Should be 5.1 and 5.3, they might shake things up this patch cycle though with the introduction of Ishgard restoration in 5.1.
Is this just a random guy in eulmore? What on earth lmao

Eesh, just let me unlock and then duty finder the last 2 level 80 dungeons in peace. I'm guessing this guy assumed I was going to try raiding with ilevel 406 gear or some crap.
Well we don't really know much about how it'll work nor what the rewards for it will be. It's very unlikely, but they could lock new gear behind it or make some of the seasonal rewards for it so OP that they last until 6.0. If there was anytime to shake up endgame crafting/gathering this cycle, now would be it with Ishgard. How would that impact crafting gear, or you think that might delay it?

Who the fuck is out here just randomly inspecting people's gear and looking at their materia

Not sure why you felt the need to buy gear off the MB though, the free ilvl 430 left side + weapon the MSQ provides you plus whatever accessories you have from MSQ dungeon drops should be enough to get you into the level 80 dungeons which drops ilvl 430 accessories
Not a big deal really. You can sell or convert your 406 gear or use it for glamI wasn't aware the MSQ gave a full set of gear until after I'd bought stuff. I was in upgraded storm blood tomestone gear all the way to 80 and hit cap quite a bit before even finishing the Eulmore MSQ :(
Lmao. I'm grateful that the only tells I get are glam compliments.
VIs are +40, VIIs are +20, VIIIs are +60
VIIs are primarily meant for overmelding
The reasoning is VI and VIII can't be overmelded, they're only for the normal sockets, while VII(and V in SB) can be overmelded in crafted gear. They didn't want to have people who stockpiled SB materias to have an advantage in melding new gear, so they added both a new max materia and a new overmeldable materia. But for dungeon gear and stuff since these can't be overmelded, it's either VI or VIII, and since VIII are expensive and you don't want to drop them in random gear, VIs are what you should use, they give more stats than VIIs and can be removed 100% of the time, so for example you can meld all your leveling gear and just remove and remeld stuff as you go(a lot less annoying if you're a crafter however, otherwise probably not worth the hassle). Thanks! I have some +60, a couple of +40 and more +20. I guess I just meld the +60 then +40 then the +20. I just assumed 60 were VIII, 40 were VII and 20 were VI. That's what made sense to me anyway.
"Liability" is a strong word, but if you are doing EX (and even thinking about Savage a little) you should definitely be melding. Even just using VI is better than nothing at all. They are dirt cheap, it takes a couple of seconds of effort, and it can have a large impact on your DPS/damage reduction/outgoing healing.Yeah I never meld because I just don't like melding materia to gear that I'll only have temporarily. I know I can just remove it but it's just like a pet peeve of mine. I wonder if I'm a liability because of it in Extreme trials.

Potions are an actual continuous cost, and are generally pretty expensive(haven't played since launch so might have gone down a bit) although you can grab basic ones for cheap at a vendor in crystarium iirc but overall I don't think anyone expect other people to pot in pub content unless you're wiping at 1-3% on a savage fight.I did the Titania and Innocence extreme with no real problem without melding but I did feel kinda dirty. I also don't use potions in my DPS rotation. I refuse to buy them. I'm scum. To be fair, I only do harder content as healer.
The only good thing about AST is a dead mode that no one plays, let's feel a little good about ourselves.Ugh, matches have been painful tonight. It's a bit annoying that AST are so far above other healers in the Feast that you feel like you are playing at a disadvantage if you have a WHM on the team... nevermind a SCH who pretty much guarantees a free win to the opposing side.

wow, random tells are so rare in this game. My last few randoms were someone asking about a barding in SB, some people complimenting my 3 minute Roe alt and....some personal FC msges and that's it. Shower me with hate, i'll take it.
Materia doesn't matter in this game because SE doesn't want you to tinker with builds or excel at anything. Stay low like a good peasant. 1% raiders will care about your melds and that's it.
PS4 licenses are linked to SE accounts when you boot up the game for the first time, it'll ask you to attach a SE account to your PSN account, attach the same SE account you're using it on PC. There's no registration code you put in MogStation.Thinking off buying the PS4 version and linking it to my SE account I use to play on PC. If I buy it (ffxiv complete edition) directly from PlayStation store will I get sent the registration code that I need to do that? Or would I be better off buying the digital PS4 version from amazon or something? I play on PC with a controller and while I don't intend to make PS4 my main platform sometimes it would be nice to just play it casually while hanging out in my living room.
I think it can only get better. All they need to do is make it stronger somehow.
Think I'm done this patch cycle. Looking forward to 5.1 24 man raiding. :) (And hopefully echo extreme primals lol)
Welcome to MMO terminology, people came up with the slang in the late 90s/early 00s (or earlier in many cases, a lot of general RPG terms dating back to the 70s/80s and shit like "proc" came from MUDs I think) and haven't changed it since

We'll see. i hope they show off the new Ninjutsu system in tomorrow's Live Letter.
There's a new ninjutsu system? Please no. I don't like change. They're gonna pull amp AST or some shit.
I despise the use of proc in MMO slangWelcome to MMO terminology, people came up with the slang in the late 90s/early 00s (or earlier in many cases, a lot of general RPG terms dating back to the 70s/80s and shit like "proc" came from MUDs I think) and haven't changed it since
I'm not gonna say I despise any piece of MMO slang outright, but as someone who hasn't been using these terms for a very long time like some people have (read: I did not know what "proc" meant a year ago, FFXIV is my first "big boy/girl/person" MMO outside of very briefly dabbling in GW2 a few years ago), I think a lot of them are really dumb
