I mean, what does this mean? LFC have to win all of our games and even then the title is in City's hands.

The extra games wouldn't have mattered for City's ridiculous squad. And the semi comes after the 2-3 games that they could drop any points in out of the 5. If City get to the date that they would've played the Semi without dropping points, they've won the title.
This. City getting through only kinda could've helped our chances purely on the off chance Spurs didn't lose half a squad and were looking getting revenge on them for being knocked out. True Spurs do still need as many points as possible, and there's a chance this City side under Pep could require more than this game to get over themselves but none of that matters if we don't win every match now, which is the same situation we'd be in if Porto pulled off the impossible. Still feel May 4th is too perfect a destined day.

i unironically think liverpool should concentrate on the league instead, with mc out of cl they will 100% concentrate all their efforts on the league now

"Concentrating on the league" isn't a thing at this stage.

There's 6 games left. Win them all and you win the league (probably) and earn a 7th for a one off shot at the CL. It is what it is. They're already in the mindset to win every game between now and the end of May.

Aye. It's going to be the strongest possible team from us regardless. The only game that there's MAYBE a chance of resting 1-2 (max) players in is Newcastle. It falls between the 2 semi games, but we'll have a much better idea about the chances of the league at that point. If we're ahead of City there, you don't possibly rest players, you just hope to get the job done early and take them off. Try and tell me the top players won't want to play every single minute between now and a possible final.

Our idea of 'resting' players last night where Firmino and Hendo didn't play and the former came on at half time and the latter played for over 20 mins.

I tell you what makes legs and minds feel a lot better; winning games.

Watford will beat City in the FA cup final. They'll summon the spirit of Ben Watson.

Heard it here first.

Haha.

Every single eventuality from this point other than Barcelona winning it is potentially a great story (and I say that as someone with no particular love for Liverpool). Most interesting semi final's the competition has had in years. No Bayern. No Pep. No Madrid (either of them). No Juventus. PSG still useless. Great stuff.

Yeah, this year has been awesome. I think we can now safely close off the defined period of Barca/Atletico/Bayern/Juve/Real Madrid dominance --2013ish-2018ish -- where those teams mostly lost to each other. Gave us some immense, historic ties, but both the matchups and the squads got stale over the past couple years imo. Even when those teams were still winning they felt some distance down from their 2012-15 peaks.

Ajax, Liverpool, and Spurs are all good stories, and even Barca surviving gives us one of the best possible matchups from a neutral POV (two historic teams who have rarely played each other in the modern era). Great stuff.

This is a bit premature, its only been one season and Barca are still in it. It wouldn't be a surprise if they win it, in which case you would be looking at 6 consecutive CL wins by one of the big two Spanish clubs

Era defined not just by the winners but by the overall performances (sorry for the long post):

2013: Bayern win, Barca lose to Bayern, Juve lose to Bayern. Madrid lose to Dortmund, Atletico not in the competition.

2014: Barca lose to Atletico, Bayern lose to Madrid, Atletico lose to Madrid, Madrid win. Juve fail to qualify for knockout rounds.
2015: Atletico lose to Madrid, Madrid lose to Juve, Bayern lose to Barca, Juve lose to Barca, Barca win.
2016: Juve lose to Bayern, Barca lose to Atletico, Bayern lose to Atletico, Atletico lose to Madrid, Madrid win.
2017: Barca lose to Juve, Bayern lose to Madrid, Atletico lose to Madrid, Juve lose to Madrid, Madrid win.

2018: Juve lose to Madrid, Bayern lose to Madrid, Madrid win. Barca lose to Roma, Atletico don't qualify for the knockout rounds.
2019: Barca still alive, Atletico lose to Juve. Juve lose to Ajax, Bayern lose to Liverpool, Madrid lose to Ajax.

So call these teams the group of five. From 2014-17, a four-CL period, none of these teams lost a knockout tie to a team outside the group of five, and the only blemish is Juventus not qualifying for the knockout round in 2014. In 2013 and 2018, the boundary years, there are two "blemishes" per year.

In 2019, we've already seen three eliminations of these sides by teams outside the group of five and we're likely to see a fourth.

Hazard is the best player in the Prem and at his absolute peak, those players are expensive no matter age/contract. I don't know if it's an economically wise signing but they very much need him.

So, Chelsea vs Frankfurt and Arsenal vs Valencia (as the results stand).

A possible Chelsea vs Arsenal final in the making. That would be fun tbh.

Top Four and a Europa League Trophy would be enough to say Emery has hit the ground running, Top Four and a Europa League Trophy may not even be enough to save Sarri. Madness.
