Did something happen in france that made all the racists not care? Between this and those two French scientists saying they should test corona vaccines on Africans, racists have gotten pretty bold.
Hm, the fact that those two things happened at the same time is pretty much a coincidence. Broadly speaking though, the country has been moving to the right, as illustrated by the 2017 presidential election, our sitting president, and the implosion of the Socialist Party (which hasn't been socialist/left-wing for a while anyway, kinda like the US Dems, but still). Our version of the 'true' left right now is interesting in some respects, but also pretty iffy in others. Mélenchon looks like our version of Bernie Sanders on the surface (and in some cases, it's an apt comparison I think), but he's much more controversial, and there are some takes from him that I think are pretty bad. He flirts a bit too easily with the idea of leaving the EU for instance. I understand the reasoning - the EU is
far from perfect -, but I don't think it's a wise idea at this point in time, and it's better to see if we can fix it and improve it IMO.
As for the corona shit, let's just say France isn't the best when it comes to medicine. Homeopathy is covered under healthcare for instance. That should give you an idea of where we're at.
