I'm not really sure, honestly!! Ultros isn't as highly populated of a server as it used to be!Is that where most ofGAFResetEra community plays? I would love to play with everyone!
You have no idea how much it was change from playing the PSone version (this is the version where I fully played FFVI for the first time) compared to the SNES version (which I never played). The differences are night and day.
Yeah Ultros is the main server people play on. It's decently populated though Gilgamesh is a larger server with more hardcore raiding groups but if that's not your thing Ultros is great. Is that where most ofGAFResetEra community plays? I would love to play with everyone!
FF8s music is so good. It's transporting the.. it's the one soundtrack I find myself repeating over and over again. Fisherman's Horizon has lulled me to sleep so many times LOLThanks for saying I'm great. <3lol
Anyway I like FFVIII's music, probably one of the top-tier FF music. I also like the world and feel.
I just hate the junction system.
Ugh YYESSSSS at that Distant World's version. So good :'). My heart. <3Yeah, I mean the Junction system isn't the best skill development for sure.
Ok, so I'll check out ULTROS server (not you, Ultros! lol) It's just it's been a while since I played so kind of apprehensive to get back into it with so many new things. I just gotta do it!
Speaking of FF8 music

Absolutely!! That's really what I enjoyed the most about mmorpgs, having an adventure with people :)Ugh YYESSSSS at that Distant World's version. So good :'). My heart. <3
If you choose to join Ultros, let Wazzy and I know! I'm sure we could run some things together or something!!

The artbook reminded me that they're finally releasing the Ultimania's in english. I'm super eager for volume 2 since it will have VII and VIII.
The l'cie are many and Lightning is practically the face of Final Fantasy. Let the haters Cie'th.
Now that XII deservedly got a million sales, we can now get to that XIII Remaster and appreciate the trilogy once again.
It's a question about about FFXII Zodiac Age, which doesn't seem to have its own OT anymore.I believe it's a challenge to clear all offline mainline titles in a single year. I did it in 2007 for the 20th. Just 2 more games this time.
Yeah. Any question about any game in the series is appropriate to post here, though if it's a XI (Is there an XI OT open yet?), XIV, or XV question you may be better off in their specific OTs. I have a pretty decent knowledge of the mechanics in all the games, and extensive knowledge of all the stories and lore down to the smallest spinoff. I'd be happy to answer questions.

That challenge sounds fun, when did the year start or how much time is left?
Is there a list of definitive versions for each of the titles out there?
I see, thanks a lot. I should have access to almost all of these. Are spin off titles (FFTs, *-2s, Crisis Cores, etc) usually ignored for this?Haven't played Zodiac Age yet. Planning on starting it before the end of the year though. If it's about which jobs to use, there's a few good threads on gamefaqs about it.

I've been looking at this one.
It's not really an official challenge or anything. Just marathoning the games for the fun of it. FFI released on Dec 18, 1987 though, so maybe start there and try to finish before the series turns 31.
Definitive versions
FFI - PSP
FFII - PSP
FFIII - NES or DS, they're quite different. The NES version has aged quite well and has larger enemy encounters, but the DS version has some pretty convenient modern niceties and the story is fleshed out quite a bit.
FFIV - PSP or DS. The DS version is more difficult and has some extra story (all of which is also covered in The After Years). The PSP version has the classic feel. Both have completely different extra content.
FFV - GBA. The audio is worse than the SNES version but if you're emulating there's a patch for that. It has bug fixes and extra dungeons.
FFVI - GBA. Same as FFV. The Steam/Mobile versions of these are abominations graphically. If you don't mind that they play well.
FFVII - PS4/Steam. There's same audio issues that have all been fixed with mods I think. Not sure if they're still in the PS4 version.
FFVIII - PC (It'll probably get a remaster like VII and IX)
FFIX - PS4/Steam. Has a few minor audio and texture issues, but the better models are a huge plus. Only has 8 directional movement instead of full analogue like the original which is a big minus. PSX version might be preferable depending on what you value.
FFX - Steam. PS4 version is also great but it doesn't have turbo speed for some reason, so the Steam version is just better.
FFXI - PC
FFXII - PS4
FFXIII - PS3
FFXIV - PS4 or PC if it can run it better than a PS4.
FFXV - PS4
By the way for all the VIII fans in here, an event for Brave Exvius was announced a few days ago debuting Squall, Rinoa and Zell as playable characters. It's Japan only but it's exciting knowing they'll finally have VIII characters!
I almost hit that point but wanted to be prepared for a future VIII event if it ever happened. Now that it has I'm hoarding like crazy lolFinally! I dropped BE after a while mainly because the reason I got it was to play as VIII characters, so I was perry disappointed that they weren't even in the game. Shame it won't come over here for a while though.
I can't believe the FF8 suite from Final Symphony II was out for a year before I realised it existed.

So I bought the FFIX remaster on PS4 but I remember Zidane being a lot smoother to control on PS1. You could run in a nice circle with the DualShock stick but in the remaster it just feels like they mapped Up, Down, Left and Right to the stick. Apart from that though I'm still enjoying it, my favorite FF game yet.
Indeed, I think the licensing board has been enhanced. I still need to read more into it before playing it so I'm not totally lost. I never actually completely beat XII back in the day.
Cool! :) I hope you end up enjoying it!! Thank you so much! :)
She's pretty great! Wazzy and I have been friends since the beginning of high school <3.
Samimista Since the late 90s. I vividly remember getting my first FF, which was VII, as I had just had my adenoids taken out. I remember lying in a hospital bed and my dad coming into the area I was in with a copy of FF VII. At the time I had no idea what FF was, FF7 was heavily advertised at the time so that what made him choose it. I guess it was fate that brought FF into my life lol.
Starting Legend 8
asdfasdfd I forgot how sassy Squall is
And I just remembered Zell's hot dog obsession
Did we get an exact number on how long updates will keep coming for FFXV? I'd like to know when I can finally replay it with final content!
Yup. They removed analogue movement from the mobile version. It's just 8 direction digital movement now, The Steam/PS4 version is just an effortless port of that. I got used to it, but it really is just inexcusable of SE to be so lazy that they couldn't even include smooth movement and non jumbo sized mobile UI that were already in the original.
Zell and Hot Dogs for life yyaaasss <3! I actually cosplayed as Zell (Wazzy was Squall) just a couple months ago, and I took a couple hot dog pictures lmao! Zell is my favourite VIII character :)Thanks, and anytime. :)
Wow! It's good for being friends with someone that long.
You should play more XII when you can. I feel like the story falls apart halfway through, but the gameplay mechanics and the voice acting is superb.
Zell and Hot Dogs for life. <3
You have my absolute 150% support. Absolutely. Yyyeeesssss. At least for me, anyway. So we can all agree the best vocal track in the series is "Eyes on Me", right?

What makes the PSP versions of FFI and II better than the PSX version (Origins)?
Also, how are the PC versions of FFIII and IV?
Also, FFV on SNES Classic with the GBA translation patch should be considered the new definitive version, imo.
Hello, just a ff noob passing by :p, Its been a very long time since i've played a FF and i've just beat the Anima in FF13, i really like the game, it's still early but i'm having fun and i can't wait to get back in.
Some reviews made me think it wasnt that good, i'm glad i tried anyway. I was also suprised by how good it looks since it's a few years old, oh and the cinematics are great!
Oh ok, i can deal with a not so great story if everything else is good, and for the small part of the story that i've seen it's not that bad, or maybe i was too distracted by the pretty cutscenes ^^Yeah. I actually though the gameplay was quite good. The graphics and music is also universally praised. The cutscene direction is also pretty great. The reason a lot of people don't like it is because of the story itself though. It doesn't have very strong characters and the plot is very weak compared to the rest of the series before it. I actually really enjoyed it when I first played it, but then, over time, as I thought about the story presentation I kind of bittered to it.

Melodies of Life -- Just the way they incorporated the song at the end, to uniting Garnet and Zidane, really pulled the heartstrings for me.So we can all agree the best vocal track in the series is "Eyes on Me", right?
