Ferrari pit crew has traditional red outfits, but the car is clearly orange. Quite strange.

Tyre data for laptimes:

Seems SEB was on faster tyres but still a good gap.

Karun Chandhok noted that Merc and RB looked a lot heavier fuelled than the Ferrari.

Could be they've seen something on other cars that they feel they missed and have had to overhaul some important parts.

The new Pirelli tires are so shiny.
Or did they look like this in previous seasons as well and we just rarely see them at 0 km?

George Russell seems like a good lad. Was just interviewed with Alexander Albon, and was asked "any advice for Alex?", "yeah: turn one, turn two flat out, easy" lol

Happy to see that there have been no reliability issues with the Honda engine so far. Gives me some hope that Red Bull will at least be operating on last year's level.

Man, I think it's sweet of Alfa Romeo to honor Peter Sauber's legacy, but damn, that livery is a let down as I was hoping to see something new and fresh.

Color is changed for sure, look at this pic, it's probably the lighting / sun but the old car would never look like this

Am I crazy to like the looks of this car with all these antennas and other crap in it?

So all but the two Renaults lapped faster than the first day of 2018 testing here.

So much for the 1.5 seconds..

Besides Racing Point, and obviously Williams, it looks like every team got a lot of laps in. That's encouraging. Also, nice to see Ferrari's WCC confirmed, lol.

150 laps for Mercedes, pretty expected. No rush to set a fast time, need to check the stints.
Williams need to swallow their pride and accept being a Merc b-team, at least for a few seasons. Be to Mercedes what Haas are to Ferrari. Gain stability then work towards more independence.
That would be the only solution for the team, but there are rumors that Claire denied that way two years ago, when Mercedes proposed it.

So even though Sainz' time was on the softest tyres, they still finished today 0.8 slower than Alonso's Q3 time in qualifying from last year's Spanish GP.

Yeah I think that was Frank's stubbornness tbh. They need to accept that their legacy isn't going to pay the bills and rethink that decision.

I think their fear is that in going down that route would lead to a loss of talent in the areas for designing/manufacturing those parts which means getting back to doing it yourself isn't easy.

But, surely being not shit is of more importance. They could take from Merc what Haas take from Ferrari and challenge regularly for points.

That Ferrari color reminds me of my grandpa's old faded red Renault 4.

Williams are shambles. Hopefully they turn it around.
