He does I think one of the worst characters in the game (Isn't also on the lower end of archers in the game?) but I still expected him to be above a non playable character

Yeah, Ignatz is one of the worst archers in the game. It's not surprising. Gatekeeper was memed everywhere and Ignatz is kind of forgettable, especially if you haven't played GD.
Having played Golden Deer (saving a redo of it and BE for a maddening playtrhough once DLC is all out) he is forgettable there too :P
You are not. I love Leonie. She is definitely my best character in Claude's story.
He is a good character.
I guess it can also help that he is easily one of the most easily recruit-able characters.
Leave the painter boy alone! Given his high dex growths, he isn't even supposed to be an archer. Give him lethality and a crit ring and he is able to keep up very well as a master savant.
Easily recruitable, great supports, a beast on the battlefield.
Little surprised to see Dorithea so low but Bernie and Lysithea makes sense. Girl Byleth could be higher, her design is so good.

I just really like Ignatz as a character, mechanics wise, sure, there are better candidates like Petra. But honestly, I don't care about meta-gaming like that.

heard on a podcast (8-4?) that the japanese lines for Petra wasn't scrambled cute sentences like in English but just weird tenses formal speech that made her sound stuck up yet stupid

Is this form the same poll? also wtf at Sothis being 4, even if you take away the creep nature of S supporting her, the support was kind of whack.
Dorothea is way too low. Hilda and Bernadetta in the top 3 is good though. Male character list is fairly spot-on, though I would put Claude over Dimitri.
You are not alone. Petra and Leonie are great (Leonie is easily one of the best units in the game).
Yes, also you forgot about the word "first" in the title. People aren't calling these their favorites but what they pick on their first playthrough.
Ferdie's post timeskip hair isn't nearly as fabulous as Lorenz's (although admittedly it is still quite fabulous)
That's not a fair representation of Bernadetta. She's not childish, she's a victim of severe childhood trauma. She's also not helpless, she just has agoraphobia.
I would say they are about equal hair wise, though Ferdie got the better supports.
Honestly has some of the best supports in the whole game.
Catherine ended up that low? I figured she'd be equal with Shamir. Tho I guess some of her other supports didn't help.
Both have great supports but I think Lorenz just barely edges it out. His supports with Marianne and Lysithea are genuinely really sweet.
