Thats ur assumption . Nowhere in the article it mentions unlocked frame .I'm holding judgement till I see some proper performance reviews. A wonky, unlocked frame rate which flits wildly between 45 and 60 is not, in my view, proper 60 fps.

Same. I remember Digital Foundry mentioning that alot of games shown during the presentation looked like they were running at native 4k, and that was actually a waste of resorces since checkboard tech has evolded to the point it upscales to 4k wirh pretty much the same image quality, leaving more resorces available than pushing native 4k.
It be interesting to see what the actual resolution is for both systems. A stable native 4k 60 seems hard to believe.
My only reason is because of how bad Odyssey and Origins run on modern PC hardware. Why is it so hard to believe that a cross gen game would be able to run 4K/60fps on next gen consoles? It might not be on the highest settings or with ray-tracing, that a 4K/30fps mode would offer.
That's why he said he'd wait for performance testing. Killzone Shadowfall was "60fps" for MP. We remember how that turned out.Thats ur assumption . Nowhere in the article it mentions unlocked frame .
That depends. Even a blind person can spot the differences between RDR2 on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.It's not as impressive as real 4k, but I don't think the average person can really tell the difference
Just going by past performance at native 4k. Also consoles have never run the game at 60 fps. So this would be a 1st for them. Why is it so hard to believe that a cross gen game would be able to run 4K/60fps on next gen consoles? This.
Still, it's great to see the PS5 keeping up, and getting many 60fps games as well. I really hope devs keep targeting it this gen, or keep giving us options.
I don't understand that 4k native massive push. I would take 1440p with great graphial fidelity over native 4k any time
On team "fake" 4K. The last couple of Assassin's Creed games have been difficult as hell to run on even high end PC hardware at that res and framerate. But will be interesting to see once DF gets their hands on it.
and before that plenty figured even reaching 60 from an AC game, considering Odyssey, was not gonna happen. Great news.
Until Digital Foundry or the like takes a look at it statements like these mean nothing. "4K" is used incredibly loosely. More likely than not it's dynamic res on XBX and PS5.
A 2080 has trouble running Odyssey at 4K/60 on Ultra. If anything I could see paired down shadows and draw distances. I am expecting a dynamic or reconstructed 4K which is fine if the aim is 60.
Yeah, bizarrely angry thread responses.ERA really hates to be happy. A big sprawling open world game will be running at 4K60 on a $399 machine and people still aren't satisfied. Many concern trolls here are offshoot from "RE8 PS5 development troubles" FUD.
Ironically the best thing next-gen could do for us is have everyone focus on reconstruction and using that additional perf in other ways (like additional IQ / RT / FPS etc)"The days of checkerboard 4K should be over for now"
My young Padawan
That is gonna happen. We see it already now. And will happen more and more next gen. Its gonna be a no brainer.Ironically the best thing next-gen could do for us is have everyone focus on reconstruction and using that additional perf in other ways (like additional IQ / RT / FPS etc)
odysey pc is also running on dx11 api which is completely choked by drawcalls for games this scale.
Anvil already got a vulkan patch with Breakpoint and it lifted up performance all across the board. Not dramatically, but if valhalla is built for dx12/vulkan from the get go, it could actually run better than odyssey.

Really, it is.
Low core CPUs have been pretty poor performance wise in recent AC games so it looks like the Devs are hitting the ground running tech wise. I think AC as a launch game is going to be quite the spectacle and a big "oh wow" for gamers who are use to 30fps. On my I5 4670k and 1080 I spent most of Odyssey at 45fps, so I'm very excited to try Valhalla out.
Of course it is. The UE 5 demo and TLoU II on Pro are here to prove it.Honestly native 4K is overrated . 1440p and up with good AA still looks sharp on a 4K screen

But I am not worried, it's a cross gen titles.
Sounds like there won't be much difference in multiplats
good news
I am very close of my 55" 4K OLED TVIt depends though... it looks good on a TV from 8 feet away, but not on a monitor 3 feet away or on a large Tv from closer. But I think reconstruction techniques make a big difference as well. I do not know if the consopels will get something like DLSS in the future, but if they do, that's going to be the way to go for most games.
