Huh. Wonder if the Guardiola rumours from a while back might gain some steam considering there seems to be a real chance City will be punished by UEFA.

Don't think so, probably Inter bound, i wouldn't be surprised if they choose an outsider like Inzaghi for example.
It's easy to forget that Inter seems to be loaded with money when they've been so consistently mediocre for the past 5-10 years.

--

Whoever they pick, as an outsider, it feels like the move would be for someone that can lead them to a CL more than someone that can lead them to another Serie A (though these two are usually connected of course).

For german speaking members: critical article about Manchester City and Abu Dhabi connection (not about the team, players or championship).

Well, the only journalist who was 100% sure about Allegri's departure since April (and that was also the first last summer to talk about Ronaldo) is talking about Guardiola for weeks, saying that we have an agreement with him, and that Conte is the plan B, we'll see what happens i guess.

If City gets punished (unsure how long or not that process will take, but people inside the club will have a clear understanding of where things are going overall), I can see him (and some players) using that as a scapegoat to move somewhere else.

Also if true, Guardiola would be one or the only (??) manager to coach both Messi and Ronaldo.

These things are often in their contracts. Relegation or failure to get in European competitions for administrative reasons instead of overall league placement can be used as a "get out free" card.
Players and coaches are much more likely to require them after the year Juve was forced into relegation for the fixed matches scandal.

Lol I'm upset too. Was trying to burst into the top four and ended up short by ONE freaking point!! Truly disappointing.

I bet United fans wished they waited a bit longer.

Nah, the only manager I'd have taken right now is Poch.

We've tried the whole "Successful manager in foreign leagues" thing.

Lol @ Brazil. They left Fabinho out of their Copa America squad.

Alisson and Firmino in though.

Sucks for him. But from our point of view it's good that he gets a full summer of relaxing. But knowing Brazilians it won't be a lot of relaxing I'm thinking.
True, by he will get regular selection soon enough; Alisson basically walks in regardless of being with us or not, and with Firmino he's arguably the most versatile and effective forward they've got when you compare his work ethic and link up, and even then he was seen as an impact sub at best for the WC. Can't help but feel the lack of silverware equates to their preference of certain players. But, if Fab carries on he'll be in a class of his own in midfield.

Why can't the men's team ransack Bayern like the women's. Already signed 2 players and the season is hardly over.

Sorta funny how opposite the men's and women's teams are. Women's team was dominant for years but then fell off when City came in and invested a lot of money, and everyone else started to take women's football more seriously. Now they're signing international players all the time and back to winning the league and in the Champions League.

Women's football still has a ways to go in Portugal (like.........a lot, really) BUT in the past 5-6 years we went from zero U21/U19/U17/etc national teams doing anything to having them actually go to the Euros and actually be a challenger in the qualifiers. So the future seems bright for the young ladies as there seems to be talent coming up.

The bigger issue is having top clubs for them here. Most of the traditional top clubs have only recently started having professional teams, so I feel like a lot of this younger talent will either go wasted or have to make their name in other Leagues, which is always x10 harder.

He doesn't have a great relationship with Ronaldo though. This has been well known to us, for quite a while. In fact it's long been rumoured that it has been a major factor into why he hasn't taken up our national team yet (something he has repeatedly said is a dream & goal of his).
He's obviously talking about Juve though, i'm sure Mendes would love to put him back in a top club.

I thought Allegri was supposed to have been sacked earlier in the year to allow Zidane to take over.

Well in Bellirin. I'll admit he's not the first name I'd think of to speak out about the bill, though that may be massive ignorance on my part. Regardless he is right; football has a tendency to breed idiocy, and worse still a sense of privilege - Wayne Hennessey immediately springs to mind - though there has been a more concentrated effort for a lot of them to use their status as a platform; Sterling with racism, Robbo with poverty, and for an issue as huge as the right to choose, you'd think there would be more figures in sport who are clearly pro-choice speaking out.
