ComputerBase (German; launch build)
Guru3D (English; launch build)
PCLab (Polish; review build)

🎩 Tips and tricks:
Cap the frame rate/potentially improve frame times: Download RivaTuner Statistics Server (if you use MSI Afterburner, then you already have it installed), input your desired framerate limit in the "Framerate limit" box, and hit Enter . Alternatively, those with an Nvidia GPU can either cap the frame rate at the driver level via the Nvidia Control Panel (requires the 441.87+ drivers) or use Nvidia Inspector to force a vsync internal lower than one-half (click the small tool icon to open the game profile section).
Note: Useful if your system can't maintain, say, 60fps and you're sensitive to the wild fluctuations, or you're experiencing uneven frame times. The greater window the engine has to render a given frame, if you're imposing a lower frame rate than the game can otherwise provide, may also help in alleviating stuttering related to data streaming.

IQ was bad for FC5? I never buy Ubisoft open world games on PC anymore because I always have stuttering issues on them with my 6600.

One complaint I have with both FC5 and New Dawn is that you have to choose between noticeable input latency (vsync) or screen tearing (no vsync).

This is the best example of a CPU bottleneck that I've ever seen.
I'm not complaining, just saying. Please also take a look at the 8700k/2080Ti results.

Ryzen 3000 I need you.

I've heard the game struggles particularly hard on Ryzen. With luck, it might get some performance patches for AMD users.

I wouldn't say struggling. It's fine, especially if you play on a 60Hz display or higher resolutions.
The same behavior or Ryzen bottlenecking was already observed in FC5 btw. I played through it on a ryzen based system and was able to get 90-110 fps in most cases. Sure, Intel would give you higher FPS though.

What was your issue with the image quality?

It looks terrible. Some of the worst taa ive ever seen. From vids on gamersyde it doesnt seem to affect the consoles. In motion its a smeary and shimmery mess. its bad enough that i cant even play the game after the first 45 mins. Imagine constantly squinting and rubbing your eyes trying to clear up your vision but it doesnt work. Thats what playing far cry 5 feels like on PC

I'm getting way worse performance than I was expecting. It's stuttery and the framerate is all over the place regardless of settings. My RAM usage is way high too at 11-12 gb.

Strangely my CPU (i7 4790k) and GPU (GTX 1080) are barely pushed past 50-55% so I just can't figure out why it runs so badly. I have nothing happening in the background, installed on a Samsung SSD, latest drivers.

Game is severely CPU limited on my 6850K, a lot more so than FC5.

It's hitting 100% utilization on two out of twelve CPU threads here, with the rest of them being anywhere from 0% to 50%. I imagine it's even worse on a 4C/8T CPUs.

After doing a ton of tweaking the only way I have been able to remove frame drops while driving was to disable HD textures. I think the engine just can't handle streaming them while the player is moving quickly.

This is on a 1070ti, i7 7700 16 gig RAM system.

I get micro stutter / hitching with an 8750H and a laptop 1070. I don't have any HD textures installed.

Does it still stutter like Far Cry 5 (typically on item pickup/autosave) ?
IIRC, one cause of auto-save stutter is Uplay and the game being installed on different drives. Ubi make outstanding PC ports as far as controls and options and general visual improvements go, but microstutter is a weirdly common issue across all their FC games since FC3. I mean, as far as I can tell a minority are affected, but if you are affected it can be baffling trying to diagnose WHY.

my stutters are just from exploring the world.

EDIT: I do have my uplay on my OS drive (M.2 NVME SSD) while the games are on a SATA SSD.

Yeah I saw that one at the time, but I was on a single SSD and still have the problem. Like you say, trying to figure out why is an absolute mind fuck, especially with radio silence from the Ubisoft on it (even after DF mentioned it!), left a bad taste in my mouth. One of those problems where "is it my PC, or is it just the game?".

I tried installing uplay and the game on the same SSD and I still get stuttering just from walking through the world.

Ryzen 2600X @ Vega 64 here. I'm at 3400 x 1440 and it seems to run quite a bit worse than 5 for me as well. Very stuttery whilst exploring the world, even though benchmarks are largely comparable. Hopefully there's a patch that smooths things out, I would hold out hope though. It seems to me that Ubisoft games don't love AMD products, even when they are branded as such.

I tried the dumbest thing and set the fps to 30 and it was pretty much smooth. I just wonder if the engine is not designed to run at higher fps?

Does anyone know if this uses the same AA as 5? I assume so. FC5 gave me massive eye strain because the game kept blurring and sharpening almost every half second, absolutely terrible. Tried turning it off, yet my eye strain remains, so maybe it wasn't the AA but another issue? I know I have a similar problem with FC4. No other FPS game does this to me. Weird.

Any way around that?

Bought it cheap on uPlay, doesnt seem to stutter as much during item pickup, but god damn it likes a good hitch just driving around.

Ubisoft must have fooled me 5 times already, shame on me.
