I'm so glad I loved The Last Jedi.
Not liking that movie seems like an endless curse which must be such a burden to bear, considering how many people in this thread and elsewhere seem compelled to drag their baggage everywhere nearly two years later.
Super stoked for Knives Out!
Youtubers masquerading as critics is how I would summarize the majority of critics that are accepted by RT these days.I look forward to youtubers masquerading as critics complaining about how political the movie is.
Considering an extremely vocal segment of the people who disliked TLJ go out of their way to tell everyone all the damn time how much Rian raped their childhoods, the remark isn't unwarrantedLol, does people really need "not to be glad" if they didn't like The Last Jedi and then they found themselves enjoying this movie?
Not liking a director's movie and then liking another movie from the same person is not this utterly impossible thing to do, I mean it's a pretty common thing. So silly.
They at least seem more qualified than Jeremy JahnsYoutubers masquerading as critics is how I would summarize the majority of critics that are accepted by RT these days.

People still tweet abuse at Rian every damn day since TLJ came out.
Rian Johnson is such a fascinating filmmaker in that he makes movies that are really well received, but no one you speak to about them seems to like them.
OH shit. Johnson directed Fly? I hated that episode with a passion.
No. The key is to give him a blank slate in the SW universe. This sounds like a entertaining/good movie, unlike TLJ. The key is just to keep him out of SW.
I am in.
OH shit. Johnson directed Fly? I hated that episode with a passion.
This guy is really hit or miss!
I enjoyed Brick on the first viewing, but it doesn't hold up well on repeat viewings
Looper was good.
TLJ was bad
Knives Out seems to be good
Fly was bad, but the other two episodes he directed were good.
Maybe there is hope that these new SW films will be good. Or at least 1 out of 3 should be good going by his record.
Okay, that's a fair point. I shouldn't hate on Johnson alone for that episode.Fly is superb, but he didn't write, only direct. And I'm not sure there's much to criticize in the direction of the episode.

The prequels didn't, but Rian Johnson destroyed the franchise.Great director.
Made some great movies.
Destroyed the Star Wars franchise.
KNIVES OUT: a film about America. Review tomorrow. Sorry, one more: it was absolutely genius
With the KNIVES OUT premiere underway, think I'm finally cleared to gush that it's the best damn film I've seen all year. (Throw in last year, too.) Not just the crackerjack mystery I'd hoped for, but also deeply cathartic in ways I'd never have anticipated. Final shot is pure
Knives Out is flat-out awesome in every way. The funniest film I have seen this year - clever-as-hell writing & glorious performances (Daniel Craig steals the film), this murder-mystery send-up just killed it here at #TIFF19
KNIVES OUT: Pure entertainment. Great cast, perfect pacing, and such a smart script. People are gonna LOVE this.

TIL Lakeith Stanfeld is whiteIs it just me or....does Rian Johnson avoid using Black People in his projects?

Consciously or unconsciously, it's hard to say. It does stick out that TLJ was his most diverse cast, which was mostly inherited. He hasn't though, rather glaringly, had a PoC lead in any of his films or projects.
Is seeing my man Lakeith Stanfield in the trailer just a self-delusion?Is it just me or....does Rian Johnson avoid using Black People in his projects?
Ahh yes he clearly can't do any better because he meets the Token black dude quota.....And what about when we look at lead actors?

At first I thought this post was ironic but then you appeared to unironically state that Rian destroyed the Star Wars franchise.....in the same timeline where the three prequel films exist. He was forced to use a black lead in TLJ, and he shuttled him off to the casino planet.
He is definitely a racist, no doubt about that.
What's wrong with y'all? Goddamn. He was forced to use a black lead in TLJ, and he shuttled him off to the casino planet.

Nah...He was forced to use a black lead in TLJ, and he shuttled him off to the casino planet.

Good Christ Almighty. He was forced to use a black lead in TLJ, and he shuttled him off to the casino planet.

Imagine making a movie that some don't like and instead of just moving on, they have to try and destroy your character.Nah...
I'm actually impressed by how some of you create these ridiculous narratives.
That isn't even close to being true. Pretty much everyone I speak to about Looper really likes it.Rian Johnson is such a fascinating filmmaker in that he makes movies that are really well received, but no one you speak to about them seems to like them.
It's wild, lol. RJ might as well be the worst human to ever live, all over a space movie.Imagine making a movie that some don't like and instead of just moving on, they have to try and destroy your character.
RJ is either a racist and misogynist or liberal SJW cuck soyboy according to some folks.
Exactly, shows where their priorities lie. No shame. Can't tell what's worse, that time some members tried to argue months ago that TLJ is actually sexist (when it's the most overtly feminist SW film), or this instance where people are straight up accusing Rian of being a racist. (In a thread about his latest movie that literally critiques right wing culture and has a PoC as the lead.....). Like, both arguments straight up trivialize both racism and sexism to an insulting degree.
