Yeah, they’re not the same, but I won’t pretend a 32 year old man fucking a high schooler in junior year gives me the impression he cares much about consent.
Holy crap.
That and drugging someone are pretty different.Yeah, they’re not the same, but I won’t pretend a 32 year old man fucking a high schooler in junior year gives me the impression he cares much about consent.
Re-enactment of Luc Besson reacting to the news:Is this a saying or are we meant to believe that actually happened?
Yeah, its always been weird but its sad because Gary Oldman is SO FUCKING GOOD in that movie.
Oh, the poor movie! Hope it's alrightDisgusting. Way to ruin The Professional. Never looking at that movie the same way again.
Bingo. Where there is smoke, there isn't necessarily fire. But when someone comes running over the horizon from the direction of the smoke screaming fire, people have reason to listen. The list of directors that people would be surprised to hear this about is massive. Similar accusations against plenty of squeaky clean guys would be met with shock and doubt, and it's hardly the fault of the general public if someone has spent an entire lifetime cultivating the kind of presence that makes such accusations feel incredibly likely when placed in the context of the person.
That isn't "oh no, mob mentality" so much as people who act sketchy all the time being perceived as very sketchy.
Barf.Cracked article said:"How beautiful it is seeing them sweetly making love" is an actual line that the screenwriter wrote.
Serious story: I avoided seeing Leon: The Professional for most of my life because I for some reason assumed it was a movie with weird underage-sex undertones.Barf.
I had no idea this was originally in the movie, which used to be one of my all-time favourite movies. Now I wanna throw up. Besson is so disgusting.
Luc Besson didn't make Onimusha 3, why would you not play that game because of him? Jean Reno and Luc Besson are different people.I thought he was already outed for being a creep bc he married a 15-year old and Leon?? I can't remember what brought it up but I remember thinking I wouldn't watch Leon or play Onimusha 3 ever again...
Oh my bad. I obviously am unlearned about the two men. Even if these allegations didn't come out, I wasn't planning on watching Leon again, and I've never played Onimusha 3 I was just making a poorly researched joke.Luc Besson didn't make Onimusha 3, why would you not play that game because of him? Jean Reno and Luc Besson are different people.
And "creep" is one thing. Actual rapist is something entirely different. We all knew Besson was a creep, but this is WAY beyond that.
I remeber saying how I preferred the Professional above Leon because the cut scenes seemed creepy to me. I was called out for having a dirty mind, but when I finally saw this I knew my warning bells weren't there for no reason.
Yeah I agree with you, dating a 15 years girl when you're 30+ is creepy as hell. It’s harder to give him the benefit of the doubt when you consider he impregnated a 15yo when he was 32, and with the creepy undertones of Leon in mind.
(Maïwenn happens to be a pretty good director btw)
That scene in the screenplay excerpt above was never filmed. In the uncut, filmed version of the movie, Mathilda tries to seduce Léon but he refuses her. I always interpreted that scene as the young girl not knowing what she was doing and Léon doing the right thing by her. It was a disturbing scene, but not actually awful, you know? But then it turns out, he actually intended to have Léon sleep with (i.e. rape) her and frame it as "sweet, beautiful lovemaking". And add to this how he married a 15 year old girl and, well, this is one case where I certainly can't separate the art from the artist anymore. It's more than enough to ruin the movie for me.I remeber saying how I preferred the Professional above Leon because the cut scenes seemed creepy to me. I was called out for having a dirty mind, but when I finally saw this I knew my warning bells weren't there for no reason.
Yep, art is what it is its not like Portman filmed a sex scene, or that if she did it would have been real.I have known about Leon for years, but I can't not like it, it's too good.
Nah, I can't watch films made by sick fucks like this guyYep, art is what it is its not like Portman filmed a sex scene, or that if she did it would have been real.
How many films depict underage sex, murder, rape and more?
His past is shady but hanging him now seems premature.
If he gets arrested and charged then fuck the dude.
But for now like someone else said it's trial by social media.
As much as the law matters, I'd rather not get into a relationship where a prosecutor has discretion as to whether or not to pursue charges. While there is definitely merit to what you’re saying... when it comes to actual crimes the law most certainly does matter.
I didn't interpret you post as a defense, I just was adding onto it, saying that it's never a good look to be in that situation. Like, you never want to be pulled over by a cop when you've had two glasses of wine with dinner over a two hour period. You can pass a sobriety test, but an officer can still say they smelled alcohol and that you were swerving and they can still arrest you. Even if the charges get dropped, it's still in that sphere of being in they grey that no one wants to be in.My bad, that wasn't my intent to sound like I'm defending this.
Most people were on Leto for the <18 year olds he was alleged to have sexual involvement with during his tours with his band.People got offended by Leto sexting 18 year olds, so the line seems to be a personal thing for a lot of people. Imo 15 is way to young, whatever the law actually allows - just don't fuck 15 year olds where you are 30+, its not that hard.
You feel dirty?
I just don't have that, at all. If Ted Bundy had made a film and I liked it on its own merits, I would still watch it now.
Yes, but just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. It's weird, but age of consent in Europe for the most part is around that age.
I don't think that is always the case, as there are so called " Romeo and Juliet" laws in place for that instance specifically. What people don't seem to keep in mind when they bring up what's "legal" is that these laws are mostly there so that young people can legally have sex with other young people without one of them going to jail; not so that someone twice or triple a girl's age can have sex with her. That's largely a byproduct.
I mean all the signs were their weren’t they? Isn’t there an European version and an America. Version?
