Simple question as in the title.

Seeking some insight on the matter.

Thx in advance.

I'm lucky enough to lack the ability to really feel the difference between all these different frame rates. 30 is good enough for me!

I'm not even sure if I can perceive the difference between 60 and 120FPS.

On console, 4k60 HDR. On PC, 1440p/120-165hz.

I switched my TV to 120hz 1080p to check out FPS Boost and it wasn't really worth it because I also lost HDR.

The C9 let's you do 4K 120. There's an adapter I bought that let's you push it, but it's very demanding unless it's much older games.

Depends on the game, some I prefer 4k 60.

Others I play on 1000 fps ( Rocket League lowest settings, 1080p on RTX 3090)

No 1 solution for all games

1080p/120fps 👌🏾

Borderlands 3 and DMC5 Special Edition run super smooth at that framerate. It's not hard to go back to 60fps compared to 60 vs 30 imo, but as long as the option is there I will always choose it.

Both my monitor and TV do 4K/120, and with G-Sync it doesn't matter if I hit that or not.

1440p looks too blurry for me, and the extra frames aren't worth it.

I've only tried Devil May Cry 5 at 120hz on PS5 so far and it didn't impress me as much as I'd hoped.

Multiplayer shooters are always 120fps which is why I don't play them on console unless they're exclusive.

Everything else can be 60fps.

4k 60 but my set up is able to push some newish hzd pc to like 75-90 on my c9 which is so smooth. I think only doom eternal runs at like above 100fps at 4k on my set up at the moment

4K and 30/60FPS.

FPS doesn't bother me in any way. A game can run at 20FPS, and I don't notice it. So there's no world that I want to sacrifice any resolution or details by going beyond 30FPS.

If you have a 120hz monitor, this will help:

www.testufo.com

Blur Busters TestUFO Motion Tests. Benchmark for monitors & displays.

Blur Busters UFO Motion Tests with ghosting test, 30fps vs 60fps vs 120hz vs 144hz vs 240hz, PWM test, motion blur test, judder test, benchmarks, and more.

120hz is especially important when it comes to lateral camera movement.
I see it here, but in games I can't tell the difference.
Played through half of the MCC at 60fps and the other half at 120 on the new TV and I just can't see it.

It really depends on the game. I tend to prefer RPGs and adventure games, so 4k 60fps is vastly superior to 2k 120fps. It would likely be the opposite if I was invested in fast-paced shooters. That said, in reality, I'm typically playing at 4k ~80-120fps which is the best of both worlds. :)

Yeah, some people see the difference easier than others. The input method makes a difference too. Playing an FPS with a mouse at 120 FPS is noticeably different than 60 FPS. The difference is less pronounced with a controller since the camera movement is smoothed out.

edit: I found that the old game Trails in the Sky to be one of the easist ways to show why a high framerate is nice. It's has a 3/4 overhead camera and your character runs around very quickly. The environment is very blurry at 60 while it looks great at 120.

As long as I get at least 60fps, I don't care if the resolution is 4K, 1440p or 1080p. Sub-1080p is kinda rough, though.

I don't care for 120fps because I'm mainly a console player and I spent almost 100% of prior console generations playing games that usually struggled to achieve a locked 30fps with good frame pacing, so 60fps already feels like heaven to me.

120fps for competitive always. So far it's been the standard for crossgen games but it needs to be same for current gen only games.

120FPS with no question. Either 1080p or 1440p. Even just for basic desktop usage + mouse movement. Doesn't even need to be games. It'd be cruel and unusual punishment to go back to lower FPS. Same for a comparison between 120 vs. 240. It'd just be unhealthy to choose the lesser.

1440p/60/RT or 1440p/120

4K looks great but I prefer a balance of resolution, framerate, and graphics

It really depends on the game, but in my experience 4K/60FPS provides a good level of fluidity and input response while still having great graphical fidelity.

If we're talking competitive games I'll always take 1080/120 over 4K/60, though.

It depends on the game.

1440p @ 120fps is the best, but it's also harder to achieve than 4k 60fps, so many console games are going lower than 1440p for 120fps, which makes the difference a harder choice.

I've been bouncing back and forth between 120fps and 60fps depending on the game though. Gameplay heavy games, especially if they have great AA solutions and art styles that lend themselves well to lower resolution, like Sea of Thieves, just play so good at 120fps that I rarely turn on 4k anymore on my Xbox.

Others though, like Battlefield V on Series X, just look soooo much better at 4k 60fps that it's hard to justify the visual hit for the extra performance.

4k 120+fps is the ultimate performance profile of course, and RTX 3080/3090, and RX 6800/6900 XT cards on PC are delivering that, amazingly enough.

4k at 60 is good for most games. Sure, having 120 is always nice and better but many games doesn't benefit that much so I'd stick with 4k for those.

Competitive shooters, racing and fighting games are amazing at 120, though.

120 fps will make a bigger difference than resolution, but at the same time you cant be going too low with the resolution and the graphics settings.

If everything is at max settings then I would take 4k 60 vs 1080p 120. But at the same time I'm going to take 1440p 120 over 4k 60. Also 4k 120 if you have the hardware to push that.

1440p/120FPS for sure, I definitely believe that is the sweet spot.

There's a reason why everyone tells you to get rid of motion blur at that framerate, it is just a crutch that is not needed by then.

I'm limited to 1080p 120hz because my TV is a bit older. Jumped between 1080p120 and 4K60. Long story short, playing games with a controller, I think I'm good at 60fps. It's noticeable but not vital.

Different story using kb/m on my PC. Given my older GPU, I'll drop down resolution scaling from 1440p to hit higher frame rates.

Depends on the game...Single player games and racing games, I'll stick with 4K60fps.. (WRC9 didn't look good in 120fps.. and 60fps was fine in itself)

Fighting games, I think I would stick with 120fps when that is available.

FPS I have to see... I think it depends on the type....for COD Coldwar, I might need to try it again. I forgot which option I stuck with, I stopped playing a while ago.

Edit- this is on Console/PS5

120fps over everything else, for me.

I am a bit disappointed by the recent FPS BOOST games on XSX, though, because they're running really low rez X1 code rather than X1X.

So the current state of 120fps is too low rez even for me (though I'll still opt for that).
Hoping for midgen refresh to bring that up a fair bit.

My monitor is 1440p/144 and I prefer that over CB4k/60 or whatever PS5 does. Either is fine though... just no 30fps.
