Fightful is saying Ali is out of the EC match with an injury. No replacement is known at this time.
Super bummer for him.
Meltzer and Alvarez were having an interesting conversation on WOR a day or two ago where they were talking about the best approach to TV for AEW. Meltzer seemed to be more in favor of 1-2 TV shows per month in order to prevent oversaturation of talent and to keep things fresh, while Alvarez was in favor of a weekly one hour TV show with a "big show" on a monthly basis. I couldn't help but agree with Meltzer, as the oversaturation of wrestling (in terms of the number of TV hours per week and also how accessible/available wrestlers are on social media and such) has kinda made wrestlers in recent years feel less special and less like big attractions compared to how things were in the 90's. People will obviously argue that the industry was inevitably trending toward all of this anyways, but it's interesting to consider both approaches
Have we talked yet about Dave's weird logic that because AEW got 12,000 presale code requests that they could sell 50,000 tickets if they had the space
Because we should definitely talk about that

What I want / think they need.
- The show must be live. When it comes to wrestling, live wrestling usually does way better than taped. Also, the big money tv-deals WWE gets are in part for their ability to create live content all year.
- The show needs to be weekly and at least 1 hour, 1:30 would be my preference. They are going to have at least 3 divisions: mens singe title, womens single title and tag title. Add the amount of non-titles feuds and the collaborations with their partner promotions and they need time to advance stories and have decent, lengthy matches. One lengthy match and two stories can easily take 1 hour if done well. With the amount fo wrestlers, divisions and the idea that everyone is going to get their time, they are going to need a weekly show.
- Regarding special events first they need to price them accordingly. WWE and NJPW offer them for around 10 dlls with their networks. All In was like 30-40 dlls, that is way too much if they are going the monthly route. Every 2-3 months is my sweet spot. Monthly just does not give the proper time to build feuds and just starts devaluing matches and the events. Second, they need a way to deliver the events properly. A streaming services would be ideal, even if it is too soon for one. The other option is to have them on a tv channel. If they have like 10+ events per year and charge premium for them, then I am not going to be able to afford them as I already pay for EVE and NJPW services.
everyone buy tickets and scalp them, then invest the money back into the casino
once you've turned that into a bigger pile of money we make our own promotion
Pom's twitter game is just going to be captionless photos of her in the background of her opponent's dark bedroom as they sleep, full gearWe're gonna fight in the booking room when I suggest Momo goes over Pom
And then we can sell that info to the sheets and do a match
Can't be any worse than buying tickets for Comic-Con.This is the worst ticket buying experience ever, and im a PWG regular
The system is basically the same
I used to walk up and buy them at the door, although granted that was 10 years ago
looks like "AXS Premium" sold out already (although there's probably more for public on-sale).
Meltzer said this was scaled to be a $900,000 gate before merch

I have to be curious about how they're planning to book their big shows going forward
Based on All In and the hype for AEW like you have to imagine they could sell way more tickets for the big first show. So are they purposely booking smaller ones to try and instantly sell them out for a PWG type appeal? "well oh, it's always going to sell out so I'm always going to need to buy right away" and see if you can maintain that kind of draw
hey man as long as you don't hold this photo up in a mirror it's A OK
I've got loans and expensive hobbies to pay for manlmao tickets already on the secondary with 4x-5x markup

This is what happens when you think about her name.

She always has this look like she's planning something devious.
AEW in Albert Hall is interesting. I'd certainly go, i expect a bunch of "they outdrew wwe lol" posts if they sell that place out. wwe did 2 nights on the trot against the world cup tbfGrain of salt and all that. From WrestleTalk who are hit and miss.
