so there is this weird thing that gamers are reporting premium snaps to the irs for audting

( prem snaps are essentially cam girls )

it's become a rallying cry for gamers over twitter . and it's just lame and embarrassing when you think about the motivation ( the act in itself is no biggie ) , but the motivation and the cheering going on is......... so lame

Gamer dudebros are reporting camgirls to the IRS for tax evasion on the money they make from snapchat premium.

So is it like, working? Are they being taxed on those things if this IRS entity decides to look at them. I don't have much idea about how this works over there in the US.

For those who need context:
People are reporting sex workers to the IRS for unreported income they are earning through Snapchat.

Punish the symptom (cam girls, prostitutes, porn stars) and not the root (huge inequality between sexes and offensive views towards women), as always.

I wanna pretend to be surprised at half the posts here brushing this off, but I really can't. Way too many people here who just like to ask questions and wait to hear both sides of the story amiright

Basically the IRS is the agency responsible for taxation collecting of all US citizens. No matter where it's from, any income earned needs to be reported to the IRS. Al Capone, one of the most famous gangsters of all time, didn't go down in a hail of bullets - he got hit up by the IRS for tax evasion. They don't play around with people misleading their income.

How is it "brushing off" if ppl are asking for where it says that it's "gamers" doing this? Asking for clarification should be okay?

I get the general gist, but I am confused by exactly how they are doing it. Premium snaps?
Adult performers sell 'subscriptions' to get private snapchat exchanges. Unfortunately it's very hard to collect payment for this legally so they take risks and use things like PayPal, which has stone-age regulations against exchanging money for nudes, etc. and will not only suspend your account if they think you're getting money for your nudes, but will just take the money and offer zero recourse to claim it.
/pol/ and /r9k/ have decided out of nowhere to raid these (almost entirely female) performers social media accounts and report them to paypal/the IRS/etc to cut them off from their sources of income.
because reasons.

Well that's just being shitty.

On one side, I mean probably should pay taxes but don't narc on people. That's just being a dick. Let the snap girls do what they want. Better make sure their favorite twitch streamers are on the up and up with the IRS too

I see absolutely nothing in the OP's picture that has any ties to gaming/gamers

Can someone please explain how is this "gamer" related? I've seen the tweet but I think i'm missing something important.

Purely out of curiosity, how is this issue of cam girls related to what you just said?
