Thunder Force II for the Sharp X68000 Japanese high-end computer (released in 1988 and 1987, respectively)

vs the Japanese Mega Drive / U.S. Genesis version in 1989

The X68000 version could more easily pass for an arcade game of the time (1988), with more colors, more parallax and better audio.
Not to even mention that 1 or 2 weapons and a number of entire levels were cut from the MD/Genesis version.

That's a dope home conversion on much cheaper hardware, all things considered. But, yes, a thing of beauty to see the original gameplay via direct-feed. Thanks for this link.

Wait, was there really no long play of this online until now? I swear I've watched one before.

The X68k version of this game is so good.

Having played the Genesis versions of Thunder Force II, Granada, and Sol-Feace/Deace back then and then later playing X68000 versions that are superior in some ways has been really cool.
