Don't wait any longer. Go on and treat yourself. It IS the pivotal dark fantasy manga! Don't let the idea of the story not being finished keep you from experiencing this. Even if you just get to read the first arc "golden" you will understand it's not just hype. It's truly an amazing experience.

I wonder if people who have read the published books have the ending still open in their headcanon or just substituted it with the show's ending until (if) G.R.R.M finishes the story himself.

I mean we all pretty much know it's not going to be there at this point... maybe we'll see it somewhere else, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't appear until TGA or so...
On the other hand I'm still fairly excited about E3 and the other gaming events in the Summer so I'm not that bummed out.

I don't get it at this point lol, if the game is apparently less than a year away it's a bizarre decision to not be at E3 but whatever. I'm not convinced it'll make it out by the end of March next year and had assumed it wouldn't be at E3 either. Got plenty of other games to be excited about at E3 in the meantime.

Yeah this is my gut feeling as well.
People would ask and pester Geoff every year regarding Elden Ring and he also hinted at some 'long time coming' reveals as well for this year's summer game fest. Iam guessing that June 10th is when we'll see if its not gamescom.

I don't think Geoff's summer game fest has the clout like the game awards do. If they had something during that time I would almost guarantee Microsoft would be the ones to secure a trailer like they did with the reveal. Or some other big player.
