I want you to be able to resurrect Aerith as many times as you want, but whenever you exit the room that you get her back in, Sephy just immediately kills her.

How about being able to travel back in time to safe her only to See that she will die eventually. And the only time she didn't die, Tifa died instead.

some apparent big "leaks" in the FF7 reddit. Take it with a huge grain of skepticism obviously but putting it out here for people who might be interested

"From El Segundo SE branch.

This will not have ALL the information as this is a publishing /localization branch and as the Shibuya Division 1 will have the most info, but will share what there is. This is for PART 1 in no particular order.

-Game is in fact 2 parts. Part 1 ends exactly as Aerith is let down into the water after her death and a fade to black.

-Materia is shown in ALMOST all weapons. They do not appear in accessories nor do accessories appear on your character model. Different weapons will however appear on your model for example Rune Blade will be on Cloud's back if equipped and exploring.

-Different weapons have different triangle heavy hits (does not cost an ATB charge) Buster Sword has Punisher Rune Blade for for example has Cleave. You use these heavy hits after a string of regular hits. Regular hits are chip damage and the main damage will be from heavy combo finishers and the of course the massive LIMIT BREAKs.

-Using Magic will consume ATB along with MP. You get more bars as the game progresses.

-Summons will work for the most part as cut scenes like the original, they do not fight with you on the field. There is 1 new Summon Amarok and appears to be a wolf and causes darkness in addition to damage.

-Over-world map is almost seamless. There are some "zones." There will be roads and methods of transportation. It is open world. Vehicles like the Tiny Bronco work almost exactly the same only being able to go in lighter water. There will be items available occasionally on the field. Chocobos will of course be obtainable after the farm.

-They have really made an effort to make each town feel lived in, and feel like there is a reason why each place is like the way it is. Each town is very unique from the last. Cosmo Canyon iand its occasional dust storms are a stark contract to the streets of Midgar. Upper Junon feels very much more like a military installation than Midgar as well.

-Sephiroth is very limited in what is shown of him until the Kalm flashback. Before this you only hear his voice or see glimpses of him during Clouds breakdowns.

-The HP shown during the state of play is not indicative of what their HP should/would be normally during those times. Simply for Dev showcasing.

-There will be demos on the game floor with PSN demo following shortly after for people at home directly after E3.(Playstation Plus required)

-Monster redesigns for a lot of the enemies but most will remain recognizable. Some do not make an appearance. For example there was no ghost enemies in the train yard.

-Shin-ra HQ wont have quite as many floors to explore but MORE to do on the floors you do go to so it still feels like your fighting through a lot to get to the top.

-The design for Tifa is also true to the original outfit, her face appears to be mostly similar to her Advent Children design but slightly more western. Materia also shows up on her gloves.

-Cait Sith seems to be pronounced "Ket" Sith but has undergone no major design overhaul. His fighting style is more close up, and does have his BARS for a LIMIT BREAK.

-Golden Saucer will have some games that are not playable(yet) because they are essentially replaying a part of a later story mission. Some will be playable right when you arrive. They want it to feel more grand and provide a break from the main story beats while still eventually having to incorporate the story into it later.

-Red XIII has clones Cobalt XIV and Indigo XV you must fight before he joins your party in Shin-ra HQ

-Cid does not appear to be smoking but you see evidence that he does. He is clearly upset with Shera but toned down the aggressiveness as they felt it was unnecessary.

-Yuffie and Vincent are no longer optional. You can miss them up until a certain point where they then become mandatory to get. You automatically get Yuffie if you have not gotten her before Rocket Town for example.

-Cloud will have a dress and wig in one particular scene. But its fade to black getting in/out of it.

-Honey Bee in requires GIL to get into instead of a membership card.

-Squatting mini-game returns.

-As these are FULL games each will be in fact priced at 59.99 USD

-Signals have gone out to retailers to prepare for pre-orders."

If even half of this is true I'm going to be so happy.....I'm so happy right now.

I don't think it would be unreasonable to expect some sort of extensive gameplay demo at the SE conference, demonstrating some of the unique mechanics of the Remake's combat and whatnot. In addition to an extensive cut of the teaser we got at State of Play, as well new key art visuals and character renders to get a closer look at the artistic changes.

Also I would love to see recreations of these CG illustrations for FF VII Remake. That would be pretty neat.

Man the Aerith one with Highwind. She never gets to experience it. I remember when you first get it and the first thought I had was her random piece of dialogue on the ship of wanting to fly in it.

What's with this being the director of FFXVI nonsense? Everytime I see your username pop up, I see this.

You think they're going to keep Aerith alive? I doubt it.

The FFXVI director is a thing from wayyyy back on NeoGaf. I was in a FFXV hype thread and somebody asked what should FFXVI be like. I made a post and alotta people liked it and joked that I should be the director of FFXVI.

And yeah. Aerith isnt dying. And if she does die... some anime shenanigans will happen to bring her back.

This has probably been posted but I ran across this video analyzing the combat based on the trailer.

I haven't played a Kingdom Hearts game in ten years, but this seems like it'll be less button mashy than I remember those being.

Watching the gameplay from this video kinda makes me think of like a free-er FFXIII? Don't know how much that makes sense, but this is definitely it's own thing.

Man they just need to fix that dash animation. Make it a real run and not a dumb slide and it'll be dope.

So real shit—I still feel strongly that the victory fanfare should still happen after each battle and the original is SO PERFECT and still the best victory fanfare of the series to this day. I don't think it should be changed or remixed at all—the only song that is so dope it should not be remixed. Play the original 1997 fanfare after each battle—its still amazing to this day.

My dream scenario would be a more action oriented FFXII. I'd be perfectly happy with large, interconnected zones instead of an open world. Take away the auto-battle for your currently controlled character but have a "gambit" system using materia for the AI characters (would switch off automatically when you switch control of characters).

Well it's good that those kind of videos are helping people understand it's not FFXV clone combat system...

Hopefully they go in-depth with combat at E3.

It's probably going to be a super-compressed ditty, akin to a sound effect that evokes the victory theme.

Except for that one time they actually play the entire thing, retro style.

Yea I know right? It's somewhat sad. I hope that they found ways to tasteful capture little moments in the remake.
I remember looking at that particular key art on my game case and on my very first ever playthrough and anticipating this moment to happen...but it never comes haha

I think we should all make bets against Aerith surviving or being resurrectable in the remake. This has got to be one of the top 10 surest bets in the history of gambling. Besides, we all know they're not letting Mediking out of his cave to look at what Nomura's doing until he's done making a 'realtime' trailer for FFXVI.

We really should all make bets though haha

...
Hopefully FFXVI really does have a older female lead though. Like in her mid 30's or something

Pretty sure Nomura will change something regarding Aerith's death stuff to throw us off. Not the death itself, but the timing or the way it's done.

Has this been rumored, or did I mistake your gender based on your username (I suppose I shouldn't be asking either way)? Have there been any Square-Enix games with woman leads recently? Am I really just asking these questions to avoid bringing up this sherbet I was going to make?

I really do hope they start doing things differently with the next Final Fantasy. I think this is a great opportunity to reinvent the franchise and perhaps move away from the visual kei aspect that has been prevalent for the last generation. Just like FFVII marked a major turning point, I would like to see us enter a new era of Final Fantasy. It could also prevent the project from looking like it's competing directly with VII's remake.

Only thing I can really see changing about Aerith's last scene is how Sephiroth appears. It might be more sudden.

Yeah taking those 'leaks' with a giant grain of salt but if it was true, it'd be awesome.

That said, I assumed the Seph scene was the Kalm flashback and I assumed that was near the end of Part 1 (so instead of ending after Midgard, end after the Kalm flashback scene or at the very latest, leaving Junion)

We'l find out in a few weeks anyway.

It's in that area with the big metal hand where you fight the hell houses.

LordofPwn if they had an enormous exclusive like ff7 remake dont you think Sony would have mentioned it during yhr state of play or at any point since?

That deal was announced 4 years ago, thats alot of time for SE to rethink that deal.

I wonder about that. For example when a 3rd party multiplatform game is announced during Nintendo Direct or something like E3 conferences just right after companies confirm other platforms with a PR. For example SE did it themselves recently for DQ Builders 2 which was announced for the West in a direct and that game is being published by Nintendo on the Switch and by SE on PS4 which they announced via Twitter.

The updated offical site of the Remake only has PS4. Nobody in the industry at the moment is holding something like game launching on other platforms as a secret - when game is announced/shown you know all the platforms like in an hour from the announcement.

But hey it's Square fucking Enix that flip flop like no other comapny in the industry with exclusive QOL changes and now even fix patches so they very well may be holding Xbox/PC versions for E3 for some reason and if not later down the line they will make a better version of the game for other platforms and refuse to patch the original.

Watch it be at Xbox E3 conference with a timed exclusive. Seems a good way to piss people off

lol people here are delusional if they think Aerith survives, it's a key plot point for FF7 and one of its 2 most iconic moments.

It's like you're betting on Sephiroth having a change of heart and taking up decorative gardening in Nibelheim instead of burning it.

I suppose they could explore the possibility a little after she's gone. Like as a secret NPC in Cloud's subconscious. Maybe a part of him is stuck thinking about finding magic to bring her back, but there's an implication that a stupendous disaster would befall the planet if he did. And that section of his mind just can't deal with it, and it keeps madly rewinding the apocalypse to save "Aerith."

It'd be pretty scary if done right. Tifa would have to run away from that version of Cloud, knowing there's nothing she can do.
