But who is "Y'all"

Your initial post just makes you sound salty people are upset at THQ and out of nowhere you're lumping those people together with the people that want to buy BL3 in some lame attempt to dunk on all of Era
admittedly a large generalization on my part, but it hurts me head when people can dunk on people all day long whether there be proof or allegations of nasty shit happening but when it involves someone/a game that is liked it's ok and people want to sit around and wait for proof

edit: it's telling that any thread that has a game published by thq nordic that that subject in particular is always brought up and there's a thread with 6k+ posts about it as well.

I highly doubt that there's a lot of crossover with the two groups to be honest

And that's a bad thing now?

oh ok so allegations are not to be believed until proven otherwise unless it's someone we like?
does that change the fact that he's, regardless, a complete and total piece of shit who abuses his employees?
y'all send some really inconsistent vibes round here
These allegations are coming from someone who:
- Was one of Pitchford's closest friends
- Apparently knew about all this shit for years and did nothing.. how does someone know about these parties for instance? Hmmmm
- Finally says something about this shit in a lawsuit after getting fired

People can believe what they want, this isn't a defense of Pitchford.. but if you think he's a giant douchebag what do you think his former best friend and apparently partner in crime is?

We already know Pitchford is a slimy d-bag, but I have little reason to believe everything this guy says is true. It looks like 2 assholes fighting using civil suits to me.

TLDR: Randy Pitchford's former best friend is probably a giant douchebag himself

By that logic, every game made by a large team needs support cause it's supporting hundreds of people. And why stop there. You can apply the same argument to any product made by a large company with a morally dubious CEO. Doesn't work like that fam.

People will buy what they buy, ain't no shame on that. But if I feel that my money is indirectly supporting a douchebag who so happens to be accused of being involved with underage kids (could be wrong on this)......yea fuck that noise, I ain't buying shit.

You're free to do that. But don't turn around and point fingers at ME like some are doing in this thread with the usual Era shaming. There's a lot of pressure in this forum's community to jump on the bandwagon and no longer support things because of problematic individuals and if we don't conform, we get shamed. I'm not really down with how that's allowed.

It makes it so that you don't feel welcome here unless you conform to really specific ideology.

Pitchford has put me off of B3 completely. Loved the first 2 and Tales From... Thankfully, the friends I had anticipated wanting to play B3 have been deep down the Fortnite rabbit-hole, so I'm out. Might gamefly it at best.

Dear Gearbox,
I am not sure if you can, since he is the CEO, but you should totally try to find a way to fire Randy Pitchford.

The sad thing is there are a lot of talented people at Gearbox, but the man child in charge is the only one you ever hear about and it sure as hell isn't for good reasons, embezzlement, porn, bullying, being loud and obnoxious.

He is an a-hole of human being and he is going to make a lot of money by selling his latest game.

I only hope the court can balance this a bit better.

The craziest part is that this game has essentially everything going against it.

Meme humor that is only relevant at release, Epic Games exclusive, and a CEO squandered by legal troubles and controversy. Not to mention that games like Destiny and The Division 2 have essentially beat them to the GaaS train while taking their game design with them. Borderlands 3 is going to have to try very hard to remain relevant without screwing up the company's image between now and release.
[/QUOTE]
Borderlands 3 is NOT a GaaS title. Destiny and the Division are indeed great games but Borderlands has been doing certain things better then those 2 games even since the launch of BL1.

BL3 E3 trailer has over 6 million views
Destiny 2 Shadowkeep E3 trailer has a little over 1 million

BL3 is a hotly anticipated title, and the general consumer really couldn't care less who the CEO is.

And I don't recall ever seeing "memes" in a Borderlands game. Maybe they are there but for the most part it's just edgy or over the top.

Either way the game is about collecting loot and leveling up, it's played by a lot of people who don't care for the humor.

That's cool. Don't really have beef with anyone looking to buy the game after all, it's your money. But seeing people use the won't someone think of the employees or Devs reasoning is one of my pet peeves so I have to call it out when I see it.

If you want to wait around for proof that he was really watching 'barely legal' porn on his work equipment 'to figure out a magic trick' like he claims... then I think you give people far too much benefit of the doubt.
"The magic trick" line was stupid, definitely. For the rest, we have absolutely no way to know if the girl was legal or not. I suppose it will be easier the now if he really funded those "Peacock Parties".

The difference for me here is, that its not a victim who is accusing him, its a lawyer who he has beef with.

Someone needs to save Gearbox from Pitchford, hes going to take everyone down with him

Randy, I hearby challenge you to one hand of five card stud on a riverboat. Winner takes Gearbox, loser has to walk around with Penn Jillete's ponytail between his asscheeks for a year.

Well we already know that's true since Randy "I swear she's 18" Pitchfrod admitted it on a podcast. Only thing in question is whether or not the person was actually legal.

I think seeing this court case end is one of my most anticipated events of 2020

Maybe I wasn't clear enough the 'he' in 'like he claims' was meant to be Randy. He doesn't deny using his work provided equipment to watch porn featuring performers who look like teens. It's just a matter of if you believe his interest was purely 'magical' at this point.

Frankly, that's a fireable offense in any sane world, and that Randy is taking zero responsibility for it speaks volumes to the sort of person he is and tells me all *I* need to know, to make up *my* mind.

You're comparing the views from one trailer of a game that is unreleased versus an expansion for a game that has been out for two years. Those numbers are pretty decent all things considered.

Similarly, I think a lot of public-facing activity has lots to do with how things are received. If Randy were to be convicted of these crimes, do you think Epic will continue their business partnership? What if Randy decides to not allow passing of the torch and instead dissolves Gearbox right after the game ships? Weirder things have happened. He got his money already, trust me.

Speaking to the effect of no memes, here is a huge list of memes/references in Borderlands 2. The ultimate worst one is the "you've activated my trap card" when the Assassin goes invisible though.

But my point really was that Borderlands 3 is not a "Game as a Service" game. It will have to try harder to remain relevant in a place where these games are constantly getting updated and new things added. The games industry has changed significantly since the original Borderlands 1/2 releases and people expect more out of these games now.

One's also a sequel to a game that hasn't had one since 2012 or so, the other is a game that has a large install base that's a proven success. Borderlands 3 won't fail or anything but randy pitchford is a negative against the game and his company. Borderlands would be better for it if he was gone and heck there's no guarentee that Borderlands 3 will achieve the same success of borderlands 2.

As much as I think Pitchford is a cartoon villain, adding contempt of court to the laundry list of outlandish and heinous allegations against him (most of which I think are completely believable) doesn't really add up to much of a new development in the ongoing story of The Downfall Of Randy Pitchford.

But yeah I am very curious to see where the chips fall once this legal action is concluded.

Convicted? This is from a civil suit from his former best friend who apparently had knowledge of these "crimes" and did nothing until he was fired. I don't think there is even a criminal investigation going on.

Speaking to the effect of no memes, here is a huge list of memes/references in Borderlands 2. The ultimate worst one is the "you've activated my trap card" when the Assassin goes invisible though.

90% of this page isn't memes; there's 17 memes at the bottom the vast majority are Movies/TV/Music and a lot of those are from classics.

OK.. so there are some meme references. The games are massive and most of the humor has nothing to do with memes.

But my point really was that Borderlands 3 is not a "Game as a Service" game. The base BL2 game had far more content then Destiny 2 did at launch..hell probably more content than Destiny 2 + a couple of DLCs. I don't get where you think the GAAS games you brought up are that "constantly updated." Even if they are it's often because they launch fairly sparse. BL2 also had an epic crapton of DLC come out.

Borderlands games are massive in scope.. I've played through BL2 a half dozen times and still find content I totally missed.

It didn't have far more content than destiny 2, it had a good amount of content but they were fairly equal in content if anything before any dlc.

But presumably the people complicit in their silence are happy to let the 'one person' speak on their behalf?
If you go to your boss and say such ideas are bad and asinine to do he will either most likely laugh at you or fire you if he is that asshole boss. So I wouldn't say they are complicit now if it was something more serious like dozens of staff being KKK members or Nazis or them funneling money to 8chan I could be behind a boycott but for some asshole doing something on their site not really a reason to.

Getting off topic somewhat, but yeah I wasn't saying that everyone should boycott THQ Nordic entirely, but I do think that employees (especially heads of studios working on THQ Nordic published games) had the choice to either be complicit by remaining silent, or to say something, and nearly all of them opted for the former.

Yeah cause he did all the game alone and all other ppl that worked in it dosnt deserve the credit for their work, they are all piece of shit, right ?
He's the head of the studio that alone makes the game tainted. He's a known pos, so the others deserve credit but because he's the head of the studio that reflects on the game and everything else related to it.

People didn't need proof from THQ's stuff because the event was proof of itself: they hosted an endorsed AMA on that dreaded website. That much was clear from the get go.
As much of an asshole as Randy is, the allegations of pedophilia are just allegations and it's a big leap between "lying bastard" to "pedo". If people want proof before grabbing their pitchforks, I can't blame them.

yea honestly this is a bad comparison. Ive played a lot of Destiny and Division, and they are barely similar to borderlands. Borderlands does loot so much more free form than those two, same with content approach. Playing those games mostly made me yearn for borderlands.

On this thing, I wouldnt read too much into contempt filings. They usually mean shit. Pitchford remains varying levels of scum based on shit we already know of course.

Some of you act like this is some indie game made by one dude so boycotting only hurts one dude. Hundreds of employees are employed there.

But I guess if I buy the game, I support pedos or some shit.

You're speaking too much sense which means you will be drowned out with insults leveling you as a pedophile and being a direct culprit for his actions cause you played a videogame created by hundreds of people.
