i need this game right now, I need an escape. I wish this game had a dash of wire-fu mixed in with the exploration but other than that I'm hyped.

Well it is important to understand the context that a game releases into. What I really liked about the combat is there was just a lot of control in how you used your power hanging from buildings, and various angles, may not seem like a big deal now but it was pretty unusual then. There was also a satisfying progression curve as you gained more powerful abilities that always felt reward and interesting to me, there wasn't much overlap in the abilities and what was especially nice is when you'd level up the new abilities that gave you more mobility. It did get overshadowed a bit as Batman Arkham Asylum came out a few months later.
Boy it's been so long that it's hard to pin down in my mind. A lot of what I remember were the terrible escort missions and "follow without being seen" missions. The RPG mechanics were nice though, and I did like unlocking the different islands.

But all the stuff with the sludge ("yo, those guys are making a lot of sludge on top of that building, destroy the lab" and "defeat the sludge bus") wasn't great. And there was like a picture-taking element? Jumping around was pretty cool though, for sure.

I voted 85-89, but I can see it getting a bit lower than that. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

I've been pretty on the fence about getting this right now but I could be persuaded with very strong reviews. I don't care about the ninja part at all but I'd love to be a Musashi style ronin or maybe they'd let me be Sasaki Kojiro with the Drying Pole.

These new gifs make combat in the game look pretty awesome not gonna lie, a definite notch above the current awfulness that is AssCrud.

"A WELL-KNOWN OPEN WORLD WITH A DELICIOUS SAMURAI SAUCE

While Ghost of Tushima is beautiful and almost all systems are working fine, there is one thing that starts to get noticed after a while: You don't do much in Ghost of Tsushima that you haven't done in any other open world game before. Whether it's climbing towers, taking out enemy camps or looking for artifacts, for people familiar with games like Assassin's Creed and Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima has few surprises in terms of gameplay.

The question is whether that is bad.Admittedly, Ghost of Tsushima does not differ much from the popular open world formula, but the game fills that formula with such beautiful environments, delicious combat and interesting stories and also topped this whole with such a tasty samurai sauce, which I have for the time being. haven't left Tsushima yet."

Ghost of Tsushima zit vol met prachtige velden, bossen en bergen. Maar is de game meer dan een paar mooie graphics, of is het een oppervlakkige ervaring?

Sounds "solid but not spectacular."

Generic open world gameplay isn't a dealbreaker as long as the moment to moment gameplay is addictive. Let's hope that is the case here.

After seeing so much of the combat I no longer worry about it. It looks good.

Looks like a AAA game to me. I think we will see some reviews over 90%. Not sure I will preorder this for launch as I am still playing tlou2.

Basically, a very polished open world experience which is exactly what I expected. Sounds great

Sounds like exactly what I'm expecting it to be, really - a great, but not innovative, open-world game with satisfying gameplay, a gorgeous, historically-interesting setting, and an at least reasonably compelling narrative. Doesn't need to be more than that, as far as I'm concerned, though it definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea at this point in the generation.

Yeah... sounds like that's what we're getting. It seems obvious now why they didn't explain this was what you do in the game during the marketing to date... It's just not a selling point if it's the same as most open world games.

Hopefully the writing and the mission design is good enough to overcome the familiarity, but the graphics and emphasis on realism definitely seem to make this a standout experience.

Same as other open worlds is a huge selling point for the general public. I think it just missed the typical preview season because of Covid so didn't have the traditional "we played for an hour and this is what you do" from the press.

Maybe... still, I think it would probably benefit from having at least one original hook (e.g. the hordes in Days Gone). Maybe it does... I guess we'll see soon enough.

I've played and enjoyed enough games where the only two mouth options for NPCs are "open" and "closed" to enjoy the game more in Japanese than English even without proper lip-syncing.
