so looking at the wikipedia i noticed something

The Irishman (titled onscreen as I Heard You Paint Houses) is a 2019 American epic crime film produced and directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Steven Zaillian,

what does it mean by "titled onscreen" why would Scorsese have a different title in the credits from the actual title of the movie?

I believe that's the title of the book it's based on. I guess it's just a cheeky way for Scorsese to give it credit?

Well, just theorizing, but maybe it's because if you saw a Netflix tile that said "I Heard You Paint Houses," most people would think it was a Sandra Bullock romcom from the early '00s. So you give it a snappy title like "The Irishman" for show and give it the romcom title in the actual movie. Bam.

if this one lands, wall street --> silence --> irishman is looking to be his greatest three-film run and possibly one of the greatest three-film runs of any director. whew

Too much GoNY slander in here. I think it's an entertaining romp and a good attempt at a Great American Epic narrative work. I'd put Shutter Island and Cape Fear beneath it. Haven't seen Bringing out the Dead.

I have a really soft spot for GoNY, had been defending it for ages, but eventually gave up trying to fight back. XD

I feel like everyone ignores Hugo when looking for weak entries in his filmography, though, why is that?

Still have to watch Mean Street, After Hours, the Color of Money, the Last Temptation of Christ before this drops. Just rewatched Taxi Driver recently, such a masterpiece.

Kundun is really good. The ending sequence of the sand Mandala intercut with the Dalai Lama's escape into India to the backdrop of a Phillip Glass score and ruminative but minimal narration is so good. Those rankings are just whack.

Wolf of Wall Street, Gone Girl, and The Social Network will most definitely be the films remembered by this generation into the future. Wolf did great business and young people fucking loved it (despite its critic score).
The Irishman seems to be the opposite, don't know if alot of young people will watch it

it's defintelly an old man's movie

I didnt realize Joe Pesci was in this. Knowing that, I'm now really excited to watch this. Miss seeing Pesci on screen, and in Scorcesse mafia movie? Will be pretty difficult to disappoint me.

Considering how much this thread is alive, the most hype Netflix film ever. I think that this film and the Joker have the potential to win big at the Oscars.

I would be fine with either, both would be groundbreaking.
