I'm not a hardcore player. Haven't done any endgame. Haven't leveled quickly—but I never level quickly in MMOs or games like this. Heck, there's a vast swath of the map I haven't even explored yet. I have sunk about 100 hours or more into 76, though, and while there are aspects of the game that irritate me, mostly it works enough to keep me coming back.
I specifically look forward to C.A.M.P. encounters. I love building, decorating, and tending to my C.A.M.P. My favorite moments in the game are when another player stumbles upon my brick home near Riverside Manor and makes him or herself comfortable there. I've had nothing but friendly visitors who come in, emote their hellos, use my workbenches, repair their power armor, cook some food, sleep in my bed, help themselves to the purified water I make freely available, play a little bass while I bang the piano, and sit on my front porch and watch the sunset with me before they head off to whatever they're doing next. Most of my (admittedly limited) friends list in 76 consists of people who added me after visiting my C.A.M.P.
I also enjoy, whenever I spy them, making a beeline to visit other people's C.A.M.P.s. I've run across a few cleverly built within existing ruins. I've admired thoughtful builds in unusual places. I've inspected the many one-square-footprint floating wood shacks. And a few times I've hung out with strangers in their C.A.M.P.s for extended periods of time because, like me, they enjoy sharing them with, and showing them off to, someone else.
Even without mics and using nothing but emotes, we'll play instruments together, coordinate poses to snap pics, and swap spare plans and ammo, and just generally bum around together before eventually parting.
I've rarely experienced anything other than this goofy geniality between players in all the hours I've sunk into it, and it's a big part of what keeps me going back.
