Well Honda is delivering were Renault was not. It's not that surprising surely? Especially aero-wise. It's well known that Adrian Newey is a genius.

I have even more respect for him than I already did, knowing he had to have been pretty damn good to stay that close with Max. A driver not being awful is apparently worth almost a second a lap in that car! Gasly has to have some kind of massive blackmail on RBR, is the only possible reason I can think of as to how he's still employed.Just imagine how awesome these last 4 races could have been if Ricciardo was still at Red Bull instead of this joke of a driver that is Gasly
There's always an unofficial behind-the-scenes driver ranking system in the paddock that runs on its own merits, so I assume that's what's been at work.Maybe I don't remember but Ocon wasn't this blisteringly fast guy hampered by the Force India was he? He wasn't putting Perez to shame in the same way that we see with Max/Gasly for example.
Ferrari gonna come back out of the break and fight mclaren for 4th and 5th
Ferrari should have a great car for Spa and Monza, so should be able to get pole. Question is whether they will have enough race pace to win the races.
Wonder if they'll put Mick in the car next year. Probably not.
On another note. Kimi is really getting that Alfa places. Looking forward to seeing him next year as well honestly.
edit:
Oof, Gasly probably spending his holiday securing an FE seat.
Lots of practice.I'm always amazed he doesn't drop the trophy everytime he throws it into the air.
I didn't even know what he looked like till last week while I was watching Brundles grid walk.
Ferrari seems to have gotten the car design wrong from the start of the season, upgrades haven't helped much, they've had really bad strategy calls and yet they are still #2 in the constructors thanks to Leclerc and Vettel both being good.
He's definitely on the list of drivers who need to have an awesome second half to keep their seat. If he wins 5 times, he'll probably be back. Bottas, Gasly, Grosjean, and Kubica could all be elsewhere next season.
He was on what? 22 wins when he left McLaren?I just realised that Hamilton has now been at Mercedes longer than he was at McLaren.
Such a dumb move. What was he thinking.I just realised that Hamilton has now been at Mercedes longer than he was at McLaren.
I remember when Eddie Jordan reported on that long before it happened and everybody thought it was just typical Jordan BS.
It kept me watching for the last few laps, thrilling stuff. I do kind of wonder why maybe Merc didn't pit Lewis at the same time as Max just to put on softs as well, but they probably didn't want to risk anything.I thought Merc had thrown away their chance when they pitted Hamilton, but it ended up being easier than expected. It's easy to criticise RB for keeping Max out but track position is a big deal in Hungary.
Also, another stellar performance from Sainz, RB must be kicking themselves for letting him slip away as they sure could do with him in that second car right now.
lolStats n facts time:
- STR: First time since the German GP he failed to make it out of Q1...
When was the last time Danny failed to make Q2? I know last year he didn't set a Q2 time for mechanical reasons, but best I can tell he made Q2 in every 2018 race at least.STR: First time since the German GP he failed to make it out of Q1...
Bottas 2.0 got his firmware rolled back to Bottas 1.25.I think so. He started the season really strong and has just gotten worse and now back to his 2018 form.
After the first few races, I was really hoping he would give Hamilton a run.
Nope. This is what separates the top tier drivers - consistency, lap after lap.
Crazy how Max has matured over the course of a year, let alone the past three seasons. He's definitely gearing up to be the face of F1. Just a year ago he was ready to throw fists with Ocon, now he's hugging Lewis right after losing a race.
Gasly is in Alpha.
No, Ham is the alpha. ;)
Then Gasly is the Omega of the top 3 teams.
Max is finally starting to deliver. The raw talent has always been there, now he is settled and more mature behind the wheel. Max is still far from the finished article (worryingly for everyone else).
Too many damn kids come in to F1 when they are far from ready, I hate how F1 has become a "finishing school" for young talent. I don't want to watch drivers learning their craft in F1, lower categories/formula exist for a reason.
