It's a celebration release like 3D Allstars. The FE series has it's 30th anniversary this year.

This port seems to have QoL features on top of localization. NSO are just rom dumps.
Sounds like it's due to the Nintendo vault as shown above, plus Nintendo knows people will buy it just to have this game.
I mean, it's only $6, so I'll grab it anyway, but this really should have been included in NSO with the option to purchase later.
Limited release is a bummer, but $6 for a localization and new features sort of offsets that for me.

Kinda goofy that this isn't just a NSO NES Classic release, but I suppose they did add some QoL features like turn rewinds and such, and it's only six bucks, so whatever I guess.
