Heres hoping Dan Ric can get that renault on the podium. Would love to see Gassly and Lecerc show up their teammates.
I'm hoping too. More hoping that Renault outdo RBR this season, that would sure as hell be a sight to see, even if neither team is in the running for WDC/WCC.

Edit: From that preseason analysis article:
Last year, Formula 1 was functionally divided into two competitive classes: F1 (Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull), and "F1.5" (everyone else). This year, it looks to me as though the gap between these classes has reduced, blurring the lines between them. Red Bull in particular may be under threat from teams in the upper midfield, although their pace was quite difficult to pin down due to Gasly's crash early into his race simulation, not to mention their need to experiment with a new powerunit.
Here's hoping!

I hope so too but want to keep my expectations at check. They have been steadily improving though.
I'm gonna go ahead with some predictions for constructors standings:
Battle for 1st: Mercedes / Ferrari
Battle for 3rd: RedBull / Renault
Battle for 5th: McLaren / Haas
Battle for 7th: Alfa Romeo / Racing Point / Toro Rosso
No chance for anything better than 10th: Williams

PS: I'm probably too optimistic for McLaren and Alfa Romeo, Hass could beat both of them but I wanted to go with a more wild guess.

PS2: Nah, I'm switching Alfa Romeo / Hass.

I think Haas will be stronger at the start of the year, similar to last year. Going off the Ferrari form in testing, Haas has a lot in common with them. I think Renault will initially be slower than them (not by much) but they will out develop the midfield to be quite strong at the end of the year and closer to the leaders. But any mistakes will cost a lot, and I think Renault has the much stronger driver line-up to make the difference. Should be good to watch.

Red Bull Brings forward F1 car update from China to Australian GP

Red Bull has fast-tracked an upgrade originally planned for the Chinese Grand Prix on to its car for this weekend's Formula 1 season opener in Australia.

Already bullish about its prospects for 2019 after a strong start to its relationship with new engine supplier Honda, Red Bull has worked flat-out since testing to get the updates ready early.

Red Bull's motorsport advisor Helmut Marko told the company's TV channel ServusTV that a "fully motivated" Adrian Newey had pulled out all the stops to get the new parts ready early.

"Parts that were planned for the third race were brought forward, thanks to all the pressure he could provide to get them onto the car for Melbourne," revealed Marko.

Marko said that Red Bull was full of confidence about the competitiveness of the RB15, which he reckoned was the "best" car his team had produced in some ways.

"Our optimism is not unfounded. I see us behind Ferrari over the race distance, but ahead of Mercedes," he said.

"The RB15 is certainly the best and most expensive car in the history of Red Bull Racing, if you take efficiency and the technical perfection of the parts.

"[It was only possible] because in every phase every employee was convinced: 'Now we are back on track. Now we have another chance to drive for victories on our own'."

Marko also hit back at cynics who suggested that too much has been made of Honda's progress.

He declared that the ambition was for Red Bull to win at least five races this year.

"There have been many negative voices saying that Honda can't do it. But we've never had such faultless test days," he said.

"If we have more horsepower, it's only logical that we have to look forward this year.

"Last year we had four victories. Five victories are realistic. I hope there will be even more."

I'm pretty excited to see where they stand. The race sims looked very good during testing.

Edit: Though it does make me wonder if these upgrades are in part because of what the Honda boss said when talking about the very tight packaging.

Aye, the analysis posted yesterday pointed towards the midfield being right there ready for them to slip up.
