Full disclosure: I have played none of the games listed here. I'm listing them and making this thread because I understand all of them are highly-acclaimed games (I don't know as much about M&M7), and almost all of them are among the most highly-acclaimed games in their respective series. The seventh entries in FF, DQ, and M&M also all came out in the late 90's where as the seventh entries in Ultima and Wizardry came out in 1992. So maybe this is kind of a contest between the best of each classic RPG franchise. Based on what I know: Final Fantasy VII basically popularized RPGs to a whole new audience and sort of introduced the cinematic high-budget RPG. Dragon Quest VII was the first PlayStation DQ and came out around the same time as FFVII. Ultima VII today is still known for its complex NPC AI system that I'm told rivals that of games like Skyrim and goes beyond most RPGs made since. Wizardry VII is supposedly the last "classic-style" Wizardry. I think that one game everyone says is "Cleve's game" was supposed to be a spiritual successor to W7, but I might be mixing it up with something else. I think Might & Magic VII is one of the most popular M&M games.
