Life's not easy for Doug Eiffel, the communications officer for the U.S.S. Hephaestus Research Station, currently on Day 448 of its orbit around red dwarf star Wolf 359. He's stuck on a scientific survey mission of indeterminate length, 7.8 light years from Earth. His only company on board the station are stern mission chief Minkowski, insane science officer Hilbert, and Hephaestus Station's sentient, often malfunctioning operating system HERA. He doesn't have much to do for his job other than monitoring static and intercepting the occasional decades-old radio broadcast from Earth, so he spends most of his time creating extensive audio logs about the ordinary, day-to-day happenings within the station. But the Hephaestus is an odd place, and life in extremely isolated, zero gravity conditions has a way of doing funny things to people's minds. Even the simplest of tasks can turn into a gargantuan struggle, and the most ordinary-seeming things have a way of turning into anything but that.

The Night Blogger
You don't have to believe the stories on my blog, you can dismiss them as good hallucinations or bad fiction if you want to but they're all true. The darkness was never empty, there are things that wait for the innocent and unwary to turn their backs. What is it you think I'm talking about here? Ghosts? Vampires? Ghouls? If only it were that simple. The creatures of the night are still out there but they're not shadowing your every footstep. They just check your status updates from the comfort of their tombs. All I ever wanted was to be a Do-It-Yourself style reporter but more often than I like I find myself becoming part of my stories. It turns out gods and monsters don't like their secrets getting out any more than your standard politician or celebrity. We all know how this is going to turn out in the end; I'm already long overdue for jail, the looney bin or a guest of honor spot at a monster buffet but until that fateful day I'm not going to back down or give up. My name is Brian Foster and some people call me The Night Blogger. But I wish they wouldn't it's kinda cheesy.

Star Trek: Defiant
Star Trek: Defiant was an ongoing audio drama fan show produced by Pendant Productions.

The series followed the adventures of Captain Jeffrey Bridges and the crew of the USS Defiant.

The ship, and her crew, were later featured in an alternate timeline in the Darker Projects audio drama Star Trek: The Section 31 Files. This is, however, not considered canon to official Defiant storyline.

The show's history dates back to 1995, when Jeffrey Bridges and a groups of fellow Star Trek fans met online in an endeavor to start an online mailing list of Star Trek fan fiction. The crew consisted of the members on the list, and were stationed on the newly commissioned federation starship Defiant (NX-74205). This version of Defiant varies from the one featured in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as it is the federation ship USS Sao Paulo recommissioned after the apparent destruction of the original USS Defiant.

Around 2003, a group on the mailing list discussed the possibility of remaking their fan stories into an audio drama. As a result, a new audio production company named Pendant Productions emerged. Since then, the old mailing list has been decommissioned, and the series has lived on as an audio drama.

On May 29, 2012, Pendant ceased production on all fan shows and voluntarily removed them from their website.

  • Genre: Star Trek

Star Trek: Excelsior
The U.S.S. Excelsior, fourth starship to bear the name, is on a two-year mission of exploration on the far side of the galaxy. Some would call this an honor for Commander Alcar Dovan and his young crew, especially coming so soon after the tragic death of Captain Cortez and so many veteran officers at Valandria. Certainly that's what Admiral Parker's telling the press. Those with a more cynical mindset — such as, oh, I don't know, Captain Dovan himself — would call it exile, a coverup designed to keep the Excelsior out of the public eye after their shocking, top-secret discovery of a terrifying threat to the entire galaxy.

But, as the dedication plaque says, "Wherever you go, there you are," and the Excelsior crew have thrown themselves into their frontier expedition with zest. Since passing through the ancient Iconian Gateway that sent them to this distant region of space, they have had less and less contact with Starfleet Command, and seen sights they could have never imagined. But why is this area so full of Iconian ruins? And why, after a quarter of a million years, are so many of them starting to show signs of life?
  • Genre: Star Trek

Infected
Across America a mysterious disease is turning ordinary people into raving, paranoid murderers who inflict brutal horrors on strangers, themselves, and even their own families. Working under the government's shroud of secrecy, CIA operative Dew Phillips crisscrosses the country trying in vain to capture a live victim. With only decomposing corpses for clues, CDC epidemiologist Margaret Montoya races to analyze the science behind this deadly contagion. She discovers that these killers all have one thing in common - they've been contaminated by a bioengineered parasite, shaped by a complexity far beyond the limits of known science. Meanwhile Perry Dawsey - a hulking former football star now resigned to life as a cubicle-bound desk jockey - awakens one morning to find several mysterious welts growing on his body. Soon Perry finds himself acting and thinking strangely, hearing voices . . . he is infected. Contagious
From the acclaimed author of Infected comes an epic and exhilarating story of humanity's secret battle against a horrific enemy. Across America, a mysterious pathogen transforms ordinary people into raging killers, psychopaths driven by a terrifying, alien agenda. The human race fights back, yet after every battle the disease responds, adapts, using sophisticated strategies and brilliant ruses to fool its pursuers. The only possible explanation: the epidemic is driven not by evolution but by some malevolent intelligence. Standing against this unimaginable threat is a small group, assembled under the strictest secrecy. Their best weapon is hulking former football star Perry Dawsey, left psychologically shattered by his own struggles with this terrible enemy, who possesses an unexplainable ability to locate the disease's hosts. Violent and unpredictable, Perry is both the nation's best hope and a terrifying liability. Hardened CIA veteran Dew Phillips must somehow forge a connection with him if they're going to stand a chance against this maddeningly adaptable opponent. Alongside them is Margaret Montoya, a brilliant epidemiologist who fights for a cure even as she reels under the weight of endless horrors. These three and their team have kept humanity in the game, but that's not good enough anymore, not when the disease turns contagious, triggering a fast countdown to Armageddon. Meanwhile, other enemies join the battle, and a new threat — one that comes from a most unexpected source — may ultimately prove the most dangerous of all.

Crescent is the ultimate sci-fi / horror mashup. It's a wicked blend of the claustrophobia seen in Ridley Scott's Alien, and the viral demonology of Carpenter's Prince Of Darkness with the hard-drinkin' bad attitude of Battlestar Galactica added for good measure. Book 5: Shores Beyond the World
An honorable prince. A jaded assassin. Can they work together to catch a pirate? Those with paws eat those with hooves. This is what the wyvern gods of Wefrivain teach. The fauns of the islands are the slaves and food animals of their paw-footed counterparts, and the wyverns maintain the hierarchy. In return, wyverns are fed and worshiped. These days, however, faun pirates are spreading new ideas. Their charismatic leader, Gwain, has taught them to kill wyverns, and they are effectively killing off Temple Police. Gwain's pirates are starting to worry Morchella, the Priestess of the wyvern cult. She thinks she's found an answer in the person of Gerard Holovar, the new captain of her Temple Police. However, upon his promotion, Gerard strikes up a quarrel with Silveo Lamire, the admiral of Morchella's Temple ships and her second in command. Silveo has a reputation for cruelty, cunning, and a biting wit. He's a foxling - a minority species - and rumors say that he was once an assassin, who clawed his way to power from a childhood of poverty and abuse. He cultivates serial affairs with persons ranging from his own lieutenants to dock prostitutes. On the surface, Silveo could not be more different from Gerard - a member of the dominant species class, born to money and power, adhering to strict codes of honor, and devoted to his wife. When Gerard is promoted, Silveo is intimidated. Gerard's presence seems to jeopardize the position Silveo has painfully carved out for himself. Silveo threatens to kill Gerard if he stays with the Temple service. In spite of their differences, Morchella believes that Gerard and Silveo have between them the skills to catch Gwain. She orders them to work together. They make little progress until Silveo meets Gerard's wife, Thessalyn, and hears her sing. Silveo is generous to Thessalyn and vocal in his admiration of her talents. Gerard finds it difficult to hate anyone who is kind to his wife. The three of them develop a complex friendship that deepens as details from their pasts reveal that they have more in common than they thought.

Nocturnal
Homicide detective Bryan Clauser is losing his mind. How else to explain the dreams he keeps having—dreams that mirror, with impossible accuracy, the gruesome serial murders taking place all over San Francisco? How else to explain the feelings these dreams provoke in him—not disgust, not horror, but excitement.

As Bryan and his longtime partner, Lawrence "Pookie" Chang, investigate the murders, they learn that things are even stranger than they at first seem. For the victims are all enemies of a seemingly ordinary young boy—a boy who is gripped by the same dreams that haunt Bryan. Meanwhile, a shadowy vigilante, seemingly armed with superhuman powers, is out there killing the killers. And Bryan and Pookie's superiors—from the mayor on down—seem strangely eager to keep the detectives from discovering the truth.

Doubting his own sanity and stripped of his badge, Bryan begins to suspect that he's stumbled into the crosshairs of a shadow war that has gripped his city for more than a century—a war waged by a race of killers living in San Francisco's unknown, underground ruins, emerging at night to feed on those who will not be missed.

And as Bryan learns the truth about his own intimate connections to the killings, he discovers that those who matter most to him are in mortal danger…and that he may be the only man gifted—or cursed—with the power to do battle with the nocturnals.

Featuring a dazzlingly plotted mystery and a terrifying descent into a nightmarish underworld—along with some of the most incredible action scenes ever put to paper, and an explosive, gut-wrenching conclusion you won't soon forget — Nocturnal is the most spectacular outing to date from one of the genre's brightest stars.

Chatterbox Audio Theater
Chatterbox Audio Theater was created in 2007 by four friends with a lot of creativity and ambition but very little money. Based in Memphis, TN, with additional productions created in Kansas City, MO, Chatterbox creates fully soundscaped audio works for free streaming and download. Most Chatterbox shows are recorded live, with manual sound effects and as little post-production editing as possible.

At least that's what they say on the site. Personally, I think their goal it to fuck you up with the most unnerving stories they can find.

Curious Echoes
Once upon a time (in 2002 in fact), Louis Gutierrez and Sharon Moskowitz (two good friends with a mutual history of sketch comedy, improvisation, writerly experimentation, and dedicated geekdom) went to a big convention and saw – er, heard the brilliant Atlanta Radio Theatre Company at work. Whereupon, the glint of mad creation came into their eyes, and they turned to each other and said, "Hey, we can do that."

This made the audience rather unhappy, as they were all trying to listen to the show.

Nevertheless, the two persevered, and found that they could not, in fact, "do that." They would need help. So they dragged in their loved ones and invited other funny, exhibitionist, writerly- and improvisationally-inclined geeks to help. The result was curious.

After many open auditions, we've grown beyond the original members. Performers at heart, all members have the opportunity to act. But what makes us different?

We also take on the very specialized roles in the writing, recording and production. Our approach is Guerrilla style, for the moment, but we do try to get the best out of the resources we have at hand.

We're interested in a more flexible medium to experiment with the story narrative. Thanks to technology, it's possible to produce audio theater on a less expensive scale allowing far more artistic freedom. imagine blowing up a starship on a $200 budget!

We're determined to make something of our own. We make interesting noises together. Sometimes the noises are just silly. Sometimes they make stories appear in your head.

Variant Frequencies
Variant Frequencies is a podcast that stretches the entire bandwidth of genre fiction, modulated by a constant element of the fantastic. Every month we give you a new story.

Aftermath & other Audio Drama stories
Welcome to 2016. For the past five years the world has become an increasingly unstable place. The threat of war between China and the USA had loomed heavily over the rest of the world. Britain, now a small, insignificant and bankrupt nation, initially, as always, had sided with the USA. But relations quickly broke down beyond repair between the two nations, leaving the UK an isolated and unimportant outcast in world diplomacy.

Faced with two gigantic, power hungry enemies on either side, things go from bad to worse in the UK when an attack on the country's power and communications leaves its citizens without electricity, television, phone or internet. After nearly a fortnight, and with nothing more than speculation available about who carried out the attack and why, looting and riots spread throughout towns and cities like wildfire.

Rumours of an emergency radio broadcast promising help, information, food and water in the centre of every city sees millions of people on the move as they try to head for safety, hoping that the crisis may be at an end.

In reality, nothing can be further from the truth. In a car park, half way up Falkland Hill in Fife, a group of people who fled from the riot stricken towns below watch out over the river Forth in horror as Edinburgh is blitzed by a missile attack from the sky. The lucky ones are killed by the blasts, but anyone else close enough is subjected to the chemicals unleashed by the explosions. A devastating chemical attack turns ordinary people into bloodthirsty savages, and Scotland as we know it, changes forever.
And now… this is the Aftermath.

Their only hope lies with an indomitable young woman who must lead them not only to answers but to survival.

A teenage girl awakens to find herself trapped in a coffin. She has no idea who she is, where she is, or how she got there. Fighting her way free brings little relief - she discovers only a room lined with caskets and a handful of equally mystified survivors. Beyond their room lies a corridor filled with bones and dust but no people and no answers.

She knows only one thing about herself - her name, M. Savage, which was engraved on the foot of her coffin. She finds herself in charge. She is not the biggest among them or the boldest, but for some reason the others trust her. Now, if they're to have any chance, she must get them to trust one another.

Whatever the truth is, she is determined to find it and confront it. If she has to lead, she will make sure they survive. Maybe there's a way out, a rational explanation, and a fighting chance against the dangers to come. Or maybe a reality they cannot comprehend lies just beyond the next turn.

The Ballad of Iron Percy
It has been twenty years since the island nation of Great Hale conquered the New World and became an empire. Lord Percival Wilmore, the Hero of Naruna Isle, has been the governor of the New Jucata since the war's end, and it has been his life's work to make the colony a peaceful and prosperous part of the Halan Empire. By all accounts, he has succeeded. The city-states of Old Jucata have been dominated utterly, the old religion has been completely supplanted by the Halan faith of the White Veil, and Jucatan goods have made Great Hale the envy of the world. He is beloved by the people, and he has ensured that this Halan colony is built to last.

But New Jucata's future is not as secure as it seems. As the head of state for the colony, Lord Wilmore is the highest legal authority in the land, and he is called upon to try a most curious prisoner. The events and outcome of this interrogation threaten to tear Halan Rule of Law apart and bring anarchy to the region.

Pandemona stands accused of being a Pak Shar - a dangerous and seductive demon previously seen only in Veil mythology. With her scarlet skin, lithe tail, and dainty set of horns, she certainly looks the part. Her way with words and alluring demeanor only serve to underscore this perception. Under Halan law, the punishment for being a demon is death by fire at the stake, but Pandemona is entitled to a fair trial by Lord Wilmore and the colony's Curate before she can be convicted and executed. This interrogation is her only chance to escape. She must use all of her wit and guile to survive.

Is Pandemona really what she appears to be? What is she here to accomplish? Is she an evil and subversive creature, sent from the Abyss to torment mankind? Or is she simply disfigured and misunderstood? Whatever the truth may be, her presence is not a good omen.

The Ballad of Iron Percy is a song of glorious triumph, written to honor Lord Wilmore's victory against overwhelming odds in the Conquest War. It is an iconic tune in New Jucata. The specifics of the verses vary in each separate rendition, but the overall tone is one of bravery, achievement, and joy.

Unfortunately for Iron Percy, his Ballad is not yet over…

Set in the year 2414, the series chronicles the misadventures of David, David and Tom, as they struggle to host a one hour radio programme from their underground bunker, complete with guests, interviews, short stories and music, whilst keeping themselves segregated from the barbaric world outside.

The show is completely real, and is somehow being beamed back through time to the 21st century, which is why you're able to listen to it now. But will people heed the threat of near-extinction that is highlighted in The Bunker, and take measures to avoid the so-called "Big Headache" that wiped out most of humankind? It's unlikely.

MarsCorp
The year is 2515 and Earth is a barren wasteland. Luckily, a terraforming colony was established on Mars at the end of the 21st century to make the red planet a safe haven for humanity. Unluckily, that colony was MarsCorp.

We take only the best, the brightest and the bravest men and women from all the dominions and outposts of civilisation. They are here to protect every one of the citizens of the Empire from threats that would haunt their dreams…if they but knew.

We stand by our motto Umbris occultati, contra furorem.

The New York Crimes
The New York Crimes is a modern radio play. It is about two twentysomething brothers who live an underachieving existence in Brooklyn, until they are hired by a reclusive writer to be private investigators for his detective agency.

Mahabharata
Mahabharata is one of the major epics of the World. It tells the story of mankind in a way which is unparalleled in world literature. Although considered by many as a Mythology, it is, in fact, the cultural history of the people of the Bharata land (India). The characters of the Mahabharata might be fictitious, but their dreams, ambitions, and flaws are very real and still exists in us. The great sage Maharishi Krishna Dwaipayan Vyasa composed the epic in Sanskrit. Later many others have contributed to the storyline. Storytellers over the ages have told the stories of Mahabharata in different anguages. Over the ages, the epic has inspired many artists, poets, writers, filmmakers, theater directors and playwrights to create new works of art. Peter Brook directed the nine-hours long play "The Mahabharata" in 1985 with an international cast. The play was staged at many venues around the World. Later, it was made into a film in 1989. The TV series Mahabharata made by B.R. Chopra is still regarded as a landmark in Indian television.

Now we make another attempt to tell the stories of Mahabharata in English for EBC radio of New Jersey.

One Among the Sleepless
"SEX, DEATH, AND NOISY NEIGHBOURS"

A killer has come to town. The victims are connected; each pointing to the next, as if in answer to the question: Who is The One?

Is it Peter Reynolds: mild-mannered office clerk pouring petrol through his neighbour's letterbox in the middle of the night?

Is it Wayne Dolan: a man whose sexual fantasies about his neighbour spiral into dangerous obsession when he learns of her secret life as a dominatrix?

Or is it Gaz: leader of three friends who love nothing more than sex, weed and partying? All women are easy prey for his charms. All except Sally. And the one who doesn't want him, is the one he has to have – whether she likes it or not.

Mick Nixon has to find the connection, because people are disappearing - and if he and Sally are ever going to share more than just lunch, he'd better hurry up, or they could be next.

Our mission is simple. We will regularly provide brand-new audio dramas for your listening pleasure. We are not limiting our content to a specific genre. If a story is compelling enough to tell, that's reason enough for us to share it. Despite our sincerest efforts to remain immature, this flexibility also means that our podcast will occasionally contain mature themes, sexual situations, violence, and possibly even existential ennui. Other times, it will not. This means we could conceivably do an episode about unicorns sharing lemonade on a nice spring day. Of course, if the unicorns start copulating, then goring each other with their horns while questioning their respective places in the universe, don't say we didn't warn you.

After calling the number on the pull tab, he meets a group of scientists with an interesting proposition: human cryogenic preservation... Thomas and his companions Vera and Doug emerge into the strange future of the twenty-third century: a world full of amazing technological advances and equally amazing people. Upon digging a little further below the surface, though, they quickly discover that this future isn't exactly the "better world" that everyone thought it would be...

Transmissions from Colony One
Transmissions From Colony One is a radio drama set in the near-future of 2057. Twenty years prior, United States President Richard Thorpe (R-CO) announced the start of a "New Dawn," a global attitude shift toward widespread space exploration. Technological advents such as fusion energy, worldwide high-speed railway systems, and internet speeds faster than ever envisioned laid the groundwork for an economic explosion, but it lacked a platform on which to occur. Thorpe gave the world an outlet for its immense wealth, asking people across the world to simply look up for humanity's future.

In the twenty years since, the world has changed drastically. MECTI (Mars Exploration, Colonization and Terraformation Initiative) was established with the goal of starting a permanent human presence on Mars. This meant using fusion-propelled rocketry, the construction of a massive space elevator to make transportation from the surface of Earth to low orbit more cost and energy-efficient, and the creation of a mammoth space station that would dwarf today's International Space Station. All of these things needed to be done in order for MECTI to work. Now, twenty years after the birth of MECTI, the first crew, MECTI-1, is about to land on the surface of Mars, in the flat expansive region of Amazonis Planitia. This will be the first manned mission to the surface of Mars, and the first of thousands of MECTI manned missions to the Red Planet.

Transmissions From Colony One chronicles the on-board recordings of MECTI-1 as the international crew of sixteen (eight men, eight women) conduct their mission…

Virtual Danger
In order to implement a radical copyright enforcement scheme, Villain requires one of Robot's core components, and he'll stop at nothing to get it; even deactivating Robot and murdering Glitterfairy when she gets in his way. Without affording Death Noodle the opportunity to recover from the loss of his two best friends, Noodle's UN handlers force him to choose between handing over Robot's body to be dissected by government scientists or tracking down and defeating Villain all by himself.

With a heroic journey that puts Death Noodle through settings, technologies, emotional and philosophical quandaries reminiscent of The Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic, Inception, The Prestige, Total Recall, The 6th Day, and The Second Untrue Trilogy, Virtual Danger delivers all the fast-paced writing and high-stakes action you've come to expect from a book in The Death Noodle Glitterfairy Robot Saga. Will Death Noodle be able to save his friends, protect the Internet, and prevent the collapse of civilization, or is he really 'just a noodle', incapable of going solo?

Wizard Cops
Wizard Cops is a weekly actual-play RPG podcast set in an American Potterverse of our own creation, emulating the style of, and paying homage to the works of J.K. Rowling. On our website, www.wizardcops.com, we have posted our podcasts, lore we've created, and campaigns so you can play along! Like any Potter nerds, we've been all over Pottermore, studied the extended lore, and fantasized about our Hogwarts affiliations. This would already lend itself to an HP-RPG, but no such thing exists. We've been playing tabletop RPGs as a group for years, and, with the inspiration of our amazing G.M., decided to make an RPG set in the Harry Potter universe... but IN AMERICA. Thus, the world of Wizard Cops was born, centered around the New York Aurors Department in New York City (because seriously, there probably are wizards in New York). Our weekly adventures are full of mystery, action, suspense, high-speed [broom] chases, and a fair deal of puns.

After the Plague

Lee and Mandy think the hotel is abandoned, a place to find food and shelter. However, Terry, a former employee who has made the hotel his own, has other ideas.

Hey! Glad to see this thread pop up over here. Was actually just thinking about it. I know you've put in a lot more work than you get responses, but I've always appreciated having such a comprehensive resource and place to go to ask questions about series I haven't checked out yet. I appreciate it!

Actually I'm just not telling podcast era this thread exists till More_Badass makes me an indie game thread. This is a hostage/blackmail situation.

Or it's a reward for my hard work. One of those two.

Awesome list. I've been listening to podcasts on and off since 2005 and have only just recently dipped my toes into the fiction side of things. Levar Burton Reads was such a chill experience while I picked up around the house that it made me want more. I look forward to plowing my way through this list!

Are there any other gritty/noir crime thriller series besides Crimewav?

Will check out Tincture, Powder Burns, Playing For Keeps, Crimewav, Edict FIS, Some Other Scotland, Crescent, and Trader's Tale

I'm particularly interested in other series that revolve around traders, merchants,tavern/inn owners, bar/pubs, etc. (besides Magic Tavern of course) That's such a good setting for an audiodrama

Ahhhh finally, I've been waiting for this.

I'll have to throw my full weight into Tribulation. After a weakish first episode it picks up a metric shit ton. Pick it up if you're into a Thriller/Mystery centered around a cult.

Tried out Tales of Passing Fantasy, first episode was bad. I'll try episode 2 and see if it's worth anything.

The Theatre of Tomorrow on the other hand seems very promising just from the first episode. Looks to be a collection of short stories which span multiple episodes. I'll chime in with more once I finish season 1.

Ars Paradoxica started season 3, so that's another thing to be looking forward to during this fall/winter season. Along with The Magnus Archives, Within the Wires, The Earth collective, and Uncanny County. Hoping The Leviathan Chronicles starts back up again soon with them.

Tried Conversations From the Abyss and the first episode was intriguing. Looking forward to more episode.

Sable still going strong throughout its second season. As always, if you can handle 1 guy doing all the voices. Pick this one up

It's a novel, but Quarter Share etc is about space traders.

Glad this thread is back.

Been falling out of love with the Night Vale podcasts. I ended up dropping Alice and Circus, and the new additions to the show have some of the most boring subject matter ever. Within the Wires used to be my favourite, but this season is lacking the idea of a two way conversation of the first one. And Night Vale itself is as uneven as always.

Looks like the next season of Mabel started today.

Dark Tome has been consistently solid. Not that good or bad, but it holds my attention if I throw it on.

The Bridge are finally getting a pateron. Hope it helps them become more consistent. The short stories that occasiinally happen on there are some of the best I've heard on a podcast.

I listened to We're Alive as it was released over the years, I've yet to find an audio drama that even comes close to the quality of that podcast. I've started a few from your suggested list (leviathan and nightingvale) but nothing else clicks.

Kind of wonder if it's just too late for Limetown season 2 to be particularly noteworthy. I can barely recall the plot of the first anymore.

It was an definitely early one in the wave of at the time oncoming fictional podcasts, and I have a decent bit of nostalgia for something that's only a couple/few years old. I wonder if I'd still like it as much compared to some of my favorites, though. I suspect not. But hey I'll keep looking forward to it, anyway!

I think I'll have to give it a relisten 'cause yeah I remember almost nothing about it.

Man, I liked We're Alive, but a lot of the voice acting is kinda... mediocre. I also think most fictional podcasts these days outdo it in terms of production values.

Same. I might back it, but I dunno. I actually really like the bridge. Like you say, those short stories are really damn good. I'm not as huge a fan of the Big Plot, but I do still enjoy it.

Rabbits is running a kickstarter for a second season with a goal of 50.000 $. That seems like an awfully high amount for a podcast that I never hear any buzz about. It made 4300 dollars in close to 24 hours.

I listened to the first 2 episodes of season one and it didn't really grab me. The second season of the Black Tapes was such a letdown that I'm also way more skeptical about new shows from them.

Has anyone listened to the season 3 of Black Tapes? Is it worth picking up again?

I can't say I ever really stopped liking The Black Tapes (or... their other one that I've forgotten the name of somehow?! EDIT: Oh right, Tanis), but I don't know why they felt the need to make more seasons. They should end it and start something new. I feel the same about Rabbits. Although I do think Rabbits is their weakest thing so far. "There's a mysterious game everyone plays!!" Yeah okay.

Nice news about Limetown.

The Blood Crow Stories started its second season today. Also, a new podcast by Paul Bae (The Black Tapes) started today called The Big Loop. It's an anthology so hopefully it won't get bogged down by the same problems that TBT had.

Glad to see some of the fictional podcast people came over. Can't wait until MAG returns, been enjoying The White Vault, a good podcast but a slow burn.

I'll check out the Big Loop, I just hope they've learned their lessons because that group of people know how to make good podcasts, just their style was too convoluted. I didn't even bother with the last season of the Black Tapes.

King Falls AM has the best holiday themed episode I've come across in a podcast ever. You're in for a treat when you get there. You'll know it when you hear it.
Man you're not wrong that episode was great. One of my fav podcasts, too.

Thanks Skittles I started listening to Tribulation. I'm on episode 4 and I'm really enjoying it, the plot is really engaging and fun. The voice actors do a great job; there's a great pace and flow to the dialogue (Reid Singer is a great character). I know we've piled on PNWS podcasts, but I think the reason is that it gets so much recognition (itunes charts, etc), and it annoys me more and more as I check out other lesser known podcasts such as Tribulation. The Black Tapes and Tanis (I haven't checked out their other ones), have overly convoluted plots, stiff dialogue, and ads in the middle of their eps which really break the immersion.

Anyways, put me down for another fan of Tribulation and the people who put it together.

Having just listened to it for the first time this year, it's definitely still up there with the rest of quality podcasts.

I'm hoping they learned from S1 and can make S2 a lot clearer when it comes to the overarching plot

I want to like The Bridge but I really struggle to keep up with what voice is what character and what the overall plot even is at any given moment.
It definitely suffers because 2 men sound similar and 2 women sound similar.

I wish Wormwood would come back. It's a top ten podcast.
I still need to finish the last 2 episodes. Wormwood is right up there with The Leviathan Chronicles for podcasts which could be turned into amazing TV shows with the right budget.

Yeap. First episode is not indicative of what most of the podcast is about. I'd say give it to the end of episode 4 before you drop it. Also, music gets really damn good at points.

My favorite thing about podcasts is that it's easy to try one out and drop it within a few episodes if you don't like it. There's not as hard as a commitment as TV shows since you can listen to it anywhere.

Another suggestion:

Within the Wires. It's a beautiful series of instructional cassette tapes made in an alternate universe 1980s. Best listened to alone. There are no laughs here, or indeed any points of interest that are easily shared. But alone... it's staggeringly beautiful imo.

Man, the Q&A for TMA is blowing my mind. Not only is the writer a talented voice actor but his parents are too. Gertrude and Lietner are both voiced by them. We got really lucky with this podcast, because it sounds like they cant pay voice actors right now. Which means it was pure luck that their frienss not only wanted to help for free, but were also talented voice actors

Also, ill give a solid recommendation for Conversations From the Abyss. A collection of really short stories(less than 15 an episode) that dont overstay their welcome. Plus they cover some interesting ideas.

Hahah my favorite thing about Doyle is how they always call him out for being full of shit, but we the listeners know he's probably not actually full of shit. It's that old boy who cried wolf (while high on god knows what) situation. Love it.

Just finished Tribulation, enjoyed the season finale hope that it keeps up the momentum. It seems like the second season for a lot of podcasts are the drop off point, at least for me I've lost interest in Archive 81, Darkest Night, The Black Tapes, Tanis after the first season.

I really liked how different S2 of Archive 81 was. It felt like a new show, but the same setting. Well, sort of the same. This is in stark contrast to Black Tapes and Tanis which kinda just feel like they didn't know how to stop.

Of course Archive 81 being so different also leads to a different sort of drop-off.

True, I personally just didnt like the new direction but Archice 81 still had solid voice acting and a good pace to the story, whereas the PNWS shows feel like cartoon network reruns of DBZ... There's like 3 mins that actually advance the story.

Darkest Night dropped the ball so hard by ruining what it made it interesting
seriously? drug trips as an explanation? why even bother having them being the main focus of the episode if they're literally imaginary

I loved the second season of Archive 81. I didn't think a podcast had the balls to go that abstract with its concepts.

Tanis could have been a really solid 2 season series, but artificial padding ruined the promise S1 had.

Eyyyyyy, speaking of podcasts coming back...Pleasure Town is getting a 4th season early next year!
