Humans

But I acknowledge that I've lost this battle, and just have less games to pay attention to each year.

I don't think we should strengthen the current censorship regulations because this would only galvanize censors, fueling the fire for the them to block much more content. Where would the censorship end? Once everyone can only play Sesame Street games?

If you feel uncomfortable playing a game, don't buy it. Don't play it. There are other people out there that enjoy horror games, etc. Don't ruin it even further for them!

Please tell me you have played Subnautica!

I bought Abzu but have yet to play it after I saw one PS Access video of there being segments of great and dark depths and not to mention sudden sharks. And then I saw the game Subnautica.

While I would never play the game, I have watched let's plays of it and it is far less stressful. Furthermore, I have seen the ultimate deep sea life-form in that game and for me, it does illicit the same terror as something like great white shark (even though I have come to love sharks over the years). There is a primal fear associated with that bodily shape as a silhouette in the distance rapidly closing in, compared to a more explicitly foreign design.

Honestly anything that swims. Sharks, crocodiles, eels, undersea monsters... Keep it.

I have enough heart attacks with sharks in older games like the original Tomb Raiders or Resident Evil games. Don't know how I ever finished SOMA.

As an example:
GIANT ENEMY SPIDERS AND INSECTS IN GENERAL
I can't handle this in games now, lol. (Mostly insects, I'm pretty okay with spiders.) Nope'd outta New Vegas because of the bloatflys and still haven't attempted trying again.

Also, add me to the list of people who can't stomach the glorified torture porn that is TLOU II.

Yeah I'm all for nice and crispy graphics, but we're gonna have to use some artistic styling for me to keep having fun killing human types (unless the point is to be uncomfortable like in TLoU). Also, VR cockroaches should be illegal.

The great mighty poo in conkers bad fur day. With today's tech that part would make me want to puke. Just imagine that scene with the Death Stranding engine lol. That would by scary and unsettling.

Ants. I don't know any games with realistic giant ants, but I pray they never exist as I will immediately play them anyway and die of heart attack.

I'm terrified of the clickers and infected in TLOUII. Imagine some of the scary situations you'll find yourself in in the sequel.

RE2 bout to have some enemies types I do not look forward to facing.

The Flood from Halo if they ever come back. Lots of Bloodborne enemies if they get a sequel on PS5. Any gross boii basically.

Personally I would like to see more enemy diversity in games. We basically fight white dudebros in almost every video game.

I don't want to fight realistic looking humans. Especially if my weapons are realistic looking guns that affect the enemies in a creepily realistic way.

Also zombies, but I've never liked them. Including zombies that the game tries to call something else because it doesn't want to be a zombie game, but they're still totally zombies.

Humans. I don't mean generic bad guys shooting at you like Uncharted or Call of Duty, I mean filthy, ugly, psychopath junkies like in Condemned (or Manhunt) for example. Also bears and any trypophobia inducing shit.

Man... Now imagine in a few years when VR reaches near realistic graphics.

I have not, but I've heard it's great! It's on the list for sure. Is it that scary? I might need to move it up the list a couple notches lol.
Yeah, it's pretty Damn scary because of the unique behaviours of the sea life that makes for an unpredictable intensity. Adam Millard did a great video essay on how Subnautica uses terror.

Serious answer: I've started getting a bit uncomfortable with graphic deaths of human enemies. I recall watching the BF3 trailer and the bit where they stab a guy in the neck just feels a bit too much when it's in the context of "cool multiplayer".

I've realized that Snakes and Crocodiles scare the shit outta me, luckily enough they aren't as common in games.

Deep sea has scared me since PS1 days with Treasures of the Deep, so not sure if new graphics would change anything.

I had to nope out of Subnautica despite it being such a fantastic game.
