While I know this is still based on the books and not the game, I have to ask.......... did they play the game?

How would you improve them? What should it look like?
did they always look like they were crafted out of veiny alien sacs?
like the only way this could possibly look good and make sense is if they were just melted by dragons and re-animated

Have it not look like a scrotum or trash bag, is what I've seen from people in the main Witcher Netflix thread.
It should look like armor that protects in combat and not some cheap rubbery halloween costume.
Normal plate armor, that's black and gold. Not unlike the stuff worn in LOTR and GoT season 1. This just looks bad.
Have you played The Witcher and seen what Nilfgaardian armour looks like in that?
It doesn't even need to look that good, but at least make it look like a practical suit of armour. Black with some gold trim maybe. Whatever that wrinkly design is, it doesn't look good.
Isn't the writer of the books involved with this show?
I feel like he mandated that they distance themselves away from the game.

props always look weird if you just kinda take videos of them or look at them, takes a whole lot of lighting and post process work for them to not look 'cheap'
Nope, you are right, especially when made by someone who isn't photographer.
There are exceptions like this one, but with a 35mm camera :
they usually look terrible! who knows what they're going to look like when it airs. For example, this is a pile of bodies from Game of Thrones
So they're historically semi-accurate clown pants. Still ridiculous.
