For me this month was pure suffering, waiting for dragon quest builders 2 was also a pain :(.
I've never owned a Fire Emblem game other than the free mobile one and have only been mildly interested in them before for the most part, but the marketing made me really interested in this game, and these previews have almost completely sold me on this game.
It sounds more like they thought being on a console was the problem, not the game itself.
Also that really doesnt address the issue that I talked about low shipments and marketing
I think she could be very good if she's handled right. Characters like this with serious social hangups are good if you can get them out of their shell, less so if they just play it up endlessly.
Also, I'm definitely making her into an Armor Knight, because it amuses me.
Yeah, but she's weak in Axes so getting her up to snuff for the exam is gonna take some work.
I'm with you! I really like what we've seen from Edelgard so far, but I disliked Daenerys from the very start of GoT.
Yeah, it's craaaazy how close the series was for death after Radiant Dawn.

More like RD, and the DS remakes, and even then it wasnt that close to death, Nintendo wanted the game to sell 250k in japan that isn't that much above what RD did and on par with the GBA and DS games
Not really that odd. Similarly styled JRPG protagonists have been handled the same way with fixed appearances and a default name that can be changed.
Thank god they stuck it out, I cant think of many other really big franchises that were this close to death in the past.
Not to get all optimistic, but the person who said three MM options hasn't finished the game yet, so there might be even more.

From Vandal, it seems like the soundtrack is amazing (duh) but what's interesting is that the main fire Emblem theme is very different from what we are used to

True. But that's also still considered a scandal, if a graduate TA or lecturer has a relationship with an undergrad, even with only a year or two difference in age. Buut I don't necessarily think that's a big deal personally so.

It's contradictory efforts to me. I don't care for meaningless half measures. In such story and character driven games either make them a fully fleshed out and defined character with their own voice and personality like any other or make them a real deal player insert we can completely make our own. A silent, personality-less character that we can't even customize visually is just useless.
Yes, and it's a practice I generally dislike as it serves no purpose or benefit to the game.

One comment I'm seeing kinda regularly is that Normal is quite easy. I'm still rather new to this series so... do we know what exactly is modified when Hard is chosen instead? I'm considering going that route.
In your translation, I'd use "full of amazing songs" instead of authentic songs, since the Vandal author is using those words to indicate those are truly good songs (temazos). Authentic is the direct translation but it doesn't really fit.
And yeah, most likely he's referring to that song - it's far more sad than the usual way they play the theme (the celebratory tone they use in the ending of FE 7 comes to mind). As counterpoint to it, we have the main theme - Young Lady of Hresvelg, that's a bit more upbeat but the lyrics also point to the sadness and pain the war brought.

Usually there are more enemies, you gain less exp, and you can't grind indifinetly unlike normal mode.
Man I wish the frame rate wasn't so choppy. But the style looks good, and it's looking better and better.
You can always play Casual/Hard that way if you find the game is a bit too difficult you won't be overly penalized if you happen to lose a few units every battle or so.
I'm a little confused cause some people sound like they're not happy with the representation, others are? So I'm not sure what's going on there.
Ahh, okay. That sounds very good and also bad, lol. I enjoy grinding. ;_; I'll keep an eye out, though.
Multiple previews talk about how good the music is, but tbh all recent FE games have amazing soundtracks so it's something I kind of expected. Also from Vandal:

The framerate on the cutscenes is intentional - I've hear it is an animation style in Japan that is all the rage right now.
