Hit enrage on E4S, now time to pray for a group that can clear, aside from first phase, rest of the mechanics are simple, though healing can be tight.

is there something wrong with the square website? i tried to recover my password hours ago and i still haven't received an email

I've never had to go through their support, but it may take until Monday to hear back from them. I think they actually have people that handle stuff like that, instead of being automated. For a company with three active MMOs, they're really behind in the support department.

Na password retrieval is obviously automated that'd be so weird. I just checked and got mine instantly. Probably spam folder, or just bugged out and didn't send.

I have spent inordinate amounts of time doing nothing but playing virtual dollhouse and I regret nothing. It's like getting sidetracked by the cabaret club in Yakuza 0 all over again.

any controller pc players here that had/have the controller unresponsiveness problem?
Yea, I have a PS4 controller, and sometimes it becomes unresponsive. Causes me to walk into mechanics, or in a direction for a few seconds.
I had that problem with a DS4 I was using wired and with an X1 controller I bought just because of the DS4 problems.
Usually the problem is the USB connection - the micro usb ports on these controllers can get very finicky after a while.
I ended up buying a bluetooth receiver for my X1 controller and connection problems disappeared.

Wildfire visuals needs to be upgraded, skill feels very underwhelming. I can barely tell when it goes off.

Needs a bigger explosion, an effect like Flare for BLM would be nice.

Last I checked, which admittedly was a few years ago when last it happened to me, the game also just flat out had bad controller code and any time the list of devices attached to your system changed, it would reconnect to all controllers wired and not. So basically--device connects, game kills communication with the controller and renegotiates, and for a few seconds its 'stuck' on whatever input it was receiving when it killed connections.

So unrelated USB devices connecting and disconnecting could interfere with your controller, and in my case it was media servers connecting and disconnecting. A computer with PlayOn waking up out of sleep in one room would break the controller in XIV (and only XIV) for a few seconds in another; IIRC I had the same issue with a computer detecting an Amazon Fire stick at one point. Shutting down the media servers would fix it for me.

If this is the situation that's happening to you, the controller cut-off will line up exactly with a visual refresh on Device Manager. How hard/easy this is to catch will depend on the frequency of the disconnects.

I had a lot of problems with a Dual Shock 4 a while back. The analog stick would randomly drop out every minute or so. It was really annoying and killed me more than once. I finally bought a Xbox One controller and haven't had that problem anymore.

Just wondering does Tree/Stone Whisperer V trait for MIN/BOT effect the ARR nodes at all or is it just HW and later nodes?

Just a reminder that Moonfire Faire ends tomorrow morning at 7:59 PDT. Go get your rewards before it's too late, if you haven't yet.

I'm 80, mostly eden gear, will doing 70 raids like deltascape which I've never done before be easier even though we're level capped @ 70 just b/c stats are as high as they can possibly be?

There was a QA from Gamescom that helped clarify some Shadowbringers plot points.

Major spoilers in there.

I'm a bit surprised on the answer for Question 4

They say all the souls on the source reap the "benefits" of the rejoining by becoming bigger and stronger, but folks on the source don't really seem that much stronger or more intelligent than people on the First who have presumably been unaffected by the rejoinings (at least from what I understand from how the game explains rejoinings affecting the Source). Maybe there is a strength difference that made the Scions more effective on the First, but seems at the very least the people on the First should be significantly less intelligent as they have 1/7 the soul of the average individual on the source (especially with Emet Selch explaining splitting a soul in 2 also halves the intelligence) but didn't really get a sense of that in the MSQ.

I know before this explanation some people were speculating the rejoinings were mostly affecting the soul of the WoL and perhaps those with the Echo, which seemed to make more sense (in terms of the apparent similarities of those on the First and Source) even though the precise reason why it would only affect them remained unclear.

I'm just chalking it up to video game logic. The enemies/allies couldn't be ridiculously weaker than us. Though the only issue it caused in my opinion was Ranjit, who felt way too strong for no reason.

I feel like the Echo is something else unrelated to the Rejoining, considering it can be artificially replicated.

Yeah that's probably what it is. Looking back at it, the concept of a soul is somewhat nebulous (what defines a soul to begin with?) , so saying the source with rejoined souls are 'bigger and stronger' certainly can be valid as it's difficult to objectively quantify. The Scions coming in and helping solve the problems on the First could certainly be evidence of the difference is 'soul strength' between the Source and the First.

I think the thing that trips me up more is Emet-Selch explaining the reduction of intelligence which each 'soul split', when there really isn't much evidence of Source people being more intelligent than those on the First (especially after 7 rejoinings). From a story perspective, it of course doesn't make sense to make people on the First 'dumb as bricks' for the sake of lore consistency, but I found it curious to see them explicitly mention intelligence. I suppose there's also a question of how much the issue of 'unreliable narrator' is coming into play as well. I don't think Emet-Selch is intentionally lying here, but it's also clear he treats Ascian intellect as being superior to all else (and things like Creation magic and the sheer scale of making a city like Amaurot certainly help to illustrate that point), but it's possible the splitting and rejoining of souls may not be as concrete and explicit as the explanation he gives the Scions. I don't know how much more the story itself will expand on this in the future, but just fun food for thought I suppose.

Anyways, that's probably enough rambling from me for today.

How is this game a mainline FF O_O

Rape, Human trafficking, prostitution... I never thought I'd see something like that in a mainline Final Fantasy.

Reached level 47 with DRK, so close to 50 and then way more dailies open. Also finally really experience Palace of the Dead. It's okay and a bit annoying. Had a run ruined on a 9th floor cause a room had 2 monster lures right next to each other and it sucks you get nothing for that. The floor 50 boss was neat.

The DRK quests are really good.

I have insane time coming up with outfits.

If they ever make a legit long jacket type thing with no armor or crazy guilded stuff on it like the new fireglass stuff. I might loose days

Nice, that looks awesome! Whenever I see such well decorated houses shown off it makes me really tempted to buy my own, but I'm always too poor in this game. As soon as I get a decent amount of gil I end up spending up on glamour on the MB. Maybe one of these days I'll take up crafting/gathering in earnest to make some gil lol.

I know I've seen a couple of nice looking tank-compatible jackets, but I'll assume you've long since gone over all of them.

Thanks! Houses are basically just glamour you can't wear, if that helps you focus any. ;p

If you really want to jump down the housing gil black hole, you can actually do quite a bit with an apartment.
Probably better to start there anyway, given that you don't need to furnish an entire goshdarn house.

People fighting among each other about low DPS while they can't do mechanics is hilarious.

Obviously, the issue is that everyone else isn't hitting high enough to carry me.

If it helps ease the temptation, I just sat in front of an open house plot spamming a sign for 12 hours and ended up losing it to someone else.

I may have legit gone through everything. I don't want my GNB (and DRK for that matter) running around in full suits of armor. I prefer the jacket look so I have gone through... a lot. What I want is a cool, modern-ish looking long coat, and my option for that is...snows coat. And while I own that, its one of those things that so identifiable with another character that it doesn't work for what I want. I am using his pants right now though. The fireglass thing is damn near perfect , if only it was longer.

There is ... one coat though. Unfortunately its crafter/gatherer only. So I cry. Though there is hope, they might make non gatherer/crafter versions. But untill then I cry

I've been playing through Heavensward and have been enjoying the story, but I just reached a point in the MSQ where I need to do the Aetherochemical research facility and I've hit a roadblock because it's saying my item level is too low. First time It's happened to me and I'm pretty annoyed, I just want to progress through the story :/

So far I've been able to do just the MSQ and haven't had any problems, until now. Is this going to become a common occurrence from now on? If I have to grind for gear to be able to progress though the story for the rest of the expansions I'm going to be bummed and might consider stopping.

currently at item level 135, I checked the market and gear is really expensive, I'd go broke in no time if I tried upgrading everything from there.

I believe if you do your class quest, specifically the level 60 one, you'll get good gear that will let you progress no problem. Once you beat the expansion, you can buy item level 260 gear at Idylshire so you can keep doing the post patch stuff as well.

I don't think there's one but in encounters starting in 3.1 and beyond they have become standardized. Any group in mechanics will be indicated by a circle with four arrows pointing in.

Its once of those things you'll have to see once and then hopefully you'll just know.

A blue AOE indicator is probably a knockback originating from the blue aoe with the inside of it being insta death (Sephirot Arena Punch, Titan Maximus Arena Punch)

Do we have any news about housing on the new servers? I got my 3.something mil so I'm all ready for this.

Related, for those who played a while already: how much stressing out am I looking at, when I really really would like to get a house once they're available? Which plots usually are the first to get sniped? (Probably Shirogane if that makes a difference)? Me and a friend already scooped out a nice neighboring situation but I have no idea what to expect.

Larges are the first to get sniped all across.

But in terms of houses that'll fucking Vanish?

Larges

Mediums in a remotely viable spot.

Smalls that are near features (Beaches, Hot Springs, etc...)

The goblet is usually the last to go.

If you are already level 60, I'd just say spend the Gil. I used around half my Gil to upgrade about each time I reached level cap from a previous expansion. I wasn't using it for anything else to be honest.

If you have time in your day please run MSQ roulette for the 500 tomes and you'll be able to afford a lot of upgrades. Also Centurio Seals from hunts can help.

I just did the level 60 class quest and unfortunately there was no gear rewarded :(

Yeah, I guess that's the way to go, I also just discovered there are venders in ishgard that sell item level 255 gear cheaper than stuff I was finding on the Market Board, so I guess I'm just going to go ahead and buy a few pieces like that.

I still have some Allagan Tomestone of Poetics I got from doing the MSQ dungeons in ARR, they can also be used to purchase level 60 gear? I didn't know, I'll have to look into that.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
