Rules
1. Please absolutely no links, discussions, or requests to pirate downloads or illegal streams.

2. Please no spoilers or leaks from future episodes in here. There is a dedicated spoiler thread where you can freely discuss any leaks, spoilers, or endgame theories. -->Spoiler Thread link<--

3. If you see an open spoiler or pirate link please report it using the Report function at the bottom of a post and write the corresponding Reason. Please do not quote a spoiler or pirate link.

4. Any previously released book or show detail is perfectly fine to discuss openly. HBO released promotional materials and episode previews are fair game once officially released. Episodes after 9PM EDT seem to be fair game as well.

5. Use your own discretion on whether something will ruin the experience of others.
IE Downloading the VOD at 9PM, skipping to the end, and talking about the ending to TV watchers who just started watching the HBO broadcast.
If you think some detail might ruin the experience of another resetera reader, please err on the side of caution and use the Spoiler function in this thread or simply use the Spoiler thread where everybody knows what to expect.

6. If you are posting a YouTube video watch it first and check if it has a spoiler preview image or spoiler/theory contents.

7. Sit back and enjoy the ride, the show will not be exactly the way the books end if they ever come out, but it will be an ending to complain about because you are most definitely not getting the ending you want. Subverting conventional story tropes and shocking the audience are staples of the series so prepare yourself for anything and everything.

Prophecies
The book and the show prophecies are slightly different but it is unknown if any of them will play out as some have been technically wrong and expect time manipulation or as-of-yet unknown facts to mold the vague parameters
I guess these were all inconsequential.

1. Dany's visions in the House of the Undying (2.10)
https://gameofthrones.fandom.com/wiki/House_of_the_Undying
The book version is quite extensive. In the show Dany sees herself in the charred remains of the Red Keep with snow or ash and meets her dead son and husband.

"In the books the warlocks foretell her prophecy in a riddle of 3's:
Three fires must you light, one for life and one for death and one to love.
Three mounts must you ride, one to bed and one to dread and one to love.
Three treasons will you know, once for blood and once for gold and once for love."

2. Maggy's Prophecy to Cersei aka Valonqar prophecy (5.1)
https://gameofthrones.fandom.com/wiki/Maggy
As a girl Cersei went to the wood's witch Maggy who drank her blood and answered 3 of her questions
When will I marry the prince?
Will I be queen?
Will the King and I have children?

The books carry a final verse which is not mentioned in the show
"Three [children] for you. Gold shall be their crowns and gold their [funeral] shrouds…and when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

Valonqar translates to younger brother, so literally anyone with a older sibling is fair game to be the aforementioned strangler.

3. Azor Ahai aka Lightbringer Prophecy and The Prince/Princess that was Promised
https://gameofthrones.fandom.com/wiki/Azor_Ahai
https://gameofthrones.fandom.com/wiki/The_Prince_That_Was_Promised

"According to prophecy, our champion will be reborn to wake dragons from stone and reforge the great sword Lightbringer that defeated the darkness those thousands of years ago. If the old tales are true, a terrible weapon forged with a loving wife's heart. Part of me thinks man was well rid of it, but great power requires great sacrifice. That much at least the Lord of Light is clear on."
"There will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. And that sword shall be Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes, and he who clasps it shall be Azor Ahai come again, and the darkness shall flee before him."

This all leads to some kind of sacrifice theory because the hero from one thousand years ago needed to kill his loving wife, Nissa Nissa, to activate the sword.

Loose Ends
Loose ends are a collection of unresolved things many fans want to see given a proper conclusion, even if they don't have any bearing on the plot.
Probably only the Bowl was of note.

1. Clegane Bowl is the battle between the Clegane brothers. Two of the best fighters in the realm and siblings to boot. This is an event that almost every fan is waiting for and was even hinted at in the final episode of last season. This could be the battle that tops Mountain vs Viper.

2. Arya has a list of names that she whispers before sleeping to focus herself on her vengeance. The only names remaining are Cersei, Melisandre, the Hound, the Mountain, and Ilyn Payne. She actively choose to spare the Hound and if Clegane Bowl happens she might miss another name assuming one of the brothers kills the other. EDIT: So apparently the actor for Ilyn had cancer and is recovering and in episode 8.2 Arya amended her list removing Beric from it.

3. Tyrion has been spent seasons trying to finish a joke about a honeycomb and a jackass.

4. Macumber, the blue eyed giant who's eyes are the sky, has been referenced twice in the show, but not in the books.

5. The location of Tyrion's first love Tysha. This is a bigger deal in the books, but in the show her whereabouts are a mystery as well.

Theories
There are thousands of theories on reddit and the internet, here are a few that are popular.
Nope the Internet was all wrong.

1. Tyrion is a secret Targaryan
This is a long-rumored theory that Tyrion's mother was raped by the Mad King and sort of confirmed when the dragons seem to be interested in him.

2. Ragnarok
http://gameofthronesandnorsemythology.blogspot.com/2013/05/ragnarok-song-of-ice-fire.html
An excellent theory where the Norse version of Ragnarok mirrors the story

3. Littlefinger/Syrio Forel is a Faceless Man
Both these characters seem to have died such weak deaths. If they were Faceless Men in disguise they could still be alive and able to participate in the end game.

4. Meera Reed is Jon Snow's twin
A long held theory since Meera's father was with Ned at the Tower of Joy and Meera's curly hair and face are quite similar to Jon's. Meera has gone home after traveling with Bran.

5. Bran is the Night King/Bran the Builder and can manipulate time
This is a popular theory that Bran has somehow warged or communicated with various important people through history with his ability to greensee and access Weirwood tree memories.

6. Every Targaryen has an egg
This is a lesser known theory, but does give an explanation to the fact that Winterfell's walls are heated during winter. Something is heating the hot springs beneath Winterfell. Perhaps there are dragons or dragon eggs in the crypt, or even Others or the Great Other.

Geographical Locations of Importance
Based on past books and episodes I have compiled a list of locations I think may play a role in the final season.

1. Winterfell
Something is definitely happening at Winterfell and specifically in the crypts of Winterfell.

2. King's Landing
Cersei is in King's Landing. We have also seen one of Bran's visions of a dragon flying over the city.

3. The Land of Always Winter
Located in the furthest north, my guess would be that we will get more information about who the Night King is or what happens to all the male babies that Craster offered up to the Whitewalkers.

4. Isle of Faces near Harrenhall
Located well south of Winterfell but north of King's Landing, my guess is this island is significant as it the place where everything started between the First Men, the Children of the Forest and the White Walkers.

The cycle begins anew.

Cersei one dimensional?

u wot m8

I'm referring to her character at the moment (or, more accurately, her character since the start of Season 7). There's nothing to her now outside of 'mad queen', and I really don't expect the writers to suddenly bring back the more sympathetic side she had in the previous seasons.
I mean, they didn't even get cool moments. They were pinned and swarmed by zombies and somehow living anyway.

Yeah, exactly. It felt like they failed to even leverage the schlockiness of having so many characters survive. I wouldn't have been mad if they had just went full 'Avengers' and had everyone team up in a big tracking shot.

Thread title is lame. "Arya Ready for the Endgame?" would have been infinitely better

Morrigan make it happen.

EDIT: Shit its your own suggestion. I mean "I love the thread title. Its great........"

As soon as Arya talked to the Red Queen and she said "and blue eyes" or whatever I said to my wife "Arya kills the night king".. and then right before she showed up I knew she was coming.

Was it not rather obvious to everyone else?

OP:
I think what's worth pointing out as well for the list of Arya is that the actor who portrayed Ilyn Payne (Wilko Johnson) has been battling cancer, so it's not very likely he will return to the show.

Man some of the WW effects were fucking wicked to see (the almost World War Z-esque pile-ups and the way they completely overtake Drogon).

There are a LOT of incredibly impressive small moments, shots and effects in this entire episode. It really is one of the most impressive TV episodes ever put together, story/character preferences being irrelevant.

I actually thought Drogon had decapitated Viserion though in the sky before seeing him later on trying to get Jon in the courtyard. I was a bit confused at first thinking one of the other dragons were turned.

Pretty sure everybody saw it coming the second this conversation took place. The people who didn't were maybe holding on to some hope that D&D would have some final trick up their sleeve, but they were telegraphing it hard this episode.

Why people were saying they didn't see it coming was because outside of this episode and if you're generous the previous two episodes, it wasn't foreshadowed at all. In fact, Arya wasn't even involved in this plotline at all.

I thought the same with Drogon. Was just a bit confusing.

I'm quite surprised to be able to last the whole work day without being spoiled, apologies to those that did.

That was quite the episode.

The audience due to literally every shot of a character showing them at the moment where they're gonna die with no dialogue and somber music expecting Jon to get up and kill the dragon and save Bran:

It's obvious in hindsight but in the moment it's as the director said, the "everyone's fucked" moment. Suspense that could only be earned by somthing like GoT which has conditioned it's audience to always expect the worst.

Oh shit, cancer irl.

Yeah I think I'll remove that since Arya basically amended her list on the fly with Beric anyways

Theon and Lyanna Mormont fighting ability is way too low after last episode. Theon managed to fight against hordes of undead and only lost because he kicked too much ass and was left without arrows. Lyanna managed to kill a giant that was 10 times her size which also was undead, and he defeated him, that was more impressive than other characters and that thread who has a higher fighting stat

For me, it was the best battle that I have seen in the series. Plot armour be damned, this was pure adrenaline and anxiety for every second that I was watching. I also was pleased to see how The Night King ended and even more pleased to see who ended up getting the kill.

In retrospect, Arya was literally trained for that exact scenario. Her water-walking and faceless assassin training was tailor made for that exact moment.
Arya also ended up being the embodiment of Azhor Ahai (imo) and the actual prophecy was not gender specific. Remember when Missandei said that the actual meaning was "The prince or princess who was promised will bring the dawn"? I loved the episode and am glad that it ended exactly how it did!!

It was mega obvious and I've been saying this repeatedly but no one listens to me apparently *glares at Coyote Starrk*
At the very least she was going to be doing some White Walker killing; that much was obvious... they telegraphed the blue eyes thing and just in general with the Red Witch "prophesying."

Whether she'd actually end up killing the NK wasn't quite as obvious right away but once they showed Jon struggling so badly I knew it was going to be her since she'd been off screen so long.
