Gameinformer: God Of War's Developers On Finally Finishing The Game

Why doesn't the interviewer ask them about the release date? He's throwing way too many softballs, and there's no new footage at all and we've learned pretty much nothing. This may be the most uninformative cover story they've ever ran. I would have preferred an IGN First on God of War instead of this.
Seems like the game has been pretty much done for a while. Now all thats left is polishing and a few balacing tweaks. I'm confident in a March release again. The game must trully be huge.
Also, interesting info about creating a new engine while developing the game at the same time. I wonder if this engine will be useful or will they have to toss it alway for next gen. I imagine they are probably not releasing anything else for the ps4 since we only have a couple more years with before the ps5.

I've actually enjoyed the interviews, they've been pretty insightful towards the thinking behind creative decisions and its made me nothing but hyped.
Perhaps they were told from the getgo that they aren't getting a release date from SSM?
The only reason I can think of for them not showing anything about the game is that maybe they are not where they want yet visually. Maybe still figuring out color balancing, post processing effects or something like that lol. It doesnt really make sense not show nothing new if we are this close to a release and the game mechanics are finished. I dont know, maybe someone experienced with game dev could shed a light on this.
Quite frankly i'm speechless every time i see an update on this game from GI.
All of GI's pieces are orchestrated. These are not 'on the fly' sit down interviews. It's more than obvious GI and Cory/SSM are only going to talk about approved topics.
Next update is on Monday, maybe we'll get it then but this is ridiculous. There's even a $150 collector's edition to pre-order yet no release date.
I'm like avoided everything they posted because I don't want to get hyped yet if the game is going to come in June or something. Release date or trailer or I don't care. >:(
GOW3 release date was revealed in January and came out in March so it is possible
I think they're keeping with tradition, which with Cory Barlog might be a form of trolling hehe

What? It's January. When do you expect to see a marketing campaign. Most big games turn it out 2-3 weeks before release.
Really dig the interview and considering it was done back in December after PSX...they're likely done and gone gold or about to.

Still at that point we had already seen a lot of stuff for GOW and even play a demo .
Think that is what throwing people off since not much of the game how been showed off.

Sony's marketing is a big mess. Why bother to annouce a game 2 years before the release when you don't want to show any footage in the meantime? They really need to rethink this or just annouce their games earlier.
It people haven't realized by now Game Informer probably got the deal to reveal the date at the end of this spotlight.
Not impressed with the marketing of this game so far. Show gameplay preferably a mini-boss fight and ramp up the hype.
