I just noticed my FF7 Remake digital pre load date went from April 7th to April 2nd could they be releasing digital early or just getting slow downloads out of the way?

Just like Red Dead Redemption 2, a longer preload period for a much bigger game in size.

Well, with the huge game size and the current download speeds it would probably take me a day or two to just download it, lol.

Would be cool if they release it early, but as many here I think its to minimize the issue of the download size.

That's good to hear. I was worried with my 16 MBit connection I wouldn't make it in 2 days lol

Edit: Release the Kraken!

Is there a day one patch? Now I’m concerned about that going with physical. Maybe I should just go digital and preload.

A good decision. PSN was already slow and the decreased speed now is probably gonna take even longer.

Also, COPYING afterwards....

PSN is just slower than normal right now and FF7 is 100gb. It took me a day and a half to download gow over the weekend and that's only about 40 gigs.

Seeing a lot of people getting it on twitter make me want that they release it early on the PSN... In France the game is in basically available in most of supermarkets... Just let us play Square, you won't sell less if you release the game earlier. If people get spoiled on Twitter from early leaks they'll get angry.

Wasn’t thinking about US/International date display difference lol, can a mod fix the title?

Seen with happen with other digital games for me, iirc.
There were probably patches downloading at the same time or something. Mark Cerny went over why the whole copying thing happens at all in the PS5 deep dive (when talking about how it wont happen on ps5) and it was solely because of patches.

I see. I think FF7R might have day one patch as well.

I’ve never pre-ordered a huge digital title like this before, are day one patches typically released the day of launch or will it download before?
Usually most big games have day one patches these days. I'm having a hard time thinking of a game that didn't have one atm.

True, I usually go physical and the patch starts downloading when I put the disc in, it’s my first time to go digital for something like this so I wasn’t sure if the Day One Patch would download before or on the release date.

Day one patches are almost always at launch date. Never before which is why sometimes reviewers don't see the improvements or changes until after launch.

I'd bet they are moving the date up so they can release early, considering the whole early retail shipment thing they're doing.

Nice, was hoping this would happen because of the reduced speeds.
Now the never ending issue of trying to free up space.
