Completely rebuilt using the best of modern gaming technology, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is a reimagining of the iconic original game that re-defined the RPG genre. For comparison, FFXV shipped 5M in the same time window, though that one had some stock left I believe. This one, on the other hand, is facing shortages in a lot of places. Strong performance for an exclusive for sure!

Considering that the physical sell through ratio is insanely high this time (much less physical copies were shipped than expected because of covid), this means that the game is basically tied with Spiderman for the fastest selling PS4 exclusive title, this is extremely high.

For comparisons with Sony's biggest first-party exclusives first 3 days sales. ( granted, sell-out vs sell-in, so there's a degree of adjustment)

God of War: 3.1 mil in 3 days
Spider-Man: 3.3 mil in 3 days

Wonder if it can become the best selling FF considering PC/XBO ports in the future.
SE better bring future parts asap to not have a huge drop-off in sales and also capitalize on some FF goodwill and bring out XVI.

Also, FFXV shipped 5 millions on day one iirc.

Amazing job. With probably much higher digital share square got paid. Maybe Sony should just go for the part 2 exclusivity...

Fantastic result. Being down from FFXV is natural considering there's one less platform. And this project will get longterm revenue with the subsequent parts that will be developed on a lower budget (since the tech/parts of the game design are already here).

nice. the game didn't live up to the hype for me but glad to see great sales, it's certainly a step in the right direction for the series

Holy shit... 3.5m in 3 days with the current global crisis is insane.

That has to be some sort of record for JRPGs, surely?

edit: Oh wait, just saw the "shipped" part... that's a tad more ambiguous, but still impressive going all the same.
