After a decent amount of searching, I found a GoT thread! The long wait is here, and it's a bit chilly. We got any heated blankets around here?

Man, thinking about it, this show will come to partly define the pop culture of the 2010's. 2011-19 is a hell of a run. It will be talked-about for decades, whether prequel spinoff stuff enhances or diminishes the franchise in the eyes of the fans.

I'm going to be 60 years old in 2047 and some kid is going to catch a rerun somewhere in his aug piece and be like, "heh, wow, this show is dated as hell but I can see why it worked for you."

Who is that kid? I'll beat him up in virtual reality and take his lunch credits.

I don't know what will happen to this franchise in the future, but man, it would be awesome if in like 25 years from now a new series started and Kit, Emilia, Isaac, and some of the other actors reprized their roles. Just like Mark Hamil, ford, fisher, etc, in Star wars.

I feel Dany or Jon has to die by the end, that's almost a given, so I'd actually be more surprised if none of them die. Also, if one has to die, let it be Jon but with Dany preggos. The Targaryens must rise again.

I dont see either of them dying. Especially with Beric and Melisendre still alive to bring them back. I think D&D would be eaten alive by the casual fans if they end up killing them off at the end. I think they are both just over this show and want to go out in the safest way possible. Plus it makes little sense to kill them off.

Beric can't revive, you're thinking of Thoros, and he's dead.

There's no way Melisandre revives anyone, they killed off Thoros so his hacks couldn't be used again.

I never got to post about this, but for those who care, I'm sorry about what I did in the other place.

Second, this season ended up being terrible. Jeremy Pondeswa is a terrible director and I'm so glad Sapochnik is back for season 8.

I thought it was a very good season that could of been great, but the obvious issue was that it was rushed. Should of been 10 episodes. I thought the season was really fun though. I too am not the biggest fan of Pondeswa.

The Viserion episode broke my brain with how many terrible things happened in it, and Littlefinger's death was probably the show's writing nadir.

That whole episode going beyond the wall should of just been focused on Jon/ Dany. The whole Littlefinger stuff should of been its own episode. Those winterfell scenes just dragged the whole episode down. And what makes it worse was scenes were cut, including a Bran and Sansa conversation. At the very least this season could of been 8 ep's and it would of made a world of difference.

I don't really wasn't to start this discussion again, but Season 7 was their worst and this show is only good for the spectacle now since Cersei litterally blew up the polical part.
I'll avatar bet you they will!
Jon and Dany are so dead. There's a reason Tyrion brought up what happens if she dies and can't give heirs. I'm not sure of Bran, but I can't think of a reason he survives since he's ultra-conveniently powerful.

Dany is going to get killed by the Night King but not before having Jon's miracle baby.

We're continuing our rewatch of one GoT episode per week. We usually watch on Sundays but we watched this week's episode Thursday so we could do Stranger Things S2 on Sunday. Still fucking love this first season. It's still good even after the 5 or 6 times I've watched it. Next episode Ned loses his head. That should be fun to relive yet again.

Season 1 is still the best season.

I dont want to post things I cant say, cause I already did it and it's against the rules, but Jon and Dany are going to live. Rewatch the show and you'll see the whole story has been building up to these two. The writers aren't going to throw away all that development just for the shock value of one of them dying (they already did it once with Jon). The whole heir thing was just basically foreshadowing that she's gonna get pregnant by Jon. She says like a million times through the season " I cahnt havv childruuun!". Well she can and will. If anything, Tyrion is gonna end up dying, along with his brother and sister, completely wiping out the Lannisters.

I also think both Dany and Jon will reject the throne when it's all said and done. Jon wont want it and Dany will probably end up choosing family over power. This was basically hinted at in the vision of the undying. They just gonna make babies at Dragonstone and there will be no one ruling Westros.

Yea!! I'm so happy to see everyone back in one spot!

It will be tough. I will do my best to keep discussions going. Also you can always rewatch the series like I'm doing. One episode per week. I'm following the reddit schedule. It's making the wait MUCH easier. Now then:

Day 62 without GoT:
Brand new Special message from the Mother of Dragons herself !

https://twitter.com/SusanCalman/status/924165852487876609

Gonna miss Emilia Clarke as Daenerys :( Also this confirms she's gonna use a wig this season and not go with her natural hair, like some speculated when she dyed it.

Did she record this on an early 2000s flip phone? Come on Khaleesi, HD not potato quality.

Also, if they ever kill Dany and/or Arya I'm out. Cold turkey right there and then.

I'm quite fine with Season 7 for the most part. It has some weird wrinkles (the Arya/Sansa story in particular is very uneven) but I'll likely keep it somewhere around the middle of the pack like I predicted once I get to it on the rewatch. I agree that it would have been better with 10 episodes but I try not to dwell. Not least of which because it helps me cope and not be petrified over the fact that Season 8 will be 6 episodes.

Also, it's Podeswa, not Pondeswa. I'm being picky for no real reason, I know. Insert Stannis joke here.

For me Season 7 was bottom of the barrel writing. The spectacle was amazing and props to the teams for pulling off some of that stuff, but good god it has slid downhill from what it was. The main thing that makes me angry is the things that don't make any goddamned sense aren't even that hard to fix. It's like they just don't care. And that's hard to believe, but I witnessed it, so...

Really hoping 8 pulls things back up for the finale. I don't need it to be as good as the best of the best, just give a satisfying ending and don't go completely nuts like Beyond the Wall. That was by far the low point in the series.

This is what bothered me most the with season, they could have easily avoided the issues. It's still great and I don't even think it's so bad that it ruins it, especially if you can forgive the blunders, because it still is entertaining.

But we all saw this coming once they moved past direct source. To be honest I was expecting 6 and 7 to be a lot worse considering how much worse 5 is compared to the first 4 seasons.

The Targaryens need to go to break the wheel, since they were the ones that made it

Taking a shortcut through another department I noticed a girl with a Weirwood Tree and "The Old Gods Hear You" for laptop screen saver. If I wasn't rushing back from lunch I might've stopped to spread the word of the True God

I'm bad with accents and more so with ones from the UK. I would have never guessed these accents were from different places.
