Went ahead and deleted what was originally in this post. It wasn't against the rules or anything, but I reread it and it felt a bit immature. I strive to be better than that. :)

Greg Miller and Kindafunnygames is chilling pretty hard for Fallout 76. Not sure why. They justified spending 30 minutes and still failing trying to invite someone to the group with "that's like every multiplayer game though". Pretty cringeworthy.

Yeah heaven forbid they have a different opinion. Jesus, I guess people comprehend that.

Damn. This isn't even an actual game they developed. It's like, a prototype.

"hey, boss, the six of us developed that prototype of multiplayer fallout management asked for. It's just a proof of concept, but I think if we were to do a proper design and development cycle, we might have-"

"Ship it."

"I'm sorry?"

"Just dump all the class dependencies from skyrim/fallout 4 into a new repository with the prototype code, get the Makefiles working and compiling without errors... and ship the damn thing. We need the easy cash ASAP. Don't bother with scrubbing or refactoring or any of that, it's a waste."

"Um, okay..."

I saw a picture of what is apparently Fallout 76 coding related to that flying scorchbeast that explicitly mentions in the code the word "dragon".

I don't know if that's fake or not but honestly I am very inclined to believe that it's a legit pic.
Yeah, that will be legit, but it's not too unusual in games sharing the same engine. Skyrim's killcam system is still called VATS in its ini files for example. It's retooling a popular system from one game to work in another. I think the issue with Scorchbeats is it feels like they needed a big new feature for 76 besides just multilayer, didn't have time to develop one, so just imported the dragons from their last gen hit and hoped they would still impress. Definitely feels... odd.

Opinions can be nonsense and trash, it's a stupid thing to hide behind , not surprised though

This is honestly gold. Seriously becoming psychotic how this forum is going on about this. Like it's a game with a lot of problems but with the reactions people get you'd think Betheseda raided their home, eat their food and kicked their dog. It's a fucking vindictive atmosphere going on.

Or maybe it's trash and the BGS defense squad is delusional ? Stop apologizing for them and for a studio that has coasted for years on good will Or just go home Todd

Or you know... Maybe it's just a *really* bad game getting called out for what it is?

Uh huh because handwaving nonsense from people who are still refusing to hold BGS accountable for this with "'ITS AN OPINION GUYZ" is the height of nuanced thought and discussion. Spare me , then again if you want to die on the freaking Fallout 76 Hill go right ahead lol

It's the newest thing to hate on the internet (imho rightfully so). Nothing more nothing less. Betheseda fucked up big time, gamers don't like it, it's a hot topic to discuss. Not worth it getting riled up about it. There are other topics on resetera you might enjoy more. Just ignore it.

Complaining about what the discussion has become when you're the one claiming that people are behaving as if Bethesda raided their home, ate their food, and kicked their dog. Cool.

Because maybe some people actually enjoy the game? Have you deluded yourself so much that very easy thought is somehow incomprehensible? This is truly becoming incredibly embarrassing.

Good to know you have no other argument than, "Your either with us or against us."

What argument can be given when you'll just be regurgitating " Opinions how do they work" no matter how many issues and negative reactions you see ?
" ITz fUn WitH fRieNdS"
This is what's upsetting, BGS releases this mess and people still apolgize and defend them, when only by causing an uproar will they be forced to improve in the future. Helluva hill to die on.

I'm not dying on any hill and I'm not defending them for releasing a buggy mess. I've seen enough of the problems myself and have felt extreme frustration. I know the issues that plague the game. I'm just mature enough to know that there are plenty of reasons people can still enjoy the game, because as you seem to lack understanding. People do have differing opinions. The fact that people are calling out those who are enjoying the game says so much more about them the people they're lambasting. It's honestly sad.

I mean , that's just your opinion ( heavy sarcasm) . Really though , it was mister anime avatar that decided to start cursing up a storm and getting directly personal and hyperbolic with people . Quite shocking. You're right though tbh, that's enough internet for today.

The post you quoted to spark the current back and forth wasn't about having different opinions though. It was about some people excusing something that is objectively bad by saying that every multiplayer game is like that, when that's not the case

Anime avatar really that's what your going with? Just a personal drawing but whatever, just try to undercut a persons argument by attacking the person instead. That's what the best people do.

Is this real? If so then probably thread worthy..
FO76 is a fucking mess but this aint thread worthy. Game under the same engines have assets left in all the time. This is nothing new.

It would be best to focus on the actual negative qualities of this game instead of making this an issue where it shouldn't be.

This really puts pressure on their next game to be a significant improvement from a technical standpoint. Visually and regarding bugs..... But that's what I thought after every of their games haha

Unless they massively overhaul their engine tech, it's not going to be that big. With 76 bombing, all the pressure is on their next project, which is probably Elderscrolls... Hopefully...

You didn't see their last E3? Starfield is first, then TESVI .

With everything that's happened around F76, I can see them either delaying both to finally get to work on their toolkit, or push Starfield back and focus on TESVI to recoup the losses they made on 76.

Am also wondering what's going to happen to Bethesda Austin. One project canned, one project panned...

Looking at this whole fuck up i really think Bethesda "went" cheap with this experiment and Bethesda Austin is in a difficult position.

In the long run they will fix the game and make some millions, i just don't udnerstand why Zenimx didn't expand Zenimax Online and made Fallout76 for themselves like they did with TES Online.

Because BGS saw this as an opportunity to add networking components to their engine, while piggybacking onto a smaller project. This game was originally meant to be an expansion to Fallout 4, but somebody got greedy and decided to spin it out as a separate game.

Ahh forgot about Starfield. After 76, I am sure most people are watching what they do carefully.

Hah! Do you really believe they would clean their act or rather clean up their engine even after this fiasco?

Look at Skyrim PS3, the very prime example of BGS never learning their lesson. The game is still a unplayable mess despite the patches.

BGS doesn't give a shit as long as they got your money. This strengthens by the fact they scummily weaved in conditions on PC copies to prevent you from getting a refund from them.

The good news is they've been hiring engineers like crazy to retool their engine for next gen for years now. We've also heard in interviews Todd taking about an entirely new animation system for Starfield. We know they're making big changes, and with Fallout 76 they'll want to make absolutely certain the improvement is mindblowing, like the Morrowind to Oblivion upgrade was.

The question that remains is why 76 happened, and how. We're still not sure how many people were really working on this project, because there's no way it takes a team 2-3 times the size of Fallout 4's three years to produce an asset flip with a weak story, no branching quests, no dialogue, no towns/cities, no NPCs etc. Say what you want about Bethesda's game quality in Skyrim/FO4, but there was undeniably a lot of game there whether you enjoyed it or not. With 76 they asset flipped and... well that's about it. The theory I'm leaning towards is that Starfield was originally intended for current gen consoles, but hardware issues prevented them from achieving the scope they had for the game so it was restarted as a next-gen project. To keep the board members happy and the bank balance looking healthy, they still needed another current gen game in the interim, so the concept of 76 was born. Because really, I don't even think the idea of 76 being an ESO equivalent (keeping Fallout fans engaged until the next real Fallout releases) works when it's a current gen game and an asset flip. We all know Starfield is next, then TES6, then maybe Fallout 5, which means late PS5 gen at the earliest. And not even the biggest Fallout 76 fan would suggest this game is going to get a PS5 patch and be a great Fallout game there for the next 7+ years...

said it a million times before but ESO is a completely different thing and MMORPGs are a tough business compared to several years ago when everybody wanted their piece of the WoW pie (and even then you'd bleed money and most likely fail). also ESO was even a bigger tire fire than this game and it took a small miracle for it to recover, which wasn't an overnight thing, so not so sure zenimax would want to play with that box of matches again. wouldn't particularly be "easy money"

and personally a 'theme park' Wasteland just seems way more awful than what we got with Fallout 76, but thats my take

I think they'll deliver on the gameplay front and still have a ton of bugs but they'll get a pass again because the game will be fun outside of the technical issues. Again.

"Um, okay..."

It's basically a shell to front for the Atomic Shop. With paid mods and TESO having its overpriced crown store, Bethesda wanted to use that Fallout IP and get the MTs flowing.

The crown store in TESO is a joke, overpriced is understating it, but it scrapes by because the game is currently actually good (and fun).
