It has moved from one side of the tree trunk to the other since this morning and it bounces back into place if you prod it.

I don't know what they are, but I've seen them on some of the trees where I live. Something squishy is under that twig-looking shell, as kid me once discovered when I squeezed one.

It's kind of squishy and it pops back into place after a few minutes if you detach it a bit. I'm trying to get a video now, but bear with me as the upload might take hours.

I fucking legitimately HATE seeing these. I alao vaguely recall a tiny version of that grabbing onto my finger once when I was a kid, and clinging to it.
And I feel dread remembering. Is.. Is this trauma?
