RJ is one of the most consistently strong working directors today. It would be shocking if he did something that even was close to bad at this point.

Also, I don't care whether you liked the episode or not, Johnson directed the shit out of it.
It's weird that Rian Johnson gets the blame for Fly and not the people who actually wrote it (or for that matter, Vince Gilligan). Among that group Rian would have the least amount of input in making that episode.

People like to single out the stuff Rian has worked on, especially since TLJ. (I know some people didn't like Fly before that, too.)
I think that episode is a great breather though, I enjoyed it.

This is the first director in my entire life that I am actively boycotting after the complete trash of TLJ. Then I learn he directed the Fly episode of BB and it all comes full circle.
Yeah it really sucks that he directed one of the best episodes of that show.

I don't recall that one, what was it about? The fly one stands out more due to nothing happening which is eerily similar to TLJ.

Fly's character development and directing are top notch but because Walter going around throwing around Lightsabers and pulling down Star Destroyers, some people who are more interesting in the "badass" parts of Breaking Bad don't like it.

Yep. I have never encountered someone who had hatred for him that didn't come across like an unhinged crazy person. Like I truly wonder how self aware they are for how embarrassing they come across.
Despite me absolutely *hating* TLJ I can acknowledge Rian Johnson is a fantastic director. He directed Ozymandias for crying out loud and even made a no-action bottle episode fun to watch.
His writing leaves me wary though. Looper was a great movie but definitely not because of its writing.
And after the universal praise of this film's "twists and turns" I can't help but think of the somewhat similar praise of TLJ's subverting expectations. I hope I'm wrong though; how can you go wrong with a cast like this?

Let's be fair, though. A good whodunnit is all about twists and turns and subversions.
Having a supporting role here and there isn't what he's talking about. It still stands that RJ has never had a lead PoC in any of his films or projects. Which is depressing to those hoping that we'll live to see a non-white protag in a SW movie (not even touching the homogeneity of the creative process behind these movies).
