Yo wtf is that "not sexy enough" bit? How is that even remotely possible? How does it work? Does she need to be naked?

This redesign is amazing. She looks ace and she looks sexy. End of story. Not enough for some? Too bad.

I could do without the zettai whatever, but her boobs aren't comically oversized anymore, she actually has some support up there now and isn't wearing a standard miniskirt to do martial arts. Pleasantly surprised.

I’m happy with this design.

Tbh, it doesn’t seem like they reduced Tifa’s breasts. It looks more like they just put a sports bra on her so they wouldn’t be so noticeable.

Her tits are still huge.
I agree about the sports bra. That's what I think also. And it makes it easier to fight with that on.
OT: I do hope we get Tifa's Advent Children outfit as an alternate.

I feel, at least in my case, that if people want to see more muscle toned Tifa is because SE games and specifically Nomura designed ones are filled with this skinny model female body type and would like to see some more distinct and different female body type, just like we have on men.

Cassandra for AC was so well received because she wasn't accommodated to the ideal model female type and was presented as a hardened warriorzwhich made sense for the character.

Tifa is a martial artist warrior, a very strong one, yet she has the body of a model. She is supposedly trained for years, it would made sense to have more muscle definition.

But yeah, but all means put us in the same camp of "I want watermelons titties with bouncing" group.
she punches haunted houses that have legs.

this game features a tattoooed one eyed mountain lion and a stuffed giant moogle with a toy cat riding it. their weapon is a plastic megaphone.

hand-wringing that tifa's body type doesn't match whatever strange "realistic" ideal fans have cooked up is clown shoes.

It's not about realism, it's about representing females with more than one body type. And in the case of Tifa it wouldn't be a simple tick on a spreadsheet about conforming to people tastes, it would make sense for the character, as much barret being a bunch of muscles makes sense for him.

Tifa was going to be a supermodel either way. A few centimeters of diameter on her limbs and more muscle tone just makes her a muscular supermodel and scarcely feels like the type of body diversity for women that is actually lacking in video games in 2019.

I never said she didn't train. She did fitness instruction for the Israeli army, she was in shape before. But she looked nothing close to the comics.
The point is that she looks way more fit than Tifa in this game.

It would be a step forward, specially on a FF/SE game.

I love that they gave her a practical top. Like it's almost a sports bra, and it's not styled like a boob sock. Girl can actually realistically fight in this.
Yesssssss

For the people complaining about Tifa being too skinny. Martial artists aren't always UFC fighters or bowflexed roided movie stars.
????

This dude is massively ripped. Like, extremely ripped.

I am confused

And my point is that both renditions made concessions for beauty over "realisim". I personally have no problem with the idea of her having more muscle tone or bulk, I'm a big fan of Linda Hamilton in T2. It's just Tifa comes from a Japanese aesthetic where such things are pretty uncommon in the portrayal of men or the women.

Bruce Lee was lithe and had very low body fat but he didn't have huge muscles. Yes he has a lot of definition but his arms aren't that big and he doesn't have the typical bench press chest you see nowadays. Tifa doesn't need to look like Ronda Rousey to be a martial artist. Yeah they could add some more definition in her arms for sure but people were acting like her body type is unbelievable for a martial artist.

Didn't see anyone insisting that Tifa be super buff. All I see are posts wishing she had more definition, because other than her abs, she has very little. Your counter-example of Bruce Lee is frankly comical.

I wonder if they bitched about how thin Gal Gadot was for her WW portrayal.
I wonder if they bitched about Reboot Lara Croft.

After Mai Shiranui, I always personally considered Lara Croft to be primarily marketed as "Tits with a Woman Attached".

I was legitimately surprised when she got her makeover, and it always made me hopeful Tifa would get a similar treatment (despite not being even remotely pandered to Lara's levels....she had jiggle in the GBC game. Jiggle in Gameboy Color!)

Not sure how that justifies anything.

(Also plenty of bulky/well defined men on japanese videogames/anime/manga)

Costume design wise, I like pretty much everything except the lack of red gloves.

Facial design wise, she's a bit too obviously Asian-looking. Same with Cloud. Not to the degree of AC, but it's especially weird when Cloud looked less Asian in the original trailers. Not a dealbreaker or anything, just noting.

I think she's too thin, and she should be a bit more obviously busty. Big boobs aren't "unrealistic", and it's pretty exclusionary to say someone busty can't be a fighter. Still, I've seen sports bras do some crazy things, so I can choose to headcanon that that's what's going on with her. But the twig arms and legs are definitely the bigger oddity. She doesn't need to be ripped, I see plenty of women at the gym that maintain so called "womanly" figures while still clearly having some muscle on them.

This is probably going to go down as the ultimate example of a fanbase misinterpreting a character through years of hentai and Rule 34.

It'll be a TV Trope soon.

Why should she be more obviously busty? She's pretty big there already.

Because she's been obviously well above average in the bust department since her inception? I'm not saying she's been made flat, but she looks smaller IMO than she has in Dissidia and other games. Big boobed girls need representation too, especially representation by actually well developed characters and not just trash like Dead or Alive

It's safe to say these guys are a very small minority. They're nothing next to the millions of fans of FFVII.
I dunno, I've been reading this kind of talk for....many many years.

It would be sobering to think that it's a case of "weakest dogs bark loudest", along with some of the other horrible shit that gets spewed out in social media.

The only thing I would be down for is if Square makes some slight adjustments for muscle tone. If there's a merciful God they won't listen at all to the "make them bigger!" outcries.

Though I bet Toriyama would listen if he was in charge.

Wow, she has big breasts. Gotta really wonder if you are a guy with warped idea of what big is. Also, as a woman with big breasts, i feel well represented with Tifa.

Fantastic job, Tifa looks absolutely perfect!
Props to the artists, seriously. They've nailed the look of every character so far, tweaked them juuuuuust the right amount.

I can understand not liking a character design/redesign. Fair enough, I personally don't agree with a lot of the outrage for various redesigns over the years but everyone is different. I can see stuff like the socks being somewhat of a fair point for example.. But not liking a character design/redesign purely because they don't conform to your sexual fantasies? That's just strange.

And I'm not into that whole "political" side of video games or whatever, but regardless I've never understood people that have a fetish for video game characters. I mean it doesn't even make sense from the "political" standpoint that these people have, surely if you're a "conservative"/"traditionalist", wouldn't thirsting for video game character be "degenerate"???

Wasn't sure if I preferred the Advent Children design or this remake one. Watched AC again today, and yeah, I prefer her AC design. Maybe take the gauntlets and the red shows from the remake Tifa and add them to AC Tifa and she'd look even more dope.

Idc what others’ say, her outfit makes total sense considering her fighting style. Tights and sports bra.

She’s practical and faithfully adapted. Couldn’t have asked for better.

lol, this. By any real-life standard this version of Tifa is a large-breasted woman. Honestly, any bigger and it would border on the absurd.

My girlfriend of four years certainly didn't enjoy statements like that. Plenty of women are far larger than Tifa and it's kind of shitty to call their proportions absurd.

Again, I'm not saying she's small, I just think she could've been a tad bigger. But whatever. Barett has a far more unrealistic body type that even fewer men will ever have, but I haven't seen much decrying of him.
