Because it's a rather French specific thing, outside of twitter I can only find articles in French.
This kinds of sum up the situation well.

There's articles pretty much everywhere if you understand French.
People from Libération, Slate, les Inroks and more are implicated.

A non insignificant number of leftwing publication have these people as part of the permanent staff, even editor in chief (for Slate.fr for example)
e: digging a little the director of the publication Voici was part of it alledgedly.

Here's an article from lemonde about this whole thing
https://www.lemonde.fr/pixels/artic...ique-sur-la-ligue-du-lol_5421698_4408996.html
google translated here

articles in English
Paper in English from the BBC : https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-47206248
France 24 : https://www.france24.com/en/2019021...ale-journalists-rocks-france-media-league-lol
and Buzzfeed : https://www.buzzfeednews.com/articl...ague-france-harassment-women-lgbt-journalists

I didn't know everyone involved but yeah, Vincent Glad and Alexandre Hervaud are quite famous in the world of French digital journalism. And I probably can feel ashamed too because I used to follow an account that was quite explicit about harassing Capucine Piot...
A lot of scrubbing is happening on French twitter right now.
Just claim it's done for the lol if old.

Bien, ça imposera un petit peu de respect dans la sphère com' parisienne. J'ai eu des collègues à l'époque qui se pensaient intouchables, ça doit pas mal flipper que des vieux log de conversations nauséabondes remontent à la surface.

Our own french version of Tech Bros getting some heat right now. Interesting week ahead.

From the country that brought you Luc Besson and Dominique Strauss-Kahn...
It's actually deeper and more insidious than DSK.
DSK had handlers who would get prostitutes for him to "have fun" with.
But aside from making sure no journalist or woman politician was ever left alone with him, that was it.

This is a group that used its influence to harass, "prank", abuse and discriminate.
Journalists in position of power are among them and they most certainly discriminated against women, minorities or people they deemed unworthy.
This is much much worse than the rapist of the Sofitel.
As it affected far more people.

Just saw that yesterday. What a bunch of scumbags.
And looking at the list of publications... Yeah, I'm not surprised.
The Parisian "elite" proving how enlightened they are once again.

French twitter is turning into a bloodbath right now. Everyone is accusing everyone of having harassed other people at some point, or knowing about it but not telling. And a bunch of users are taking advantage of the situation to settle the score with people they have grudges with.

Wow.... why the fuck? They just did it for laughs in the beginning???
People can be so disappointingly evil.

I'm not surprised. Bullying and harassment is very present in France workspace. But because we have a kind of a "taboo" culture. Many of those things are never known and stay behind closed doors. I guess harassment is transitioning into the cyberspace. What a shame !

I was absolutely shocked by the type of comments you could get in France in your work environment at times. And as a minority and I can say I've been victim of it. But it was maybe worse for women... I can tell you that.

I remember working in an IT American company in Paris where the French country manager was "notorious" for being a sexual predator and a racist from previous companies where he was fired ( the IT world is very small... ) for those very reasons. Yet, he was hired... Over 2 years at least 7 women - mostly receptionists - resigned because of his behavior. But after several investigations ( for sexual harassment and racism ), he was fired when the stories came to the ears of the US. Nothing happened as long as it was dealt by the HR in France...

Happy this story came out. We really need to do something about in in France. Those behaviors are far more present than you would think...

I loved watching Alexandre Hervaud in the now defunct tv show Écran.fr on Nolife. I'm deeply shocked he is an unrepentant harasser.
They made a woman believe she might have aids after she slept with one of them and sent children a pornographic montage involving a man one of them had a grudge with because of petty romantic jealousy.

The most hillarious thing is that most of these assholes then tried to pass as progressive and feminists. It's not really surprising since many male feminists turn out to be assholes with women but still.

Thanks, I'll add to the OP.
Ouch. That it's mostly from Libération and Slate is not looking good for "male feminists".
Les Inroks are also part of this and are equally trying to push the angle of "male feminists" as the other 2 if not even more so.

Ligue Du Lol sounds like a terrible name that a french 12 years old kid would create after discovering the f or n word in an xbox live game

Might have something to do with the fact that there's an unspoken rule among French journalists about criticizing those who work for their competitors.

Never trust mens that say they are feminist...

Everyone involved must lose their job and their "journalist" reputation. I would not be surprised if many of them end in far-right publications after this.

This is reaching international news in quite some way
https://venturebeat.com/2019/02/12/...ok-and-twitter-to-harass-female-counterparts/
victim testimony said:
For many years on Twitter, me and other feminist girlfriends, we were the target of these little Parisian guys who did not care about us … I was fat, so I did not have the right to speak.
One day, I had the misfortune to create a fundraiser for my birthday, to buy me a scooter. This was not public, but they managed to find it, to take it over by insisting that a fat woman a scooter was very funny. Then my phone number was put on Leboncoin (the French Craigslist), with a scooter sales ad. People were calling me and wondering if I was selling my scooter, calling me 'Madame fat', the name in the ad.
One day, one of the members of this league took a porn picture of a fat, blonde girlfriend who could vaguely resemble me and started spreading the image on Twitter, saying that he had found my sextape.

This is basically the French Gamergate, except actually more organized in terms of harassment. Absolutely awful.

Odds on there being an American equivalent in journalism.

I imagine a few people are squirming in some DC coffee shops right about now.
There's probably no real need for that in the US because the journalism world is so much bigger there.
And also you had journalists pushing Milo of all people so yeah same shit, different priorities.
