People are going to have more complex opinions about this than "Sad." Nothing they said was shitty.don't go into a thread about a developing story of 850 year old cathedrals burning with your shitty hot takes
It isn't that hard
NBC stream has a much better view, it's still huge and burning bright in the center of the building.
There is no way to fight a fire that is that intense, especially in an older building. You have to let it burn out and just try to keep it from spreading to adjacent buildings.
There will be time later to discuss what sort of profound negligence occurred that allowed the fire to start and then get to this point, but for now, we can only watch helplessly.
The Paris prosecutors office has opened an inquiry into this fire. I really hope it ends up being accidental, and not even caused by a human.
Water is heavy. You'd end up with a collapsed building that's on fire...Why not have water doping helicopters there doping water 24\7? There is water near by... or am I missing something?
Flat-earthers weren't a thing since Ancient GreeceWhen flat-earthers ruled the world and the sun revolved around the Earth.
It seems like the fire is slowly getting less ferocious
EDIT: Maybe not, just a different angle. Looks like the centre of the building is an absolute inferno :(
Didn't realise you posted on ResetEra, Mr. President. Why not have water doping helicopters there doping water 24\7? There is water near by... or am I missing something?
One of the artifacts being held in the spire was apparently a piece of the true cross.
You were right when you said you shouldn't have posted. Did Notre Dame steal your lunch money or something? History is literally burning to the ground and you're handwringing about the well-trained firefighters going in to try to salvage what they can of a near 900 year old piece of art?No one should go in to get those paintings. Lives matter so much more. It isn't worth the risk.

Yikes. I shouldn't have posted. I genuinely didn't realize how emotionally attached people were to this building.
Good point actually. Curious how they'll handle the fire going forward...Yeah drop a bunch of water on scorching hot stones in a now delicate structure that will help and not lead to an explosion at all.
Thankfully no reported casualities, it's worrying that people are now going in to try and save the artwork despite the fire still raging.
Presumably there are none but I could be wrong
The crown of thorns, a wooden piece of the cross, and a nail , they were in the arrow (spire) supposedly, so consider them lost. One of the artifacts being held in the spire was apparently a piece of the true cross.
