There are nearly always ways to get rid of people in any public company. Their actions and subsequent negligence could easily be argued as causing serious damage to the image of the company and most companies have a means of forced buyouts, especially for employees.

I wonder if this stuff varies in different countries' laws. You'd think they would have bought that Reinhard guy out in that case. Even if the major shareholders there were somehow ambivalent on a personal level to this stuff, they would surely have money on their mind and be worried about the damage this would do to their image and force out the bad actors to improve that image, out of worry for their money if not worry for human decency.

It's worth noting that the Shenmue 3 Dev team signed with Deep Silver before the THQ acquisition, so Yu Suzuki was not actively trying to associate with them.

Also, Deep Silver wasn't involved in the Kickstarter at all, so it's not like backers somehow benefitted them. That money was probably mostly spent when Deep Silver arrived.

I'm not going to boycott Shenmue but this reinforces my original wish than this was published by SEGA (Although this would mean that DS will still be the publisher) or at least I hope that after the game is launched YS cut ties with them.

This would certainly made me hesitate on getting their games.

Sega though, please publish your own damn game in Europe!

Looking at PSN UK only Yakuza Kiwami is published by Deep Silver the rest is Sega Europe and Wasteland 2 is published by InXile Entertainment.

I can understand the THQ Nordic boycott, but Why Deep Silver ?

Don't confuse THQ the group, and THQ the gaming Branch.

It's the gaming Branch of THQ that made that AMA, not the group

Was going to support them to support a dying AA industry but honestly this will be the easiest boycott of my life

They were WARNED about 8chan. Over and over. And clearly thought whatever market they could find in gamergate community would be big enough for it to be worth it. And it clearly wasnt, hope myself and many others will show them that

Backed Shenmue 3 and even if i hadn't, i don't see why Suzuki needs to be punished for his publisher's doings.
The rest of the games in the list, i was never interested in.

No new Yakuza games on the horizon, so they got nothing I can't live without from the looks of it.

Will gladly give everything there a miss.

Why not boycott games that are announced in the future and not games whose contracts and development predate the colossal fuck up THQ Nordic did?

Deep silver/thq publishes Yakuza in Europe? News to me.
They distribute the physical versions of all Sega/Atlus games in Europe, including Yakuza, Catherine, Persona 5, Puyo Puyo Tetris and so on. Sega Europe still publishes them all digitally though, so we only have to avoid the physical versions.

Mórríoghain you really need to clarify that stuff because it's pretty misleading as is.

Shitty move that they pulled. I'll just grt biomutant, shenmue and dead island used. Decent compromise I guess. Backed bloodstained so im getting that physical copy come hell or high water.

You're saying this as though associating with THQ Nordic was problematic before the AMA. It wasn't. So the same get out of jail card you apply to Yu Suzuki could be applied to all the developers under/associated with THQ one way or another.

After what happened in New Zealand today and how right-wing terrorist use 8chan as their gathering place and how THQNordic didn't even fire the cunt who decided that was the platform this publisher should use to promote their games, I decided to boycott THQNordic and their subsidiary Deep Silver's upcoming games until a shake-up happens at the Swedish company.
I think you should add the fact that some 8chan users cheered the poster, with one replying to the original post (the terrorist's) with a MGS salute...

This is a partucular tricky situation.

At one side the publisher is despicable and deserves any boycott.

On the other side the devs and studios making those games 1) propably closed a deal with this publisher without knowing anything about the "culture" of the publisher 2) they propably can't abort the deal right now and have stuck with this publisher.

What is the right solution?

I posted similar in the main AMA thread but the problem here is people want an option where no-one that doesn't deserve to be punished doesn't get punished. Sadly that is not an option and people who don't deserve to be punished are going to be punished by association (but THQ put them in that position in the first place).

THQ's public endorsement and promotion of that website will (maybe already has) produce new victims of CP and for me that trumps a few game devs losing their jobs.

What you and others that ask similar questions need to ask yourselves is who would you rather get hurt here?

For me, it sucks, but if the devs have to be laid off because of what THQ did then so be it.

One of the AMA participants was a high-level employee of GmbH and a major shareholder in AB, and the CEO of GmbH is also the CEO of AB and founder of the company, whose response to all this was to shrug, point at the wildly insufficient response, wait 6 days, and then issue yet another totally insufficient response.

I've been anticipating Wreckfest for years. And I'm still getting the console version of that. Also anything upcoming from Bugbear games too. I've been a huge fan of their prior games.

Everything else I wasnt planning on getting anyways.

I was interested in a couple of their games, but I'm not willing to support them until they rectify this. I also removed all games they published from my Steam wishlist (which was just Elex and Expeditions: Viking).

Don't Deep Silver operate independently from THQ Nordic, despite both companies technically being owned by the same Holding company?

I wasn't going to buy any of those games anyways so it's not exactly a boycott, but I support anyone who avoids them.

This is why I've personally found videogame boycotts to be ineffective. Let's say for example that EA burned you on Anthem so your going to boycott them, but you hate all of EA's other games and wouldn't have bought them anyway.

More power to anyone who plans to go through with it. I don't know if I'll commit to a full boycott, but if I see a THQ logo I'll definitely think twice.

ResetERA admins decided to allow THQNordic's games discussions to continue. I respect that decision but I can't bring myself to give even a single dollar to that company. Especially after today's events.

For the uninitiated, THQNordic decided to do an ama session on a known cp lover / right-wing extremist hell hole website called "8chan" acted like they belong in there with their disgusting replies to homophobic/hateful questions, posted a limp-ass apology on Twitter after mainstream press caught up with it, and swept the whole thing under the rug like it was nothing.

Here is the list of games that you might want to consider not supporting. It is, of course, your personal choice to boycott these games.

Im holding the marketing executive responsible, not THQ. I will keep buying their games if they interest me.

But if something similar were to happen again I would start blaming THQ and consider not buying their games anymore.

The boycott is one part, but continuing to keep the message alive is another important component that will play a part of every THQN thread here as long as folks remain passionate about it. Done right, it will continue to inform and remind.

If I'm boycotting something, I'll bring it up whenever I find it relevant. There was one point in my life where I had 3 Samsung devices crap out *just* outside of warranty coverage (2 phones and a TV), their CS were entirely unhelpful, and in one case (the TV), they actually told me it was impossible to fix due to how the part was designed and that basically, sorry buddy, buy a new TV. It wasn't a Samsung I replaced it with. Gamestop is another one that I'll bring up whenever the topic comes up.

One of the individuals posting on the thread was not in marketing but, in fact, is THQ Nordic senior management. His title is Director of Business and Production Development. It is not isolated to their marketing department.

The one problem i now see with this thread is that it has become a thread that essentially presents the products of THQ that we are willing to avoid/boycott and probably works like a promotional one.
It might be best to return to the main thread and ask to have the list of games published from them as an edit of the OP there.

Not touching shit on that list.

And yes I was interested in Saints Row and Darksiders Switch ports, but supporting 8chan is fucking travesty. Will never condone it.
