I know that jetpacks have made some progress but I didn't expect this. Him holding a rifle is pretty surreal.

or as Metro.co.uk puts it: France reveals terrifying armed soldier who flies above Paris on hoverboard
lol

More info on the board and pilot:
The flyboard is like a jetpack and is powered by gas turbines. According to Zapata, it can fly up to an altitude of 3,000 metres and reach 90mph. The man on board the flyboard was actually Franky Zapata, the CEO of Zapata, who admits his invention is very similar to the hoverboard used by Marty McFly in the Back to the Future films. Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, one of the key events of the French Revolution. The day has become a national holiday in France. This year some 4,300 soldiers, around 200 vehicles and over 100 aircraft, some from other European countries, took part in the parade.

It would be more terrifying if there were like 20 of them all in formation, then the one in front screamed "For Thanos!" and they all began to descend towards the crowd.

I zapped into it on TV right when this guy showed up. It was surreal. That whole parade is surreal. I know it's a french tradition but it still feels very wrong imo.

Trump is somewhere masturbating furiously to the thought of a parade like this....

Sorry for that mental image. :(
