I keep joining the discord only to leave because I don't have anything to post and because loading up my discord alt account is a hassle.
Though based on my IRL friends' recent discord jokes, it seems like most of them are also furries. So that's interesting.

Charizard People were giving you shit for being polite to the roleplayers in that creepy asterisks thread but I think it's commendable. RP'ing isn't for me but I think it's a mostly harmless thing. People have tried to flirt with me like that in the past and I either freeze up and block them or let them know I'm not interested in a much less nice way than you did.

....Though tbh I do that more because telling these guys "No" often results in them having meltdowns and shit. So i try to be subtle but just ghost them if they don't get the hint. Even ghosting doesn't always work for long though, riiiipppp

I figured there'd be a problem with zoophiles in this fandom, but other than the fact that a lot of y'all are transparently thirsty for animal dick -- albeit one on an otherwise human body -- that was actually pretty rare.
No, the real issue, one I can no longer ignore, is the blatant and unsettlingly common sexualization of either ambiguously or explicitly child-coded characters. It's the same shit the weebs do. Y'all draw characters that have the body of a young teen but apparently just calling them a "twink" or a "femboy" excuses that? You draw one character that's obviously an adult fucking one that really isn't, and you just call that "size difference"? It's not hard to draw characters that look like adults. This is an intentional thing. I don't think the majority of furry art is like this, but a lot of it is, to the extend that if I unfollowed any artists that had ever drawn anything problematic, I don't think I'd have any artists left. And I think that's what I'm going to do. And when you find the alt accounts and especially the alt alt accounts, even artists you respect start to seem pretty fucking gross. At first I was naive; I thought there were just bad artists that drew problematic things and that was it. But in fact, it's more like most artists eventually stop caring about anything as long as it pays. There are even today furry artists that have drawn blatant child porn and are not only still extremely popular, but have a lot of people defending them. And that's not even talking about the amount of sexual predators in this fandom. When I first started being a furry I was a teenager myself I just ignored all this, but as I've gotten older my standards have gotten higher and I don't want to participate in this fandom any more.
I know I said I didn't post in the discord because I didn't have anything to contribute, but not having anything to contribute has never stopped me from posting before. The real reason is because I can still remember the FurryGAF discord. I joined it once; literally the first thing I see is someone posting shota pics. When people complain that this kind of thing is why they are losing members, they just say "Keep calm and be a shotacon!" so I leave. And when I joined the FurryERA discord, what did I see? That person is not only a member, but one of the admins. So I have no reason to think the FurryERA discord won't be fucking gross too.
So anyway, goodbye.

I was going to apologize for a few bad apples that have ruined your experience (especially since there are many of us who speak out against the sort of stuff you listed), but from your post it sounds like you already entered the fandom expecting the worst. But to paint most of the artists in the fandom this way is just false. There are plenty of good, friendly people here that are worth your time, if you just bother to look.
won't disagree with you that there are predators in the fandom much like there are all over the place in all walks of life and that maybe it is more pronounced in a fandom with such a sexual bent. people should be quick to call out those who are abusing children and vulnerable people. they are all too frequent. please don't accept them in the community and out them if you can

Leaving Chattanooga now. Anthro Southeast was a hell of a lot of fun. The city is really nice, and the hotel was great. There were 605 attendees, which really surprises me since this was its first year.

Giving this thread a little bump.
Finished reading Omaha weeks ago. Awesome drama-romance comic. Very well written and sex scenes are not gratuitous and have sense. My only complain is the feeling that some secondary story arcs were rushed to be finished while the main one was perfectly closed.
And right now i'm with Beastars. Discovered the Manga when announced that the author was going to be in the Barcelona Manga event, Finished first 2 volumes and volume 3 just arrived to Spain a few weeks ago. I'll get it while I'm in Madrid. For now i really like it: nice characters and excellent drawing.

Honestly you shouldn't feel bad at all. Your artwork is amazing to the level that I would commission you in a heartbeat at a con or otherwise. I'm patient enough to wait for my art and your style is distinctive and good in my opinion.
You have nothing to be worried about IMO, keep working at it and you will only get better for sure.
