MOD EDIT: To clarify, there will still be a press conference:

MOD EDIT: Update:

https://blog.us.playstation.com/201...-the-journey-begins-june-11-at-600pm-pacific/

It's been an exceptional year for games, thanks to genre-defining masterworks like A Way Out, Far Cry 5, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, and Moss.

But 2018 is just getting started. To ring in a new year of incredible new gaming experiences, the PlayStation team is planning a new E3 Showcase — and we're inviting all of our closest friends. That means you!

Join us on Monday, June 11 starting at 6:00pm Pacific Time as we share a preview of what's next for PlayStation. We'll broadcast the show live from E3 2018 in Los Angeles, California via live.playstation.com, Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.

In a rare break from tradition, we wanted to give you an early glimpse at what to expect heading into the Showcase on June 11. PlayStation's Worldwide Studios will be at E3 in full force to provide you with an exclusive look at four upcoming titles: Death Stranding from Kojima Productions, Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch, Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac Games, and The Last of Us Part II from Naughty Dog.

Of course, we'll have stellar announcements from third-party publishers and independent developers, who are all busy devising innovative new experiences that will make your heart race and your emotions soar — whether you're playing on PS4, PS4 Pro, or PS VR.

Stay tuned to PlayStation.Blog to learn a bit more about what's in store as we count down to June 11, 2018 and another exciting E3 season.

Our journey begins Monday, June 11 starting at 6:00pm Pacific time. Will you join us?

Segment starts around 5:50.

From Shawn Layden:
  • Monday, June 11th 2018, details coming soon
  • Exclusive looks and deep dives on 4 upcoming Sony World Wide Studios titles
  • Death Stranding
  • Ghosts of Tsushima
  • Spider-Man
  • The Last of Us Part II
  • Highlight on indies
  • 3rd party publishers (as usual)
  • No hardware announcements at E3 2018 (PS5 reference?)

They will be live streaming (as usual), nothing leads me to believe they won't have a traditional conference.

They did say more info would come for the actual conference soon.

The last time we got an "alternative" conference, we ended up with a whatever that 3-hour PSX thing was last year. They came up with the perfect formula in 2016, just stick to it, pleeeeease!

Listening now, definitely doesn't sound like it'll be traditional. The Last of Us, Part II will be the "centerpiece" of the major 4 exclusives they'll be showing off.

Shawn Layden:

"This E3 will feature four deep dives of our exclusive WWS titles."
Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man and The Last of Us Part 2.

Considering their format the last two years. A "direct" like show is probably a better idea. Put purely the focus on the games you want to show and talk about.

Hey if I get some gameplay of Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding plus a DMCV reveal then I'm game.

Well as long as it's not like their PSX last year....

It's not the first time Sony has taken inspiration from Nintendo, and it wont be the last

Overall a very good thing though

Makes sense, they've been going in this direction. Last year was basically like a Nintendo Direct but in front of an audience

I predicted this a dew days ago that Sony will have a very limited conference and Microsoft on the contrary a big one, more because I think Sony is focusing on His new hardware and software form it.

Very excited for Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima gameplay, but I hope for a couple new 1st party announcements too.

And I'd like some MediEvil footage too.

Hopefully no more press conferences for Sony. I prefer the Nintendo Direct approach.

Pretty much what I was expecting, excited to see and learn more about Ghost of Tsushima. Don't trust ND not to spoil stuff so will try to avoid TLoU 2 stuff and Spidey and DS should be good too.

They are calling death stranding a Sony world wide studios game huh
Pretty sure they have been since they announced the Kojima thing.

Will be hilarious (in a bad way) if it ends up like PSX last time. Or like when they tried to make their own Direct.
Will be interesting to watch anyway.

So focus on already announced games rather than new games? Wonder if they still have 1,2 major first party surprises in their pockets or keep that for next gen.

That's really disappointing, and from that wording no new exclusives announcement?

Wait, what? Kind of disappointed but also interested to see if this ends up being a better approach.

Also really excited to hopefully see gameplay of Death Stranding and Ghosts of Tsushima.

I read this as they announced too many games too early and are now stuck in a weird limbo where they're catching up.

I'm cool with this. I far prefer the snappy Nintendo direct format compared to those bloated conferences, so I'm glad to see Sony doing their own spin on it too!
