Gameplay Trailer:

Didn't see a thread. As per usual with the new heroes, there's a unique male and female each for the hero.

Ubisoft said:
For Honor Year 3, Season 3 – titled Hulda – is coming on August 1, and brings with it the Jormungandr, a new feral Viking Hero. Playable in both female (Hulda) and male (Gretar) versions, the Jormungandr are Viking sectarians devoted to the mythical great serpent after which they're named. Armed with their mighty War Hamarr, they cull the weak before the arrival of Ragnarok, as only the strongest may fight in the battle to come. Year 3 Pass holders will have immediate access to the Jormungandr when Season 11 launches on August 1. All other players will be able to purchase the new Hero on August 8 for 15,000 in-game Steel.

Seems pretty cool, and was the first Year 3 hero to be hinted, so they've been working on them for awhile. The trailer shows Hulda. Below is a screenshot of Gretar.

And finally, new executions for Season 11:

I'm noticing a theme around these Year 3 heroes

BP is the better Warlord
Hitokiri is the better Shugoki
Jormungandr looks to be the better Centurion

Wonder who the last hero will be a better version of?

It really is. A lot of the new executions step it up, they're clearly having fun. Bombs attached to weapons and shit, lmao.

Haven't played for a good while, seems like that will continue for longer. The past few heroes: Black Prior, Sakura and now Hulda don't interest me at all. I want to like this game as much as I did before, but I may be over it. It doesn't help that, my main, the Valkyrie's rework from a while back was one I wasn't fond of.

I don't know if it's just me, but the animations doesn't look polished. Thought the same thing when I saw the Sakura's trailer. One of the main drawing oints of For Honor for me was the nice animations, so this was disappointing.

Looks interesting, though another stamina draining Centurion-like scares me.

wut? That's just....not what this game is. You might as well ask the same question about Rainbow Six Siege.

If it helps the latest patch nerfed stamina damage a lot. If you run out of stamina it can no longer be damaged until it fully regenerates. So you can't lock people iinto an out of stamina stance anymore.

Sorry meant the actual combat. I actually don't care much for executions lol. I was mostly a dueler so I thought of executions as a waste of time. They were good for heals in Brawls, but Valkyrie could rarely finish a person off with a heavy.

Seems like Epic is going to give away the standard edition for free which is a fantastic deal and great way to start this new patch. The changes seem great and fix a lot of the issues and bullshit. It's worth a try for anyone interested. It's one of the most unique and fun multiplayer games I've ever played (gameplay, unlockables, cosmetics). Easy to pick up and play and there's tons of unlocks which are motivating to keep playing. I highly recommend to learn the basics from the tutorial and go straight online. Play one of the 4 vs 4 modes (especially Dominion and Breach with the new map) with one or more friends together. I personally started with the free starter edition they gave away last year and bought the standard edition and have purchased with the ingame currency tons of characters and cosmetics. My favorite reward system in any game yet (I've played so far).

Chinese straight sword, so Warden probably. Lots of longsword stabs I'm guessing.

I think the moveset looks great for the Jormungandr, it's going to feel super satisfying landing some heavies or that OOS overhead smash. And I'll definitely spend a boatload of steel on the weapons and fashion. Why do they only do leather though, with that metal helmet on the higher gear set, chain mail and metal armor would have been perfect!

Executions for them here-

Thanks for making this thread, Buttzerker! I was going to if no one did.
I love this game, play it almost every day. My ps4 is pretty much just a FH machine.

God I really need to get back into this game. Absolutely loved For Honor back in the day
You should!! There are so many heroes/weapon styles now it's fun to bounce around to find one that fits.

My goal is to get as many as possible to rep 7 for the true reason to play, badass customization and fashion!! Haha
The wife says "oh you playing Barbie dress up knights tonight?"
Yes. Yes I am. Just look at that Shugoki!

Buttzerker, these threads doe out real fast. Thank god for the Reddit community, right?

Love Peacekeeper's execution - I swear I'm the only one who uses her crossbow as third tier feat as opposed to Sharpen Blade.

Even when the game will be dead for five years, r/forhonor will still be churning out memes, and I love them for it.

I keep talking myself into and out of downloading this game. I like fighting games because I'm only responsible for myself, and if I screw up or don't win the other person won't get angry. The breach stuff reminds me of Paragon (Epic Games 3rd person moba, the creeps escorting the siege weapon thing) which I really liked, but I mainly played that in a relaxed PVE multiplayer with no possibility of people raging, 0 toxicity. I also liked the character mastery progression with cosmetic unlocks and things for that character. I see the old For Honor had a level up system that gave rep from 1-20 and you got better gear at higher rep, but now the gear system is changed for perks.

I should just go ahead and download this thing (data cap worry so early in the month).
Then I see this on reddit. Ok I'm sold, there's things to work for.

This has Fashion Frame too? (a reference to Warframe's endgame which consist of makeing your Frames look cool with cosmetics) I really should have read the whole thread. So rep 7, what's at rep 7?

Makes me think of a Final Fantasy Ivalice Judge with how ceremonial it looks all while still seeming intimidating. Lawbros huh. Noted, thanks for pointing me in the direction as I research that class.

There are numerous sets of weapon and armor skins for each character. Some are available when you first start playing a new character, others only start dropping post-match once you reach a certain rep level. At rep 7 or thereabouts is when you're able to start consistently acquiring the highest tier items.

It's quite a fantastic game. And just so there's no confusion, since I saw you mentioned rep 1-20 in an earlier post: each reputation (rep) consists of 20 levels, so reaching rep 7 with a particular hero involves leveling them up seven times over, and that can take a fair number of hours. Be sure to complete the daily orders for maximal XP gain.

There's a really neat FH fashion site here (menu's in the top-left corner) that shows all of the available weapon/armor items for each hero, might give you a better idea of who you might be interested in playing - but speaking personally, Lawbringer is an excellent choice.

Yeah, I saw that when I first looked into Rep. It's actually similar to Paragon in that sense. Prestige, it seems daunting if you want to speed to the top, but if you play to have fun and focus on characters you enjoy you get there. I'm the type of person that probably just enjoy making progress on anything.

Thanks for the fashion site and xp gain heads up.

I've been meaning to get back into For Honor. What's the highest playerbase platform? I'll probably just play where the players are since i've been gone so long. This would be a great option for cross play honestly.

I believe PS4 is the platform with the most players, but PC has a pretty healthy population as well with several thousand playing at peak and reasonable queue times (except for unpopular modes like Elimination, Skirmish, and Tribute).

And unfortunately, For Honor wouldn't work very well for cross-play, since the console versions run at 30 fps and PC version framerate is unlimited.

Ubisoft, Skyrim 2 ain't coming for like 7 years, gimme an open world For Honor RPG to kick off next gen.

Damn, didn't know the console version is 30fps. I might just stick with PC then since it sounds like the playerbase is healthy enough.

Yeah it sounds like 30fps console version makes fighting harder due to the time you have to see and react to something. Good to hear the PC version isn't capped to 60fps.

It's such a great game. Honestly, it's my favorite. I can't stop playing it, and it's the game I've always wanted.

And if PvP isn't for you, you can play any mode with and against AI bots.

The new Hammer Bro is pretty damn fun to play, especially when you learn his/her stamina drains to get to the giant smash. I love the new Breach map too, nice to have an event focused just on that map right now to get acquainted with it.

I'm having fun getting the Vikings up to Rep 7 to get all the gear, I have almost all of the knights to 9. Lawbro was an early main for me, I'm in the minority who actually like his recent rework.

Nuxia has great high tier fashion too.

From experience playing the jormungandr, he's very weak in multiple areas.

-low hp for a heavy
-damage is below average, even for a light-parry punish
-terrible range
-relies too much on oos for any sort of pressure (this feeds revenge)
-feels overall clunky compared to the other year 3 heroes.

I agree with those, except he doesn't feel as clunky as he did at first (I'm only to about rep 3 with him). But yeah, range is pretty bad. And he burns a ton of stamina too.

it is fun going back to black prior now, I haven't played him in a while.

Jorm is like Day 1 Centurion. Intimidating but you realize his kit is very limited. That said his hyper armor heavies and mixups have potential he just has to work.

He won't he top tier but he isn't as bad as like Gladiator.

Playing this with the Steam Controller is giving me a bit of a puzzle to solve. The mouse blocking is just odd to me with the track pad, I wish I could disable mouse blocking all together and while I assign buttons to touch dpad or something as well as continue using it for mouse look. I really hate analog emulation on the right track pad, and using keyboard/mouse buttons + joystick buttons cause a command stutter since the game seems to transition between the two control modes.

The Steam version seem to have developer made Steam Controller context commands (like stop mouse control on touch pad when in block mode). I saw someone using the gyro for the blocks. I can still do that as long as I stop touching the right touch pad which would mess up my block though. Hmm. I should be able to get the Steam Settings by naming my EGS link in Steam to For Honor or just give it it's own link. I'll try that later.
Time stamped the gyro block part.

Love the game and graphics. It's so smooooth, I finally have a fighting game that runs at 144hz. I can mountain train and have fun doing it. I actually like fighting the CPU in that arena. I wonder if I can reset my HP after I kill it though. I trained with that Hero that has a hammer and drains my stamina allowing her to do a powerful attack when she knocks me down. It taught me to dodge after I block her stuff haha. This combat is very satisfying when I'm not super focused on fighting with block direction changing.

Yeah steam controller is a bad fit for the game but glad you are enjoying it! Personally always thought it looks insanely good for the scale and amount going on and the map design is great.

Hopped in to play some matches today and whew I got my ass handed to me. A bit of muscle memory was coming back by the end. Still figuring out who i'll stick with playing. It was taking me a while to find matches on PC (5+ minutes for both Breach and the general battle one) but i'm wondering if that's because after a long break the matchmaking doesn't know where to put me.

I haven't really been doing much outside of training and 1v1. For breach I do players vs ai for a bit since I'm still new and those are fast (4 less players, and a lot of new players playing I bet).

I have been messing with trying to set up a control setup the whole day. I kind of regret not having the steam version since it's the one that have official developer configuration with context buttons, custom action tabs (while in block mode everything changes to have a custom control configuration. Menu and Gameplay are the other two. Gyro blocking is setup now though and it's nicer, a bit more immersive though all I do is slightly tilt the controller left/right roll and pull back tilt for up block/parry. Feels natural and quick enough. Now to adjust to my first unlocked hero, Shinobi.

I wish there was a option to leave the group but stay in the post match area. I like to look over the stats and take my time after a long battle, also I hardly ever go back to back in a match unless it's a quick 1v1 or something. Exit to map just takes me out of all of that.
