Recent current events didn't change anything. I already expressed my extreme displeasure to THQNordic on this very site in the past. I already knew that 8chan was literally the most vile place on the Internet.

It's not like some sudden realization. Oh wow maybe I should boycott their games now that I know how bad the site is.
The terrorist attack has nothing to do with my boycott. People started boycotting THQ within 24 hours of the AMA. The higher ups at THQ have shown that they either don't care, or they think it was a good place for an AMA. One of the board members took part in the AMA and clearly enjoyed the homophobic memes there. The company is garbage, and they will never get my money again.

Cool. Do whatever you want, dude. But stop criticizing others for wanting to exercise their rights as consumers.

No one owes developers anything.

1. Small group or one person is irrelevant to the conversation about developers and how they remain innocent and completely divorced from the publisher who puts out their game. They signed contracts and deals months if not years prior to any controversy.

2. What the fuck are you talking about. You think money just magically comes out of thin air? What happens when the game sells extremely poor?Everything is performance based. Who is going to publish their next game? How many staff are going to be laid off when the funding stops rolling in, the money dries up and now no paychecks can be dolled out.

I don't even know why I'm responding to this post. It's just absurd.

There is no way I can give money to the devs without a good portion of it going to the publisher. So I am not going to give neither of them any of it. As I mentioned before, it's my money and no one is entitled to it. You seem to have a different opinion, so go buy their games and stop posting on this thread. The title is very clear, the people who are here have the intention to boycott THQ Nordic games.

Your complete and utter lack of compassion and snark is rather heartbreaking.

There's quite a difference between THQ Nordic and Deep Silver publishing and both just distributing them for other publishers so I think a difference between those should be made. One is actual publishing, another is just regional publishing and the other is just distribution.

Aside from Persona 5, which I already bought, their library doesn't suit my tastes anyways. Fuck this company.

And as far as THQ Nordic, nothing from them don't even interest me so there's nothing even to boycott. And Deep Silver as well, even more because I'm from Brazil. lol

I'll add the following:
Developpers can be laid off when a company is making shiton of profits. Does it mean buying their games also punish the devs ?

If you don't want to give THQ Nordic AB any money from my purchase (whatever the amount) then there's no difference, at least to me.

The vast majority of european retail versions of games seems to be produced/distributed by Koch Media, which as of last year belong to THQ Nordic AB, so if I don't want to support them, all I can do is order from regions around the world and make sure the game is not published worldwide by THQN or Deep Silver.

You might also look into buying european versions used (which still requires someone to give the money to THQN in your stead) or buy digital versions of games where Koch Media only handles physical distribution or Deep Silver/ THQN only publish the retail versions but I don't have any means to confirm that any of them don't have a hand in the digital publishing procedures so I will rather avoid europe entirely for the time being.

I still don't think boycotting all THQ Nordic published titles is the right move, as I still fail to see how the Biomutant dev is responsible for shitty PR of THQ Nordic. We were after all supposed to buy RDR2 according to ERA despite the crunches...

OP still hasn't fixed his shitty list. How many people are coming into this thread, seeing Sega games like Yakuza, Puyo Puyo Tetris and Persona 5 and assuming Deep Silver publishes those games everywhere, when in reality Deep Silver only distributes the physical versions of those games in Europe. If you buy those games in Asia or NA, Deep Silver doesn't see a cent of your money. And if you're in Europe, Deep Silver has nothing to do with the digital releases.

I won't buy any of those except for Shenmue III, which I've backed on Kickstarter.
As far as I'm aware, while Deep Silver may have helped fund and publish the final product, none of our (Kickstarter backers) money went to them, they went directly to Ys to help fund development. Deep Silver didn't jump in until long after the Kickstarter campaign ended.

Good to hear! I happily donate to Yu Suzuki and his team, but THQ/DS can fuck off.

Just a reminder that if you don't contact the companies to tell them you're going to boycott their games, the boycott really won't matter. You need some sort of petition or something too, and would need to go outside Era for support. Also, you'll have to be ready for all the idiots who aren't just satisfied with ignoring a call for boycott, but are actively hostile towards it.

And this. Make sure any list is completely clear and accurate in regards to which cases will be sending money to THQ Nordic.

Thanks for the list. Will it be updated in the future? I wasn't interested in any of these games but want to make sure I'm not supporting them with any other purchases later on, at least until they've fired the guys we know were involved in the AMA. I doubt this will ever happen though.

Gaming is a tough hobby lately. I love playing video games and it absolutely sucks that I'm feeling more and more grossed out by the people who share this hobby with me. I feel a bit of guilt by association at times when so much of the gaming news includes places like 8chan, or PDP, too many "heated gamer moments", and so much more. It's exhausting and gross.

So yeah, boycotting an entity that makes me feel worse about enjoying video games is a really easy decision for me.

Agreed. The real-time tactics/squad-based stealth genre is extremely niche and any quality entries need to be supported, otherwise the genre will very likely die. Nordic made an idiotic marketing/PR choice but developers that had nothing to do with it shouldn't be punished for it.

This shit is dreadfully tired.

You lames will lambast developers and proudly scream about not buying a game over microtransactions...... Over Epic Store exclusivity.... Over DLC options.... Over fucking framerate..... Over censoring fucking anime titties and outfits and shit

Not even once you mention those "developers" you love so much. Not once do you give a damn unless they can be used as your little chip.

A few people decide to boycott a publisher over condoning a shit website and userbase and you all come shitting up the thread with your baby bullshit.

Give it a fucking break, piss out the damn thread. Transparent as fuck. Fucking corny ass gamers

I've already decided to not buy more THQNordic games after the AMA until a proper apology is followed by the firing of everybody involved into dragging the company and all its developers to the mud, and i'm glad to see that more people are taking a stance. I did the same for GoG when they avoided taking a position over their trans-phobic tweets.

I feel that a handful of Microsoft-published titles on PC and Steam should be added to the list:

Disneyland Adventures
ReCore: Definitive Edition
Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure
Super Lucky's Tale
Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Edition

All of these games are published by THQ Nordic at retail and are listed on the publisher's website. As for Steam, I'm not finding anything concrete, and they're labelled as Microsoft-published games on the storefront, but I am finding this initial write-up from Variety:

Microsoft teamed up with THQ Nordic to distribute five games on Steam and bring them to PC on disc, the company announced during its Gamescom press conference Tuesday.

The games coming to Steam and PC disc are "ReCore: Definitive Edition," "Super Lucky's Tale," "Disneyland Adventures," "Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure," and "Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection." All five hit on Sept. 14. All five are also Microsoft Studios published games made exclusively for the company's platforms.

The announcement is part of a publishing deal that has THQ Nordic distributing some of Microsoft's titles to Steam and physical retailers. It's unclear if this will expand to include further titles.

https://variety.com/2018/gaming/news/windows-steam-xbox-1202911522/

I would also include Sunset Overdrive, as it had a similar deal when it was announced, but it seems to no longer be listed on THQ Nordic's website. I was able to access this press release a few weeks ago, but it's straight-up gone now:

Despite that article, the partnership concerns retail copies only. All the games are self published on Steam by MS themselves

I have no intention do support this shitstain of a company going forward. So help me out here Era.
I'm based in EU and mildly interested in Yakuza and quite a bit interested in Shenmue III. What are my options?
OP isn't clear about the SEGA/Atlus situation. I'm fine if I buy Yakuza on PSN ore import, correct?
And Shenmue III? Are they worldwide publisher on that one? Both, digital and retail?

Shenmue 3 can be imported from China or Japan, where Deep Silver will not be the publisher, therefore cutting them out of the revenue stream. YSNet hasn't announced a Japanese publisher for the game yet, so it it won't be available to order from that region until they do.

Deep Silver is the distributor for Yakuza in Europe for physical copies only. If you buy the game digitally, or import a physical copy from any other region, Deep Silver is not involved in the transaction.

Thank you. And what about getting Shenmue digital on console (either one is cool for me) with my EU account?

New Zealand should have no effect on your boycott of THQ Nordic and Deep Silver. They had nothing to do with the shooting. They made an extremely bad decision on where to promote their game but to put any correlation between those two events would be asinine and immature.

I mean if anything the fact that 8chan reacted the way it did during the events of the New Zealand attack and the fact that the terrorist involved was a poster himself, let alone the fucked up history and notoriety the site had even before the AMA, it'll probably make it easier for some to boycott a company willing to promote themselves on such an awful fuckin' site.

I wouldn't call that immature or asinine.

I don't think this is entirely the case. The store pages for Persona 5, Valkyria Revolution, the two Utawareumono games, King of Fighters XIV and Yakuza Kiwami specifically state that the game is sublicensed and published by Deep Silver while all other Sega/Atlus titles do not.

It's probably a safe bet that Deep Silver will take a cut of any digital sales of the games above.

The website THQ Nordic chose to massively signal boost was already infamous for its criminality and neo-nazi radicalization.

It actively organizes harassment, swatting, doxxing; it facilitates child abuse; it disseminates child pornography; it's an unfettered microcosm of not just hateful ideology, but acting and organizing based on it.

It's where the NZ terrorist discussed, planned, attempted to coordinate, and ultimately streamed the massacre (to cheering audiences).

That such an attack came from an 8ch poster was an inevitability, not a surprise. Judging THQ Nordic's chosen association with and boosting of the website even more harshly because of the recent shooting isn't unfair, because the website didn't just suddenly become linked to radical activity.

It was all well-known and easy to figure out besides. All evidence points to Philip Brock being aware of the website's infamy before the AMA — and given the THQ reps' comfortability during the AMA, some may even have frequented site before. The very first reply to the AMA was "Heil Hitler," for god's sake; the white supremacy wasn't hidden.

They've made an AMA on a site where people openly cheer for a mass murderer as he livestreams mass murder.
