Shenmue III is talked about in the latest GameInformer roundtable at 40:10. A lot of it is discussed in the print article but I took down some key points. Includes some game details that were already reported but some fun tidbits.

    - They played the first area and a later area of the game for around 1 hour 30 minutes total. In the written article the latter is described as 40% in to the game.
    - Yu Suzuki said don't play the highest difficulty to them and warned against it (very brutal, gambling ratios changed) "it's a nightmare" said Yu Suzuki.
    - Multiple paths to the goal that influence the world is what Yu Suzuki prides himself on. That's what he thinks makes Shenmue "open world".
    - This feels like Shenmue, if you're a big fan of the series this is what you want.
    - Yu Suzuki's answer in the rapid fire Q&A when asked if it will hit the release date was "probably". They couldn't tell if this was tongue in cheek or not.
    - Yu Suzuki seemed very happy at the studio and proud of the work he's done. Everything about the game goes through Yu Suzuki and the game is his baby.
    - GameInformer have videos and images of Yu Suzuki's original notebooks for the game. Will be coming soon.
    - Sound director coached returning characters to be exactly like they were in the old games, including old characters you can call. New characters had more freedom.
    - 140 shops and other locations have chobu-chan birds to find and collect. They're very well hidden and some microscopic. GI described struggling to find them in a pile of apples. Yu Suzuki loved watching people trying to find them.
    - Arcade has chobu-chan fighter, a Virtua Fighter style fighting game. All the arcade games they saw were new ones created for the game. New ones can be delivered to the arcade in-game.
    - The producer told them "unfortunately Sega wasn't very helpful" but it eventually worked out.
    - They were trying to shop around Shenmue 3 for a year apparently before landing on Kickstarter but no publisher wanted it.
    - Yu Suzuki said the game would look very different if they only got 1 million or 2 million to make it. Yu Suzuki then tapped on his phone screen hinting at a mobile game lol.
    - It feels retro but parts look good, Yu Suzuki said he wanted people to "smell the colors" when in the world.
    - Suzuki talks about how he watched a film for like 600 nights in a row when working on the original game to influence characters and life.
    - The GI crew were there on Dreamcasts anniversary in Tokyo on September 9th, there was also a flood. They went to do the feature and at one point they were told they'd be shown areas in Chinatown what influenced the game. They would walk around and get footage as Yu showed them. Apparently due to the weather it got delayed and getting there was crazy. Insane traffic stuck in a van with Yu Suzuki and his daughter for hours. Suzuki said they can just ask him questions if they want.
    - It got surreal because the translator was trying to figure out Google Maps so the Q&A never really went anywhere. His daughter started watching Netflix on her phone. Yu Suzuki watched an episode of Blacklist and likes the show. They then watched an episode of Full House and Yu Suzuki joked "Full House is the foundation of shenmue" and everyone laughed. The GameInformer guys loved it and described it as a unique experience.

A reminder the rapid fire Q&A is coming tomorrow.

They uploaded a video showing footage from their trip:

    This seems to confirm Shenmue 3 will be chapter's 3, 4, 5 and 6.
