused to just be flipping through my local stations and see cellphone-quality Endgame.

I bet The Mouse isn't amused, though.

Like yes they should be sued and possibly go out of business because the lawsuit is going to be huuuge.

But they should realize they-re screwed and just go out like bosses with this.

Doesn't sound like anything was ruined. If anything, this only added to the entertainment value of the overall situation. Lol.

I mean the movie probably lost like $10 million. I think they'll be okay, as it's not likely that A) everyone who wanted to see endgame tuned in to the pirate broadcast or B) many will watch it on the big screen in non-tater quality even if they caught the stream

Of course big D may choose to make an example out of them and show them that Mickey is inevitable

Ruined for Philippine viewers is too much of an exaggeration. It only covered a small portion of the country, plus most already watched it on cinemas on opening week.

Yeah here in Pampanga at SM the cinema is Avengers all day on 5 out of 6 screens then on just 1 screen there's Curse of La Llorona

But it was free and they didn't have to deal with movie theater audiences. I'm sure people that didn't want to watch the pirated version on TV probably chose not to.
I’ve seen some cam rips and this isn’t always true. You get people laughing, coughing, people standing up in front of the cam, etc.

Can’t fully escape the theater experience until it’s close to being [legally] released on digital.

Yeah, you would have to watch a 3 hour movie to get spoiled.

If you were just flipping channels I don't think you could get spoiled unless they were just gifs on repeat.
See now I just want to buy time on public access to show gifs on repeat. Not necessarily spoiling endgame, maybe just dogs doing goofy stuff.
